Halo Infinite campaign can't be played right now, even if you have the disc.

Yet. they can still be played. And they're not "that broken" nor have they not received criticism either. See: Cyberchump.

Have you read the Eurogamer article that is linked in the OP? Because it's not coming off as you have. Even if a Day 1 patch is required, why does the disc that was printed weeks or months ago care about that?

And this guy gets all the shit for a company wide vision. They just shot their load a hair too early back then with too much 'shock and awe', instead of the death by 1,000 cuts approach conditioning gamers and their loyalists, like they all do now.

The only fault that man had PR wise, he was too blunt and honest. ;)

Sure but plenty that aren’t. That’s why you don’t preorder.

you kinda went crazy hunting down a bunch of my posts in various other threads and went “LOL”zing them. …. Uh okay….

Stop. Think about this from another perspective. What do you gain from shitting on physical media should work physically advocates?

Nobody is in here trying to stop or dissuade digital. Digital is great. (Physical is great too.)

It's not just Halo. It's ANY game that does this. Doesn't matter which publisher it is. See my earlier post in this thread.

Its just a reality now that some games require internet.

For people who dont have internet they cant play these games, like they cant have all the other services an internet connection and computer provides.

Why do people expect to be entitled to these things? I guess if your born into some 3rd world country I dont really think gaming will be a big priority for them.

I am speculating but didn’t Microsoft have GFWL or whatever and they already jettisoned all those players into the ether because they couldn’t be bothered to keep it running.
GFWL was just a marketing name for the PC side of Xbox Live. It was also a push to get 3rd parties into the Live system on the PC side. Logging into Live on the PC side has never died for Microsoft first party games.

Im just a bit untrusting on these so called scenarios of people buying halo infinite for is $60retail/10-15/month that dont have the internet.

Obviously they are not poor enough to afford internet if they can spend that much on gaming, and if the location does not have internet then they can choose to move where there is internet.

Correct. And we know full well that it is not a disaster, therefore we're just left with "want"

Games not able to play a single player campaign from the disc they bought, under the understandable assumption that global release times only applied to digital unlocks - like they have for nearly every game in history - might not be The Titanic, but it isn't good.

This of course ignores all the other implications of this situation, particularly releasing a game on disc without the needed content and not being upfront about that. The only warning that something like this would happen is a small blurb on the back of the box buried in legalese saying that the game requires a download.

. . .but sure. Totally normal for a AAA release.

Lmao. Entitled. To an item that's freely available in my country. Entitled...

If that was the case then why should they sell the disc version in my region. Surely people there are too entitled to play and too concerned with - what did you mention? - burning crap to play games.

Honestly, i cant tell if you're trolling at this point. But good for you

As a reminder, i totally forgot about this for Xbox, Xbox Series uses the same 50GB bluray disc as XB1. For the people who use digital you might not care. But if MS is going to be selling physically media still, the least the could of done is went with the 100GB UHD disc to make sure there’s enough space for complete next generation games to fit on the disc.

This shit is ridiculous. Don’t care what anybody says trying to defend this.

I believe 100GB UHD discs are more expensive, which would explain the MK11 situation. The PS4 and Xbox versions of MK11 Ultimate come with two discs. The PS5 is one disc and a code to download the rest, like Switch games that don't want to pay the cart tax for the larger carts.

So better to buy digital if you aren't planning on using Game Pass.

I'm not sure I'm getting the subtle nuances of your thesis.

Wait.... So you can buy a $60 game or pay a $10-15 sub, buy a tv, electric bill, accommodation, buy an xbox but you cant afford the internet?

What other game you could buy on a disc and not be able to play it for an entire day?

Why are people defending this shit?
Cause most people expect to be able to play the day it comes out and not any sooner? Who is reaching for the halo Infinite disc 50 years from now? The game will end up having more content than a disc can hold anyway.

What's the difference between data on a CD vs the same data on a USB drive, SSD or HDD?

Halo Infinite went with a Global release as opposed to a midnight released depending on your time zone.

Difference is in the intent and purpose. If you buy a game on a disc, you expect to play/use it when you get it.

Imagine you get your blu-ray movie early right? By two days. Whoopss, can't play your movie, not the right time! Pretty idiotic.

No tissues needed: not watching porn and not playing Halo. Also unsurprising this is the apex of your argument.

Is this a reference to COD? Does COD lock their SP campaign to an online activation? If we're talking about WARZONE, it is pretty clear you need to download that as WARZONE isn't available anyway else. For all intents and purposes there's no reason to lock SP content to online other than to implement a version of online drm.

You're assuming you can just put a 100GB blu-ray disk in there an have it work on base xbox one without a UHD player. But it does not. You can't have bother. Either just one version of the game on the disk, or it won't work across every device

Was going to ask if anybody with a disc here can access the game now.

Thé reality is that nobody here crying and whining even buys discs.

physical media needs to die. there's no need for it anymore. so now you need internet to activate the disc, internet to patch it, internet to add DLC. when servers go down you won't get patches/DLC anymore so i hope once you install it your drive never fails. or you'll be playing whatever is on the disc (if you can even activate it again lol).

people who buy physical media like to pretend their little pieces of plastic aren't affected by the digital future but they are. the day i lose access to my digital games the only thing your disc will be good for is sitting your coffee mug on it or seeing how far you can throw it.

i really hope next gen both MS + Sony abandon discs completely. also the amount of plastic and paper that is used is shocking. there's really no need for it and that would be a huge amount of waste avoided.
This is some clown trolling shit.
