I walked into a get go. I'm in a rush because I only had a half hour for lunch. I hurry, make my order and head for the line. There's a 65± year old man with a camo MAGA hat on. He steps back out of the line, with a nod and a hand wave he tells me to go in front of him. I thanked him.
As I'm stepping in line, he says with a smile "you know, when I was your age I was the same way; always in a rush to get where I need to be. Now, I know that If I could go back I'd take my time and appreciate life more. Because one blink and you'll be an old rickety man like me."
I didn't really know what to say. lol

A guy at my work has a camo one that he wore all the time. He's a 54 year old veteran. First day of work, the first question he asked me was "are you a trump supporter?" I just laughed and said no.
He regurgitates right-wing talking points all day. I'm also 99 percent sure he is strapped at all times even though we don't allow guns on the premises. Nice enough guy to me, but he's a huge moron. (In a lot of ways, can't do basic addition for example)
Last week was rough though. Walked into the locker room in the morning and he's ranting "all these people who support gun control, I HOPE THEY GET KILLED when a criminal who has a gun breaks into their house." Not a good look.
A lot of people at my job are trump supporters. The general thread I see is that they're all below-average intelligence, middle-aged white people with only the faintest grasp on politics. They all also believe everything on fox news, and everything their friends post on facebook. They also all believe the muslims hate our freedom, and all muslims are taught to kill non muslims. Even had one of them say to me "christians don't kill people because of religion." I said "uhhhh.....the crusades though"? He replied "yeah but that was before jesus."
Had another one arguing that only muslims are terrorists. I said "timothy mcveigh?" This was met with "a lot of people don't know this, but he was actually a muslim, he converted." I showed them a statement from Mcveigh where he said he didn't subscribe to any religion. The response was "that's not accurate, I read a book once that said he was a muslim" (none of these people read books.)
I just keep my mouth shut and do my job now. Facts don't matter at all to these people. Even basic, blatantly obvious historic facts. No matter what, they will always believe all muslims hate america, hillary was a crook, and trump is our savior, also fuck the mexicans.
Edit: I'm also reminded, the MAGA hat guy went to niagra falls in canada decked out in his military uniform and american flags and shit for his wedding. The next week he was up in cleveland and a guy in a turban was taking pictures of a chandelier at the playhouse or something. He said "see something say something" and called it in to the police. Motherfucker, you were JUST decked out in military garb taking hella pictures in a foreign country.

Southern Colorado here and never seen the hat but people here love the dude. Tons of signs around election time and lots of old white people on corners waving with signs for him. Even now it's a complete shit show but he is still loved and people talk about how bad it would be if Hillary was in. They point at the stock market but dumb fucks can't understand that number goes up but their pay checks go no where.

Yup. Sorry not sorry. I have no problem with Republicans as a whole; I think our country NEEDS both conservatives and liberals to continue functioning and to provide representation. I do, and always will, have a problem with Trump supporters though who don't condemn that offensive, hateful bullshit he spews. It was also the first time I saw it in public, and I think it was the only time I saw it in NYC. I was in DC for the inauguration, where I obviously saw many, many, many more.
(Not that it matters, but I also probably took the pics much more discretely than my post made it out to be, honestly. I think I have two somewhere, and I say I think they were discretely taken because I vaguely remember them being blurry as fuck. I bet I could find them because I save everything I take on an external hard drive, but I don't remember when that was and don't have the time to sift through.)
That being said, taking pics on the subway is not uncommon at all. I see people do it all the time. I do it all the time. There are entire Instagram accounts consisting of subway pics.

I remember a topic on old gaf about the social implications of wearing a hat that says "police." Now I'm no huge fan of the police, but the other day I saw a cop doing some kind of traffic duty with a beanie cap that said POLICE in all caps, and I thought, That would look good on me. That's a piece of clothing I would love to wear around,

I am not honestly bothered the MAGA hat(though I don't think trump is doing a job of making America great again. I do get somewhat annoyed when I see a Punisher logo though. Dunno, but I think those who are using it for the wrong reasons.. Like kids wear the Chev Guevera t-shirt.
