This popped up on my Facebook. Don't know why I found it so hilarious.

So would you let your 11 year old play?

I was just about turning 11 when the first GTA came out, and I bought it

If I had an 11 year old right now, no I would not let them play it. In fact if we turned the clocks back to 1997 and I had an 11 year old, I would not let them play the original game either.

I'm in a positive mood so I find that funny even if it's far from being the prettier and the first VG cake I see.

However it's full of WTF controversy and stuff.
Gun Link and 11yo GTA player and parents putting everything together with chocolate wow wow wow! :)

No lie if I was driving in GTAV and found bags of money on the street i would be pretty stoked.

Come to think of it playing GTAV while eating a themed cake is pretty swell as well.

I played GTA1 when I was 12, but the graphics and presentation at the time were nothing compared to the current GTA games. I don't know if I'd let my kid play GTAV at the same age.

I don't think I can wrap my mind around an 11 year old playing this game and someone actually buying him a GTA themed cake so I'm going to pretend that this is a cake for a guy celebrating his 11th year out of prison.

My kid (if I have one) would need to work his way up to the latest GTA. Stating with original from 1997.
The same would go for any other game series that continues in the future.

Are you secretly raising a child who will have an affinity for new IPs

That kid will be traumatised if he ever gets into any long-running RPGs. Have fun with Wizardry 1! Heck, The Elder Scrolls: Arena is comparatively modern, but still fairly painful in many ways.

Also, does that means he has to play every official individual release of NetHack?

Everyone being so moral here.

Tough question.

I didnt realize back then, what was going on in gta1, when i was 10.it was just fun to drive over people and doing all sorts of shit with the weapons. Also i used all cheats to have a tank or the flame thrower, because with that the police could be destroyed more easily.

Thinking about the time today...
And how realistic the games are... A 11year old kid would not understand what exactly is going on in this game.
So i would let him or her play it but would ask, how the game is.

My little sister, she is 12 years old, hates videogames. She rather plays freemium games on her android or the parents tablet.
She says, its easier to start them up and there is not much text or too many sequences where you cant do anything. Thats what she likes.

The previous games were a lot more coy about the sex and violence lot more 'cartoony' GTAV though I would find it very hard to allow a young kid to play it.

Even just running around and shooting people on the street in the game is a lot more graphic.
