There really is almost no purpose to it. Most of the time you don't want to be looking at who you're playing against.

It would be interesting if they started using it to do motion tracking and represent that with avatars (with some limits, avatars doing wanking gestures probably wouldn't be much better), instead of a direct video feed.

I think a few more video games in general would be a good idea. Don't want a flood heading to XLBA, but more games that use it as a main feature rather than "OH HEY U CAN WATCH OTHER PPL LOL!"

I got freaked out by the camera on the PS3 the otherday. I was playing some LBP with my daughter around (she loves that game) and then some guy types a message to me . . . "Is that your daughter?"

I was like . . . WTF? can he see me?

But then I realized it was just the sound . . . the PS3 camera has mics on it so he could hear us. It is pretty cool the way it is implemented too . . . when you talk, the lips on your sackboy move.

I have to say though, you shouldn't let your kid near audio or video from users (other than trusted friends) on Live. I also have a three year old daughter, and she won't be hearing from anyone on Live for years. I tend to be paranoid about that stuff.

I don't think the police are going to do anything, especially if you didn't take any pictures as proof. And if they did decide to investigate they might ask the OP a few questions as well. MS is usually pretty hands off, since I'm sure they don't want to be legally liable for what people show on their webcams.

It would be a toss up to see if 4chan would take the porn aficionado's side or the OP's, so I wouldn't expect much help there either.

I would just hit the report button on Live and move on. Hopefully enough people have flagged him by now for MS to do something about it.
