That's low. Thought they would already be close on the 100m milestone and would shout that after Infinite release.
How is that low lmao?

10 games listed above, that’s an average of 8.1 million sales per game. That’s more than most Zelda games.

For context, there’s 7 games in the God of War franchise, and if the latest sold 20 million, the series has currently sold 40 million copies world wide.

Amounts of teabags.

You reminded me of seeing this recently and I laughed:

I didn't see the film thank god, just a review of it with this clip in it. They thought teabagging meant physically simulating the action of dipping a teabag in a cup of hot water, I don't want to be a gamer anymore :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Don't believe this includes recent years of digital and PC sales. Given the numbers here that's about 68M, so 81M isn't much of a stretch given PC and digital.

They could be throwing in Game Pass subs to bolster numbers?

According to Wiki it's still sold more than the Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo, Tomb Raider, Battlefield, Smash Bros & Crash Bandicoot franchises to name but a few.
that battlefield numbers sold is just throwing me off. I would have sworn battlefields numbers would have crushed halo. For the rest , Tomb Raider matches it , Gran Turismo with only 7 titles hits 80 mil, smash bros isn't that crazy isn't since they have have only made 4 titles and ported the last game to 3ds and switch, crash bandicoot isn't that surprising as well since it did fall off for over a decade(plus I don't think it was as popular after the ps1 era). After looking at all of the releases of mgs games I was shocked at how low the numbers were.

Halo reinvented how people think about video games and has grown into a global entertainment phenomenon, having sold more than 81 million copies worldwide. In the television series adaptation, starring Pablo Schreiber, Halo will take place in the universe that first came to be in 2001, dramatizing an epic 26th century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant.

Gran Turismo was already 80.4 million units worldwide as of May 5, 2018.
Unless GTS sold only 600k units in the last 3 years something hard to believe with the big boost sales it got in 2020.

Would be great news if Halo hadn’t gone downhill following the spilt of Bungie and MS.
What I’ve seen of the new Halo isn’t filling me with hope.

how is this low? This is HUGE. And it’s that high although we have basically all halo games for free on gamepass.
It's low if you take into account the number of platforms the games are available on, the number of titles and the time lapse.

Consider that God of War with only 4 titles and without PC sales has sold more than 51 million units.

This is very old based in the 70 million milestone as June 2016.

"More than 70 million copies of “Halo” games have been sold worldwide."

Not sure how MS is calculating it, download from store to new acc, is probably buy from them.
No Gamepass is not included in sales numbers, lol. Gamepass numbers are usually mentioned in stuff like "Active players" and stuff like that

Infinite is going to be huge.

It's going to do numbers for sure, Day 1 on Gamepass on Xbox and PC means it will have its day in the sun on Twitch and whatnot for sure. With COD being Sledgehammer this year it has low hopes, as as long as it doesn't go head to head with Battlefield it should do well.

I don't know if that's good, great or disappointing. Grand Theft Auto V has almost double that all by itself. But, that game is stupidly popular.

Mario franchise is nearing 400 million sales.

I don't know what Sony's equivalent to Mario and Halo is, as they have so many franchises. Gran Turismo has over 80 million sales as well.

Ok let's try to make a better breakdown.
The franchise was at 70m in June 2016 (when Halo 5 crossed 5 million sales).

From June 2016 they released the follow games:
  • Halo Wars 2 (PC / XB1)
  • Halo: Fireteam Raven (Arcade)
  • Halo: The Master Chief Collection (PC / Series)
Plus games that should be selling yet released before June 2016:

  • Halo: The Master Chief Collection (XB1)
  • Halo 5: Guardians (XB1)
  • Halo 5: Forge (PC)
  • Halo BC games? (can you still buy them?)

That I believe what accounts mostly these 11 million new sales if I'm not missing anything.

i think that 81 millions probably right but that 5+ for h4 and h5 numbers pop up as if something isn't right. I don't think pc sales (so recent) cover nearly half
For Halo 5 they confirmed 5 million sometime after launch and never updated the numbers again, I’m sure it’s sold more copies and were just never made public. Same with MCC.
Consider that God of War with only 4 titles and without PC sales has sold more than 51 million units.
What? You might want to double check that.

I count 10, (11 if you include Betrayal)

It also doesn't list Halo Wars 2.

MCC has also done well on PC so thats a lot of sales
Yeap if I have to guess it is something like that:

MCC crossed 10 million sales.
Halo Wars 2 sold around 2 million.
Halo 5 around 7-8 million.

Together with minor sales from others titles you match the 11 million from June 2016 to now.

Why do you believe MCC crossed 10 million? Because PC Steamspy shows estimated of 2m to 5m... plus there is the Windows Store version and Xbox version being sold very well yet.... it is a no surprised if it sold about 5m+ from June 2016 to now.

There are way more than 4 titles. It’s closer to like 7 or 8

Your comparisons both launched before Halo. Mario had maybe 4 titles out and was pretty much given with each Nintendo console sold. Grand theft auto also has 3 titles out by the time halo came out and was on the super popular PS2. Plus halo only recently expanded onto PC.

Not downplaying those games but just saying Halo did well, considering it’s always been on the 2nd or 3 most populous user base.
