JonCha said:How come the photos look badly pixelated? Is that down to some dodgy compression? It looks great, but the photos are worrying me that the graphic quality will be on par at best with the current gen (though I guess that isn't the point, really).
It was a prerecorded (as in its an ingame animated sequence) that was renedered in realtime and could be influenced with the touchscreen (change camera and move around, change from night to day on the fly, etc.)ToyBroker said:People thinking that Zelda clip was REAL...LOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

If history is any indication, we can really look forward to the graphics in the next Zelda game.

Seriously, people who are coming out of everywhere claiming that this is just prerendered, Nintendo cannot into HD yadda yadda must have completely forgotten how gaming looked before current generation. Nintendo used to produce some awesome looking games, it's simply flabbergasting how nobody remembers this and looks at Wii U comparing it solely to the last few years.
Effect said:Excellent image. It really baffles me that anyone would suggest that the actual game won't look as good if not better then the tech demo that was shown at E3. That is clear precedent here that this is always the case with Nintendo.

Since its a tech demo I don't think supposed to be real stylized. When Nintendo is ready to develop the actual game I'm sure I will be much more artistic.elrohir said:although i like the visuals of Zelda WiiU techdemo...it looks a bit generic to me...especially the design of Armoghoma.
BruceLeeRoy said:That image works for every game except Twilight Princess. When the screen is the size of a postage stamp sure the game looks decent but its one of the worst looking games on the Wii/Gcube.

You're kidding, right...? One of the worst looking GameCube games?BruceLeeRoy said:That image works for every game except Twilight Princess. When the screen is the size of a postage stamp sure the game looks decent but its one of the worst looking games on the Wii/Gcube.
herzogzwei1989 said:Looked really good, lots of particles, this is kinda how I imagined an HD Zelda to look like, that is, Twilight Princess art direction coupled with CG-like visuals in real-time of course. That video did not look pre-rendered at all. It's probably no different than the SpaceWorld 2000 GameCube tech-demo.

Yeah, there is some faulty logic. There were hundreds of games on GameCube, if you can pick say 10 that look better than TP doesn't suddenly make it, quoting you "one of the worst looking games". Nobody says it was the best looking game, but calling it horribly looking is madness.BruceLeeRoy said:Not even slightly. I already posted it in the TP thread and its just a fact if your being honest with yourself. Go play RE4, Rogue Squadron, MP, MP2, Star Fox Adventures, BG&E and of course WW and you tell me how great you think it looks.
I think Wii U Zelda will be gorgeous and I am ecstatic for it but their is some faulty logic going on in this thread.

Vinci said:Wind Waker was so gorgeous it sort of makes Twilight Princess look worse than it really was. I didn't care for the game, but it was a decently attractive title for the system, IMO.
agrajag said:The only ugly thing about TP was some of the textures and character models (which was a design decision, not a graphical flaw), overall it was a gorgeous game. For what its worth, Ocarina wasn't the best looking N64 game either.

I think you're really going overboard. Sure, textures are quite horrible in a couple of places, but for such a huge game on a 6-year-old technology limited to 1.5 GB I don't know what you could expect from them. It's still one of the best looking games on GameCube and it completely blows the SpaceWorld tech demo out of the water. I'm not gonna argue it was the best looking game on the console, because it wasn't, but it still ranks among the top, even with these textures.BruceLeeRoy said:Its a Nintendo game!
I have never seen them drop the ball that badly with regards to the visuals of a game especially one as beloved as Zelda. Just because Charlies Angels looks worse than a game with the resources Zelda has doesn't prove anything either.
KevinCow said:This is a terrible looking game.

BruceLeeRoy said:In the course of the systems life it wasn't but there wasn't one person who wasn't absolutely amazed by that game when they first booted it up.
agrajag said:If TP was released mid-GC-lifespan, people would've had the same reaction to it. Instead, the game released when GC was dead in the water and the HD twins were already out. Not the same situation. Not to mention that most people played it on their 720p sets, making the game look uglier still.
smhBruceLeeRoy said:but its one of the worst looking games on the Wii/Gcube.
The reason for the confusion is that a tech demo is meant to demonstrate the theoretical maximum of the hardware. It showcases the graphical capabilities of a machine with a non-interactive 'game' free from the constraints of input, AI and other such processes. Typically, no game will ever achieve the graphical level of a tech demo.Effect said:Excellent image. This takes the cake of being the most hyperbolic statement this E3.
