No one has ever made a good FPS before. Do you even know how much capital would be required to fund the development of one? To even imagine the concept of one? You people really are entitled aren't you?

lol and a lot of the things people complain about now are things we've known about for months prior to launch. Called them out. People said to don't worry about it, trust us, etc. etc. etc.

Now we're calling out these issues again post launch. Lots of problems we saw coming long time in advance.
Like what? Load outs? AAs? Thats a matter of people not being able to adapt (or change) and to a certain degree, evolve to new gameplay features more than it is a "game" problem.

If you ask me, its old Halo fans stuck in their old ways. Unable to accept any type of major change.

I know I just cant adapt anymore, I'm too old for this shit!

Probably has nothing to do with the fact I dont enjoy playing the game anymore with all these changes, no I'm probably just bad and cant play the new Halo!

Guess I'll have to Walshy.

You! I read the DediServer readme last night, I made a quick SWAT revolving map playlist but I couldn't get the signon to work in the command prompt, didnt give me any message just didnt signon would stall or be loading something then it went back to the prompt but I was still offline when I checked status.

Have you done it?

Alright. Ive been one of the few in here who loves Halo 4.

BUT

I am dissapointed with the handling of playlists, and communication. It's strange tobe missing somany gametypes. 1 flag, hell any one sided object gametype. Objective BTB, Groffball, extraction for non dlc, doubles, and multi team. I mean these arestaples of the core game, and griffball and extraction were shown off before thegame came out.

Comon 343i. I fuckin love halo 4, gimme our gametypes.

Bungie kept the rights to castles. And integers. And SELECT * FROM files_database WHERE tag = SEARCHSTRING
You obviously have no clue how development works, do you?

It's not like they had to greenlight all the products of the outsourced labor for them to appear in the final game or anything.

I heard from a reliable source that Bungie patented lowercase letters now too.

I don't mean people are bad, i mean people just cant accept the changes. Kinda like how changing the role of one actor for another actor in a sequel of a movie. Like they did iron man. It might not be a bad performance, but it wont matter cause some people cant accept the change either way. Same shit.

Oh man, are we really getting the adapt comments again? In 2012? Great.

And yes I think Halo fans can be kind of pissed when the major change is changing the game from a balanced game where eeryone spawned on even feet into Halo 4 and Reach.

But I don't try to argue anymore, there is now a community who really thinks all this stuff belongs to core Halo.. and it probably does, then in this regard core Halo is just not anymore playable for me.

And if you don't know what was posted about before release and what came true, you should stop calling out other posters that they just hate.

Seeing as how I've shipped multiple games.. yes, I actually do.

It was a joke, though. Simmer down.
I guessed as much by the high quality of your posts and content mate. I've actually found value and accuracy in what you post here. Generally you post more than a one liner for such content posts too, which I appreciate.

For others I'm now refusing to bite my tongue when I see silly or ill-informed comments here. Too many positive lurkers who need to speak up.

After playing Halo 4 without Sprint/instant respawn and just now playing BLOPS II I have this to say.

Halo 4 at its core is a great game, a really really great game and sprint can actually work with it. but AA's and SOME of the custom loadout options (Boltshot, PP, Plasma grenade) need to be flatout removed and honestly would probably be more fun without the AA's even though I like them. Call of Duty gets away with the killstreaks and ect is because they BUILT THE GAME AROUND IT! Halo adding these features just feels too forced to be honest.

I want Halo back, I don't want all these these forced on me because they think chasing CoD's tail is a good idea. I play Halo to play Halo and I play Call of Duty to play Call of Duty. Halo had a great formula and I want to see it stick to that but I think we are way past the point of that happening sadly. I think 343 is a great team and I LOVED the Single Player but MP is just starting to get....meh.

Call of Duty can stick with the same formula over and over again. Why can't Halo?

Theres your problem and the main problem with most people in this forum. Everything you guys argue about is what you think belongs in Halo and what doesn't. Thats subjective to each person, not fact.

I think we're open to change. It's just some people hold on to more things that make Halo, Halo.

For some, Halo is only shields, sci fi, reticle aiming.
For some, Halo is all of that plys the idea of equality among players, of fairness, of little randomness.
For some Halo 5 could implement Aim Down Sights and as long as it has shields and is in the halo universe its still Halo.

As for what we saw, yeah some people including me wish loadouts were never a thing. AR vs BR was a huge community war in the other Halos, and being able to choose your starting weapon is a change I welcome. But being able to choose game altering abilities and now entire perks... some of which are only available to those who bought the LE/got the spec code/most of all, played a SHIT ton.

But as for what we saw coming, at the top of my head, camo being back (despite perfect opportunity to make it a ordnance power up) DMR being too powerful, instant respawns, random ordnance bullshit, flag auto pick up (the actual changes to CTF can be debated, but flag auto pick up SUUUUCKS). We didn't find out what the boltshot did until late, but people were calling them out on a insta kill loadout weapon. I know I was a big hater of plasma pistols/nades in BTB from way early on.

Why can't these things be decided by playlist populations? Why does it have to be so black and white the whole game has to be this way or that? Once again the answer is it doesn't but 343i need to heavily tweak the classic playlists through 1-3 playlists. Over a couple of months past that TU point the populations will either kill one off or happily have both coexist next to each other.

And theyve been that way since before the game even came out.

One of the reasons i lost a lot of interest in this forum is because of the constant hate. All people do in here is whine. Especially the Halo threads. Just constant bashing of one feature after another until the next game comes out, which then turns that last "crap game" into a suddenly much better game than it actually was when everyone was playing it. Rinse and repeat every new game.
Do you think that maybe, just maybe, the majority of those complaints are valid? And maybe, just maybe, those who complained before the game did so in hopes that 343 could make amends? We bitch and moan because we know the potential for an amazing Halo game is there, but never reached. The issues with the games have been pointed out for years, yet the developers rather spend time adding perks and convoluted UIs, and youtube movies. Focus on the core of what made Halo great, refine that experience and polish it to a nice shine, then maybe consider adding new stuff. But then again, I am no developer. What do I know?

Just stating my personal opinions and I am aware that I/this forum do not represent the entire Halo community.

Of course it is subjective and I think it is pretty clear that I know that in my post, I even state that there. But seeing many people here they think like me, what belongs in halo is the stuff that made Halo known and big in the online world.

Of course others think differently and I have to say I'm really jelous for all the people who can enjoy Halo 4, because I love this franchise, but it makes me mad that I can't play a game of it without thinking "nope, this isn't why you started playing it"

Of course we can do some stuff for customs, but I don't think I should need to play customs to get it..

Dude if we went by player populations Halo 4 would have just been Master Chief vs The Flood and the multiplayer would have been infection variants.
Yep, the playlists would be :
Infection
Grifball
Infinity Slayer
Big Team

yeah I make the prediction the population for grifball will be incredible.

Now I wait for Connor who posts about the Custom Game Browser

EDIT: Also, they should put Haven back on even weighting. They literally made it rarer because it was a popular map. I get the whole monotony reason, but I'd rather play Haven 5 times in a row then Complex once.

Agreed, I thought the same things during Halo 3 and especially Reach when the populations for living dead/infection or Grifball got so high. I was like really that's what players want from Halo??? WTF!

I understand Karl/Juices and all the classic players want a certain thing, I like those playlists from time to time as well.

I suppose it's a tight rope for game developers to walk about what to keep, change or iterate. They're never going to get it 100% though and it's a shame the customs don't have the feature support for certain types to be made like previous Halo's.

If only we could get our hands on the source code :)

About that dildo gif - There's a gif of Kari Byron from Mythbusters doing the same thing to a balloon animal. I saw it on Tumblr once. The end.

Ive been playing Halo for as long as everyone in here has and i can enjoy Halo4 just fine. In fact i enjoy it a lot. But im also a type person who gets incredibly bored after a while of playing a game that plays identically for too long a period of time. I need change, even if it is in the form of a sprint or an AA. It changes the formula, keeps it interesting and to me, still very much has the Halo feel to it.

I hope 343 put more classic playlists in Halo4, (im all for variety) but even if they managed to do it perfectly, IMO it wont change a damn thing. The population wont grow to COD numbers by doing that. A lot of people have moved on from Halo since it was last king. Thats what a lot of Halo fans have trouble accepting. Halo isn't the king anymore. And classic Halo playlists wont change that.

Fuck. I go and enjoy a couple hours of Minecraft and come back to... well that. I've enjoyed Creepers a couple of times, one of them coming tonight when it blew up part of the floor revealing rows and rows of abandoned mine shafts. Also Cave Spiders are the devil, especially when a Skeleton decides that he wants to ride one and shoot arrows at me.

Anyways, personal agenda. Mmhmm. That's why in my post I only talked about making "classic" Halo. That's all that my post was. You know, nothing about patch notes being readily available, deciding what features should be attempted to fit into Halo 4 still, or even anything about development timeframes between companies. No. Those wouldn't fit into my agenda. I mean speculation be damned. But really, reread it and see how many times I state that Halo should go back to "classic" Halo. FFS, I even state in the opening paragraph "My post is about why Halo 4 feels unpolished, and I'm actually going to give some armchair designer advice on what to do to fix it for the next title". But continue on with the agenda stuff. I'll be sipping my sparkling apple cider.

Yeah? Armchair designer? Who the hell do you think you are? Do you think the creative minds at 343 would allow someone to attempt the arduous task of creating a decent arena FPS from the comfort of an armchair, let alone someone with no industry experience? Get real mate.

Grifball/Infection/Action Sack can coexist with competitive playlists...like in Halo 3. Remember those competitive and social playlists?

Competitive (NO LOADOUTS, Map specific starting weapons, static weapon spawns): Team Slayer, Team Objective, Team Doubles

Social (loadouts enabled): Social Slayer, Social Objective, Social Big Team, Multi-Team, SWAT, Action Sack (flood/grifball/mini games)

There you go.

yeah I agree with you that even classic playlists will bring back Halo's big numbers, but I could play it again and enjoy it :(

But I doubt that Halo will beat COD for a long time.

Fair call to an extent, there were one or two gems but I guess I prefer details and accuracy with source links moreover. Perhaps I was a bit harsh and rereading both our posts mine should be not so directed at yours for a large part.

Got no issue with them being there, clearly they have their followers. I was just making a personal comment.
