Wait WTF. These numbers are from a news article. He was just thanking someone from Chartzzzzzzzz for finding them. I guess the mods didnt read the OP?

Wait, hold on... he got the LINK to the RUSSIAN STORY off of VG Charts. Why the f**k did he get banned for that?

Maybe we need an update to the TOC which states that people with banning power also need to read the entire OP.

They're not *banned site* numbers, and he provided the original source. His only mistake was basically to mention he's been to that site's forum?

and he's gone. But he's done nothing wrong, so not for long.
sorry.

I bet it was lyre

The flaw was that he cited them at all in the first place, I guess. Probably they were thinking why read the entire OP when the poster even mentions VGC. Although, the actual numbers are not VGC related.

Yeah, guys, here's the Google-translated Russian source:

According to the data, which in an interview with gaming publications cited the head of Russia's Sony Computer Entertainment Alexander Kharlamov, in Russia sold about 60 thousand consoles company. Microsoft granted an exclusive right to trade their firm attachment "Media League", a record sale at 50 thousand copies and taking into account the decline in prices for Xbox 360 in the near future expects significant growth.

I understand that the gaming forum moves at a phenomenal pace, but this really needs to be addressed. I don't expect everyone to read entire threads before posting, especially when they're 20 pages or 200 pages long, but you must read at least the OP. Oftentimes the OP is kept updated with relevant information pertaining to the discussion, and even if it's not, it can provide details and clarifications that won't necessarily be gleaned from the thread title or the most recent page of posts. If your post in any given thread demonstrates that you clearly haven't read its OP, expect to be banned for at least a month.

So, hopefully, the person that banned Captain Smoker gets a ban of at least a month, for pretty much doing what the rules say not to do.

Is it forbidden to quote V G Chartz?

Well, you get banned for posting "Weekly World News reports Bush has a love triangle with Condoleeza and Batboy" stories in Poligaf, so I don't know why there'd be any difference for sales age.

I was wondering about the ban too, the linked Russian site looks like a very legit Russian finance website. Only problem is I haven't yet found the actual console sales numbers in the linked article.

I did find the piracy numbers :)

Har har. The russian site didn't load up for me at first, and you know how VGC works. :p

In repatriation, Captain Smoker should PM me for a free tag.

Read the article please, I know, that the numbers from VGC are banned, I wouldn´t quote their numbers.

A guy @ VGC just found the numbers and he is well informed, that´s the only thing.

Aww, see, now I feel bad about bitching about this, because I know you typically do a good job around here, thus it indeed would be an honest mistake. I thought it was one of those other yahoos that run the place.

Well, now that we're going again - kinda fascinating that the unpirateable console should be winning in pirate land. Blu-ray has been a stone around the PS3's neck, but it will be a pretty good anti-piracy measure.

Its there, the site uses words rather than actual numbers for sales figure (Use the translated link, 2nd Paragraph under the heading "Little progress"), it's legit.

Anyway, piracy figures are outstandingly bad, 90% of PS 2 games are bootlegged? and Russia wonders why the WTO doesn't like them? yikes.

Well they are shipments, not necessarily sales. It'd be nice to see actual sell-through numbers if possible.

Kinda hard to hack a Blu-Ray when nobody has a burner for it.
I don't understand it got higher LTD than other 2 systems. I thought it will sell more if it is cracked by Piracy.

But again, this number is from Sony Russia.

I'm just surprised at how well the PS3 is doing versus the Wii. Difference in cost has to be pretty decent between the two consoles over there, just like everywhere else, so the PS3 not only being ahead, but ahead by such a big margin (comparatively) is kind of surprising.

Also, indeed, surprising that in a count with such a high piracy rate on some of those consoles, the PS3 - the console that doesn't have piracy currently and is probably the most expensive in all ways - is the current leader.
