Halo |OT4| Trust's a Tough Thing to Come by These Days

lol i have no idea how i missed that. Really not a bad price at all if you consider that each map pack will be at least 8-10 bucks
or more
when released.

Plus all the other stuff you get along with it, seems like a pretty good deal to me. This is the first Halo Limited/special/superawesome edition I'm gonna buy.

Dunno how i feel about no legendary edition, Will buy limited edition.

Weapons skins are fine aslong as they look like the fit into the lore/universe. No pink AR and lighting BR pl0x

It is a good thing. I was half-expecting them to release only a Legendary edition this time around, but what they're doing now is better.

Actually, now I know why I find the H4 LE weird; it seems really weak compared to the Diablo 3 CE that was the same price in terms of physical items. I guess I just prefer nice art books and stuff over an included season pass I would have bought anyways.

Microsoft has devalued their Legendary Edition so much at this point from their inability to just have one print run and leave it be, they might as well step back from doing one for a while.

And it seems they're just going with the one LE and pricing it between what the Limited and Legendary were before.

Huh? So basically no new info. =P

Bulletin, Halo 4 Limited Edition.

I was all excited, but now I am sad that there is no Legendary edition.. Halo 4 keeps feeling less and less special as time goes on for me. I hope that changes.. =(

Anyways, what I took away from it-

Weapon skins are a plus for me. They are a natural fit for Halo, and should be fun to unlock, etc.

I can't understand the talk about the 9 maps, it specifically mentions 3 will be available in the future...what about the other 6?

FUD 90min EE? Yes.

everything else sounds alright but rather tame. As of now, Halo 3 and Reach LE were more appealing, but don't get me wrong, Im sold.

Oh, that video at the end, with the new music sample was goooooooodddd...

Personally, I'm glad I'm not paying for some hunk of junk that's just gonna clog up space in my room, like a Spartan helmet or Grunt foodnipple or whatever. They're giving me access to three DLC packs, something I'm actually gonna use in the game.

Edit: Demon, there are 3 map packs, 3 maps in each. I was confused by the wording at first, too.

I would've liked an art book or some shit. What they're offering now... It's not exactly worth €100, imo. If that's what they're charging for it, forget it.

They're charging $100, not sure how thats going to convert.

But if they're including 3 map packs (800 MS points or $10 each) it would end up at $90, plus the other stuff.

It's not a bad deal, as most people are going to buy the map packs anyways.

I think it's a pretty good collector's edition really, including the map packs is a nice idea, adds real value. The FUD movie/series is great too, though I still hope there's a separate special edition BR of it.

I will miss the experience of popping open a Legendary Edition though.

60 dollar game, + 3 * 10 dollar map packs, plus 90 minute movie, plus extras?

Seems not unreasonable to me.

edit: although I don't know conversion rates, so maybe not?

The part I don't like is I have yet to see MS publish content outside of the predetermined season passes (Gears 3 being the recent example), so what they've done so far for me is confirm that they're not going to put out any more DLC than they have for Reach. Which I went on about before.

Certainly strange to know the exact amount and number of DLCs before a Halo game even comes out though. Will it all be outsourced to Certain Affinity?

“Halo 4” Redefines Iconic Franchise with “Halo Infinity Multiplayer” Experience
Available for pre-order today, “Halo 4” Limited Edition provides the ultimate multiplayer experience and “Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn” Special Edition

As millions of fans worldwide eagerly await the return of the Master Chief with the launch of “Halo 4” on Nov. 6, Microsoft and 343 Industries today revealed all-new details around the year’s most anticipated blockbuster.

Set almost five years after the events of “Halo 3,” “Halo 4” takes the series in a bold new direction and sets the stage for an epic new sci-fi saga, in which the Master Chief returns to confront his destiny and face an ancient evil that threatens the fate of the entire universe. In addition to a rich story and campaign, “Halo 4” introduces a groundbreaking new multiplayer offering, called “Halo Infinity Multiplayer,” that builds off of the “Halo” franchise’s rich multiplayer history and promises to continue to innovate and redefine the way people think about storytelling and multiplayer experiences.

Introducing “Halo Infinity Multiplayer”*

The hub of the “Halo 4” multiplayer experience is the UNSC Infinity – the largest starship in the UNSC fleet that serves as the center of your Spartan career. Here you’ll build your custom Spartan-IV supersoldier, and progress your multiplayer career across all “Halo 4” competitive and cooperative game modes. Surrounded by the sights, sounds and crew of the biggest vessel in the UNSC fleet, your multiplayer experience will be embedded in the fiction of “Halo” like never before, where your progress and game choices affect your appearance, arsenal, and role on the battlefield.

· Spartan Ops. The story of the UNSC Infinity intersects with the “Halo 4” campaign, then continues on in a brand-new, story-driven experience known as Spartan Ops. A first of its kind and exciting new addition to the “Halo” franchise, Spartan Ops is an episodic adventure that blends immersive storytelling, high-quality cinematics, and action-packed gameplay to deliver an unprecedented serialized experience.

Through a weekly series of cinematic episodes on Xbox LIVE, Spartan Ops will tell the continuing story of the UNSC Infinity, following the events of “Halo 4.” These episodes will center on the UNSC Infinity leaders and crew, and a new team of Spartans – Majestic Squad. These cinematic episodes will provide the backdrop for the weekly Spartan Ops gameplay missions. Playable in single-player or cooperatively (with up to three friends), explore the corners of Requiem in these objective-based missions, and help uncover the secrets of the mysterious Forerunner world.

A massive-scale adventure that builds off the “Halo 4” story, access to Spartan Ops is included with “Halo 4” at no additional charge – effectively delivering two campaign experiences in one game.*

· War Games. The competitive multiplayer modes of “Halo 4,” known as War Games, take place on the combat deck of the UNSC Infinity and revive the visceral and immersive experiences that “Halo” multiplayer is famous for. “Halo 4” introduces fresh, immersive new game modes and strategies to help you progress your Spartan-IV career, while also delivering an experience that’s still distinctly and uniquely “Halo.” More details on all the modes of War Games will be released at a later time.

· Total Combat Freedom and Player Progression. “Halo 4” features a vastly expanded suite of new multiplayer modes, weapons, vehicles, armor abilities, a new loadout and player progression system, and a new armor modification system that introduces gameplay-enhancing customizations for the first time in a “Halo” game. These advancements can be used in both Spartan Ops and certain War Games matchmaking playlists, empowering player choice, vastly expanding their creative options, and make the experience deeper for core fans and more approachable for newcomers.

The “Halo 4” player progression system goes beyond simple aesthetic upgrades, encouraging players to invest time and effort to create a Spartan that looks and plays the way they want. Players can earn and activate combat enhancements called “Specializations” based on the style of play they engage in, from stealth to all-out assault, and everything in between.

“Halo 4” Limited Edition

Available for preorder today, the “Halo 4” Limited Edition maximizes your multiplayer experience and puts you in the boots of a Spartan-IV aboard the UNSC Infinity – the hub of your “Halo” multiplayer career.

Available for $99.99**, the “Halo 4” Limited Edition includes:

In addition to gaining access to new ranks, Specializations unlock new customization options. Purchasers of the “Halo 4” Limited Edition will get access on launch day, while others will have to wait as Specializations are released over time.

If map packs are 10 dollars anyway, youre essentially just buying them early, and getting other stuff as well.

Most notably a thick and hard cover art book. There's also a USB drive with the older Diablo games, some digital items, and a bonus disc. Basically, put the two side by side and $99 for a metal case and a few DLC cards is awfully unappealing.

I guess what I don't like about the H4 LE is that there's very little in it that's limited. A season pass isn't what I'd bundle in with a limited edition to make it "limited." Also, the Spartan and AR (lol) skins are okay but there is undoubtedly going to be better ones to be unlocked in game.

If I Spartan Prestige fast enough with LE Spartan Points I hope it allows me to select special user selectable ordnance drops because they'll look good with my custom gun skins in the War Games mode.

Casing looks cool, but I don't buy anything but standard editions. Seems like a good value with the map packs, but I'm not confident at the moment that I'd like the multiplayer long enough to get to that.

I love the way that Waypoint redirects me to an invalid link. It makes me genuinely excited for when I get the chance to click it again and have another chance at seeing the content.

Seriously, why don't they use a fucking redirect? Is that so hard to do? Considering that they are a Microsoft studio, and Bungie isn't; but Bungie manages to do it with WLID. Pretty shitty if you ask anyone with a brain.

I'm not a fan of weapon skins. They're almost as bad as armor effects. Hope they don't get too goofy.

On it definitely is worth the value, maybe just not for you. 3 map packs, fictional packet thing, and the entire live action thingy, as well as some in game goods.

yea, I can see what your saying. Theres nothing really limited since everything is accesible by anyone at later times. I wish an artbook, or poster, or something that was actually limited came with it.

Have to make use of dat RAM saved from not having Elites loaded into the multiplayer data

They're all little interesting things, however blatantly copied off the Gears 3 strategy it is (same publisher, mind), although the exclusive emblem doesn't sit right with me for some reason. I thought the lobby nameplate concept was better for that.

I can't believe, as gamers, we have to accept this level of shitting on the franchise we all love and cherish. Whatever about you guys but 343 are basically shitting and I am all too happy to sit under them with my mouth wide open like the sheep that I am.

This content isn't even any good :/

That LE looks sexy. Love me some cool cases. Multiplayer looks good to me so the map pack is a nice incentive for many. Glad to see weapon skins included too. Infinity seems to take Reach's idea of being your own Spartan to far newer heights which is always good in my books. Roll on E3 for details about Specializations as I have no idea what they actually are (unless we want to play the assumption game).

Um

Unique in-game Spartan-IV armor skin, unique in-game weapon skin for the Assault Rifle, an exclusive in-game emblem, Xbox LIVE.

All that is exclusive, and its going to get more use and acknowledgement than a Statue or Helmet would since other players can see it

Specializations we already know about you get to slots per loadout that can hold things like extra grenades or more ammo or faster regen

So, specializations:

- quick reload
- extended clip
- extended AA usage
- health/damage/shield modifers
- other base trait modifications

?

Or something entirely different...

Although I'd have nothing against them opening them up, MS has never opened up either the Elite Officer or the Eternal Flames later on. Or Sgt. Johnson for ODST.

I do think it's fucking hilarious that of ALL the weapons they picked for a limited skin for hardcore Halo fans to get as part of an LE...

...they picked the AR.

715 of my 23,855 kills in Halo Reach are with the AR. That's 3 percent.

Please no base trait modifications. Damage done/taken, amount of shields and movement speed/ jump height should be the same for everyone

Well unless it looks good probably not. As long as they have the emblem I've been using since Halo 2, I'll probably use that. As for the skins, I don't know yet. I would rather have a behind the scenes disk then a limited skin AR tbh. Is anyone even going to use the AR?
