Halo |OT3| Remember Reach?

Thanks!

Good piece, and I really dig that concept art.

I wish these kind of interviews were allowed to be interviews, rather than snipping out all the questions. I've always found these one-sided videos where we don't see what's being asked rather odd.
I agree, the art looks fantastic. I really hope the game captures the frozen, destroyed and occasionally gravity free look.

Also, yeah the video format is a little awkward.

Oh, and thanks! Looks like I may use the second to last one. =)

I don't think either o those will come from Game Informer. They did this type of thing for Reach as well, as there wasn't really anything hype-worthy other than the actual cover story from the magazine. The extra stuff they do throughout the month is just interviews and stuff usually without a lot of substance when it comes to the actual game.
That's a shame. :( I wish we could get actual gameplay of that campaign level.

Seems like we are getting info from GameInformer every Monday/Wednesday/Friday.
I hope it continues for the rest of this month :)
I got the mag today, in the article it says that they can't fit everything into the article so be on the lookout on gameinformer.com/halo4 all month long for info that didn't make it in the mag :)

I understand that, but I still find the monologue style less interesting or coherent than a conversation with actual back and forth.
It'd be better if they were talking to the viewer, but it looks like they're addressing a person off camera. A person whom is never heard or seen. It is weird. I'm a tv editor and have to see this all day long. It's just the way it's done.

Edit: Ah shit.

Considering how this game looks straight up AMAZING. I wonder if it is because it has some of the base work for when they move to the nextXBOX. Wonder if the efficiencies they made for next gen is the reason they are able to pull of the sublime graphics this generation.

Hindsight ODST isn't really doing it for me so far. I felt like the Halo 3 one showed me many things I hadn't noticed before while playing. This isn't the case at all for the ODST version. It's just a bit boring to read through it as it's pretty much exactly the same if I just played the game. Maybe it's because the game doesn't have that many details as Halo 3 or something I don't know.

Mostly due to overhauling almost all the systems. Or completely rewriting some of them.

Help me help you. Give me some specific feedback so I can revise later editions. What parts would you like to see elaborated on? Where am I focusing too much? I want to make this fun for everyone to read.

Also, apologies to all. There's a huge mistake in the last bit of text. :/

Well, it's just the style of the guy who's doing it. I'd suggest you let him know in the FUD comments so he can take that under consideration, fwiw. I certainly understand your viewpoint.

Edit: Ah, he's here! Nevermind! :)

I think what I'd really enjoy is more analysis of the environments, characters, story progression, etc. to supplement your excellent walkthrough. It *is* harder to do with ODST, so it might just be reaching on my part. Don't get me wrong though, I'm still enjoying the look back.

Crud. What did I miss? My brain's a bit fried adding in all the pics :|

Dax missed a lot of opportunities.
Thirty minutes after drop, Dutch (voiced by Adam Baldwin), emerges from his HEV on a short beach. A pair of UNSC F99s fly overhead.
What is a UNSC F99s? They never appeared in the game. Dax could have gone into more details like that the UNSC F99s are Jet-like vehicles and were planned to appear in Halo 3 etc.

Or maybe get into some fiction and explain the character Dutch to the reader.

Dutch is a Christian.

Character explained.

Kinda partial to "The Sandbox" the more I roll it around my mind. Very Halo, multiple meanings, etc.

But to be fair I've been up for 30 hours and am running on fumes so anything might sound good. But I guess you'll know it when you know it.

Is the FOV still not set in stone? Otherwise why being so secretive about it when stuff like resolution and Antialiasing technique info is already known. A "I wouldn't worry" would suffice.

Also please no grain or any other blurry filters

Last night in Reach I used the gernade launcher in great effect that led me to want it in HALO 4. This weapon can cause some great memorable moments. Please have this gun in HALO 4 or a equilavent to one. Just feels so good when used to take down a banshee.

The FOV in the GameInformer pics look perfect. Damn I love the HUD of Master Chief in the single player. Shows so much detail in the visor. Please don't get rid of that.

I posted earlier about matching my BR to a screen and the FOV being ~90. It's probably not going to change much.

That's a good one too. Good potential logo too
