Press Release says:

"Also included in the “Halo 4” War Games Map Pass are two unique in-game helmets (‘Scanner’ and ‘Strider’) that feature new geometry, and an exclusive in-game emblem (‘Falcon’). The “Halo 4” War Games Map Pass is included as part of the Xbox 360 Limited Edition “Halo 4” Console Bundle."

Then Ellis corrected and said LE of the game. It console. That implies helmets and all IMO. Guess we need more clarification.

Hm, looks interesting. It could be fun it seems, looks like it mixes territories and something slightly fresh together.

Well I think it's never been more clear how different 343's vision for what Halo is differs from Bungie's, at least from a feature standpoint. The suite of modes and support options Bungie built up and sustained through their games is getting token treatment or gutted.

-Campaign scoring removed.
-Campaign and Spartan Ops theater removed.
-No new multiplayer theater features.
-Forge functionality marginally tweaked from Reach, objects heavily reused.
-Custom options pared back.
-Skulls identical to Halo 3, ODST, Reach, with no new content.

343 put their resources into reinventing Halo's core experience, into the story, and into player progression. I can respect that, it's a huge unertaking. (Will revise after playing the game, of course.) But the surrounding, supporting modes and features are neglected or cut.

I'm up taking pain killers because my legs are sore from my workout. So I'm grouchy. But goddamn are these things adding up. I joked that the OT thread title should be "Master Chief Responds to the Call of Duty", but it fits.
Yeah, its incredibly frustrating. I can maybe understand why SP theater was cut.. Im going to assume it was a technical limitation that they couldn't work out in time. But the others? I can't really see how hard it would be to add SP scoring, some new skulls or past staple gametypes. Its just weird, feature parity is a staple of Halo, same with user control but they seemed to strip those ideas out quite a bit.

Why are video game nerds so sensitive to anything being partially reveiled in a commercial? How else are they going to advertise? The point is to show stuff that happens but have you buy the product to see the really great parts for yourself. Just like a movie trailer. Contrary to what you all think, 343 and microsoft are doing this for casual people, not you guys. Get over yourselves or stop watching.
Well, to be fair, some movies show all their money shot and pivotal plot points in trailers and same goes for games. That said, I thought the trailer was fine spoiler wise... It could have been edited to be more interesting though.

Hmm. I mean they sound cool, but they sound like a lot of UNSC industrial settings. Maybe the art pass will be unique though. I love the release time frame and its pretty cool that it seems at least one map will be set on Harvest.

I see that now. Does that mean they got the helmets added to the LE after poor feedback? That is great news if so.
Can we please get official confirmation on this one peice, it will make a difference on whether alot of people get the LE or not?

This is what happens when you have a bunch of pre-order stuff and not a clear explanation of what comes with what. Even bsangel tried to cover it in a bulletin and still managed to get somethings wrong or not clarified.

That preview for episode 4 is awesome and so is the map release structure.

They're really only discussing the aesthetics of the map. They could only have concept art for all we know. I'm sure they're not "already done".
Oh, I don't mean to imply that I think the maps themselves are already done or anything, I just get the impression that at the very least, the environments are set and the scale and primary features are most likely known. I like the idea that 343 could still react to player feedback on the kind of maps DLC would include. Like how everyone hated the low-G section of Zealot at launch so Bungie and 343 decided not to - oh, right. Yeah. But it'd be nice if that kind of thing didn't happen.

FUD is doing a really good job at conveying the confusion and weight of Human/Covenant contact. We've seen it a thousand times in other invasion movies, but not really in Halo media beyond the books (and especially not in Reach).

Nice, the 9th one looks like it has at least a little Covenant in it.

Skyline and Harvest stand out. I hope Skyline keeps that rainy, reflective ground texture.

Absolutelydisgusting.

They must really want to push the fact that this is not the human/Covenant war that was covered in the first games. Based on map selection and everything they are really pushing the "this is a new trilogy, the reclaimer trilogy" and that it is Forerunner heavy.

I've already stated this else where, but the parity of features from previous games means dick to me if the core game sucks. (Reach). The core gameplay looks awesome to me, and that will carry the game further for me, than any of the cut features ever would have.
Agreed 100% 343 has climbed a pretty big mountain in coming close to what it took bungie 5 games to do. I don't agree with a lot of the decisions taken - but it doesn't matter - I imagine the gameplay is good enough to make the end result a halo game worth playing... Something we haven't had for a long time.

Makes total sense. I just hope they get some nice color going on in the next maps.

Looks like space elevator wreckage that is Covenant?

I've been busy with work and haven't been able to keep up with the thread. What's everyone most disappointed about lately?
No campaign theater, no campaign scoring, & the gameplay trailer was underwhelming.

The Wetwork specialisation doesn't even counter it properly apparently, you can always been seen. FUUUUUUU!

There's no sneaking in flag. Just run in a straight line directly at the flag with unlimited sprint. Turn around run back. All the while thinking about how much fun you had in playing the most successful addition to the Reach sandbox called speedflag.
