HD Zelda

As far as voice acting goes I think they should have a transition. I mean, don't do a hundred percent voice acting all at once. I liked it in Wind Waker when Link said stuff like "hey" and "c'mon". Am I imagining that? I think all the characters should be able to occasionally say a few words, just so people can get used to it and we can see if it actually works or is horrible.

Maybe you guys are not U.S.A. centered? So the voice cast choices seem weird to you. Don't like how this is turning out so at least let me explain my suggestions:

Liam Neeson:Because hes like bearing and presence inpersonated. You can close your eyes, hear Neeson's voice, and the image of a very imponent person materializes.

Kate Winsleat: Her voice is of a very determined person which is important in lead female protagonist. Plus her british accent gives her an air of nobility.

Justin Beaver: Cause the guy is trendy and will pull his enormus legion of fans, it has lots of comercial power which the series needs (look at Phantom Hour Glass and Spirit Tracks sales). What aspect of him relates to Links character? Well Justin is a young person with a harmonious voice and a super talented person. So having him on board for the character voice and not take advantage of his musical talents would be an oversight and a waste.

So let me guess, you are also opposed to an orchestrated track and want Nintendo to stick with MIDI´s? Or suddenly this becomes stupid cause im sugesting it :(

Well this post was useful since it made me realize the snide remarks came from choosing him as Link´s actor. So i take it back, no problems. So what sugestions you would make for links voice then?

Link should never have a voice because its supposed to be you! Who the hell wants to run around and sound like Justin Bieber? :D
Assuming that Link is supposed to be the user. Then why Nintendo hasn't opted to make the newer entrances of the series complete First Person games? Theres no better way to represent the user as the game character like the 1st person camera perspective. For the first entries in the series its understandable Nintendo couldn't because of technical limitations but now they can. But they haven't, so i don't think your argument for Link not having a voice is valid.

third person works fine for immersion.

There don't need to be any suggestions as it's simply not gonna happen.

Edit: Having skimmed through the last page just now I noticed you're a joke / troll poster. Nevermind this comment then.

Fuck fuck fuck, so you mean you were not trolling? what the fuck are you thinking????
How many years old are you, seriously, not trying to be funny here, I want to know if people of the same age think like you, like sonic fans now.

link's more of a johnny depp imo
Hold on Bro, Johnny´s portfolio is too ample. Related to what role. Pirate of the Caribbean Depp? Sorry that´s just ridiculous. Maybe something like Depp from Platton would be more digestable but im not sure.

Don't even consider Edward Scissorhands, becuase he doesn't talk much there so it wouldnt be an useful example.

i was thinking hunter s. thompson, but good point about platton.

I feel it actually works better than first person.

Seeing your character and the immediate surroundings mimics our own peripheral vision better than the severely limiting first person view field.

This. Personally the fun of Zelda is running around as Link and talking to all the crazy people, thinking replies through in your head and trying to immerse yourself in a world where you remain silent. Almost like you can save the world, yet you cannot real say anything about it. (Zelda is slave labour confirmed) As soon as you attach a voice, you are that person aka, Kratos. You're not you, you're some angry asshole killing people. (Unless you happen to be that in real life :D)

me too. RE4 made that clear to me in a big way for a lot of games.
Zelda works best this way. And when Link gets a voice, he's no longer you.
Ugh.. and some voice acting almost ruins a game.

I can not play in first person. Zelda should remain what it is. I never want a realistic Zelda. It should remain a fun game with imaginary setting.

Which console? If you say NES and SNES, you win; if you say anything else, you don't. ;)

Darn, I loved the first two Zelda's and would like one to take some of the RPG elements from the second one, but my favorite Zelda overall is LTTP, and my favorite 3d one is TP (though I love the style of WW). Maybe some kind of mix of all those that I mentioned?

Joke post? Beaver? Liam Neeson makes you think of impotence?

Please please tell me this guy is a joke poster.

#1 and #3 best selling handheld Zeldas.

I'm sorry if it doesn't fit with your argument, but the Zelda franchise is as strong as ever.

I don't consider Last Guardian to be a super-realistic or gritty take on visual presentation. I think it follows in the same artistic vein as ICO and SoC but now with better textures, more detail, smoother animations, and in HD. What I was referring to is stuff like, gritty realism, blood, dark, nearly monochrome palettes with lots of shinnies, the usual Western RPG visual look of The Witcher, Oblivion, Dark Stalkers, Dragon Age, etc. I don't want Zelda to look like that.

As far as your David and Goliath painting if HD Zelda meant truly capturing the look of Romantic paintings, Classical Romanticism, or Renaissance paintings, or even Early American paintings, I would love it. That's not the same as videogame realism.

Also this Tangled look above me would be awesome too. ^^^

Yeah. Here is some more Baroque art. Obviously you couldn't do the tenbrism in a videogame, but just those deep rich colors and painted look should be possible. Of course if it was a Zelda game it would have to be more stylized and the none of the characters would look like realistic humans, but I don't necessarily want a perfect recreation. Just keep some of the important elements and use it as inspiration.

I think it is considering the sales of TP, but SS will be the real test.

I don't want to read through all the threads, but has Nintendo said anything new about HD Zelda? Any hints? Also the pictures I posted look even more incredible on my new laptop, yay!

nope. don't expect anything until SS releases

Link will have a voice... It will probably be Bieber or Elijah Wood. It will be good to have a Zelda where you can read signs without having to press a button to bring up text (yay HD). I need a new timeperiod too. Something never done in the Zelda series.

That being said a HD version of Wind Waker would still make me very happy.

Exactly what I was thinking. Pre historic Zelda with dinosaurs please. Also what is up with you people and Bieber? This is not the first time he has been mentioned in this thread.

Ive played the last 2 in HD already....hold up very well infact specially Wind Waker in 1080p

OMG those look incredible. I loved windwaker just from playing it on gamecube on a little SDTV, but that's a whole different level. I never got to play TP...I want to play it like that.

Not gonna read the whole thread. This actually happened?

I looked and I found, now I am floored.

What, why wouldn't it be a Zelda game if it had that art style?

Past games suggest Nintendo usually takes one big influence and mixes it with a few others. They used some of Mignola's aesthetics in MM, obviously some Monet in SS, etc. If they went for a Baroque style my guess is that it would take a lot of their color choices while applying their own aesthetics to it, I dont see them going by American/European definitions of photo realistic either.

Again, thats just my guess based on previous games. Nintendo always think about what can be best displayed with the tech at hand, then what they need to emphasize key gameplay moments, so they always manage to surprise.

This is what i expect out of an HD zelda. Better geometry. shaders and better textures. Good enough for me.

Yup. Looks amazing.

If the poster has any more can we see them please?

This thread is getting me hyped for SS. We know next to nothing about that game and it is due to hit within the year, and we are already talking about an HD Zelda =)
