I don't want to disregard years of hard work all because of one racist who did very little to contribute towards the efforts of this game...it is very off putting though and it bothers me that the team is willing to keep him in the game.
It's fine if you don't care. But you're going to have to accept that there is a lot of people out there who do.
You're almost certainly right. The question is, do those companies wear it on their sleeves? A lot of time, you'll see people on twitter or youtube or facebook saying that their opinions don't reflect the opinions of their employers. Those opinions still sour a lot of people on said parent company.
At the very least, the devs should release a statement, because JonTron's involvement reflects poorly on them.

Second, if you have definitive proof there are other people in the video game industry that have done or said worse than JonTron, please feel free to share. Until then, you shouldn't sweep what JonTron said under the rug because "vidyagaemz".
The game used jon as a means of promotion "look we have a 'celebrity' guest voice actor", if after he showed his true colors they didn't condemn this shit that's endorsement of it, thus it's fair to decide to not support everybody involved.

I wouldn't buy any game if a dev openly supported shit like this e.g. Kingdom Come. It's not that hard if you actually care about the issues.

I'd be a lot more forgiving if another dev hadn't taken a lot of shit to set precedent. They could have removed him after Playtonic and taken a lot less negative press than Yooka did.
It just looks bad on them when one dev takes a stand and in turn makes it easier for them to drop Jon, and instead they leave him in.

It's why I'm also going to pick up Yooka-Laylee, as it's a fun 3D free-roaming platformer, and it's rare to see in this day & age.

He used to be cool until he said 'Minorities dilute the gene pool' during an on-stream interview. He is a full blown neo-Nazi and I was heartbroken when I found out. Threw away my Jon-era Grumps shirt and everything.
If he is not removed from this game I will never even consider buying it.
I bought Yooka-Laylee once he was confirmed to have been removed from the game.
Yooka Laylee didn't have any voice acting, just grumbles. Every character in "A Hat in Time" is voice acted, so yeah, the situation is pretty different here. They would have to pay another voice actor to voice the character that Jon did, so i can see why they wouldn't change it (especially since they have been developing this game for so long, funds must be low)
