Horizon Chase and Horizon Chase Turbo will disappear on June 1

Both Horizon Chase (World Tour) and its enhanced console version, Horizon Chase Turbo, will no longer be available for download starting June 1, 2026. The Brazilian developer Aquiris Game Studio was acquired by Epic Games in April 2023.

Finally, Horizon Chase 2 will remain available and playable.

Why would I invest in their games ever again knowing they'll just delist the prior games, once the sequels are out?

//Edit: Didn't see the second tweet on my end, glad we'll at least be able to still download it, if we already own it.

I bought Horizon Chase 2 from the eShop. How the hell did this game get an approval for release on the Switch?? It runs like ass. Playing on the Switch 2 has no improvements. Sucks HC2 is Epic store exclusive on PC..

Why though?
From what I can find online the games don't have licensed cars or music.
The original horizon chase was my go to mobile game for a while, it's sad seeing it go away.

This sucks. Horizon Chase Turbo is an authentically great game. Possibly the best OutRun clone of all time.

I know they say you'll still be able to download it if you own it, but I think I'll download it to my Switch 2 just to be safe, lol.

Definitely recommend the one on Steam. Epic bought the studio and only dropped it on their store, so I never played it. Looks like Steam was keeping the company afloat.

Used to play Top Gear with my friend, his dad, and brothers. Fun game.
Why remove the old games?

Hear this on Aris' stream all the time, had no idea this is what it was from.

Shame that they're closing them. I know a lot of people praised these games. Epic quickly becoming a bigger bad guy today, lol.

Looks like the game and DLC hasn't been on sale for a few years on PSN/Steam. Hoping for a sale seems futile at this point. It was part of the PS+ catalog back in July of 2019.

Aris aka AvoidingThePuddle? Funny guy if so 😂

It's originally from Top Gear for SNES, a really fun arcade racing game that's 2 player head to head split screen

The Horizon Chase Turbo track was in the LA Capitale track. Same composer Barry Leitch

I don't know what it is about the music but it gives me a wave of dopamine and nostalgia when I hear it and from comments sections on youtube I'm not alone lol

Yup, haha. Yeah man, one of the few streamers I follow, lol. That makes even more sense. Song rules, haha.

I guess I'll get both when they go on sale again before being delisted.
If Epic is taking it for themselves, I doubt they'll put it on sale. Especially since the Steam Spring sale is going on right now.

He flushes too many games that I actually would want to watch him crack jokes on, but he's definitely the funniest fighting game commentator there ever was.

Epic ruined this series.
First they acquired the studio and forced them to use Stutterfest... I mean UE for the sequel.
And what we got has traversal stutter up the wazoo, shader stutter and for extra bonus bad frame pacing if you use any form of vsync, even at 144hz. And it doesn't even look much better especially with the shit shadow cascades... I mean UE shadows that dissappear 15m I'm front of the player at "epic" settings.

On top the game only works online(there's "offline mode" that doesn't save progress nor continue from where you were online), and of course is exclusive to epic store ugh.
Finally they made the developers work on Fortnite after meaning they probably laid all of them off now.

And yea now this shit as final cherry on top.

Got me a backup of HCT from fitgirl, I have it on Steam but you never know what's gonna happen in future. And then I thought shiver me timbers and fuck you Epic so I helped myself to part 2 also. Yarrrr!

Shouldn't studios have some say in this stuff? Like holy hell sign a contract that says we'll sell the studio to you but we retain the right to make at least some creative decisions.

Games was dead to me anyways since they broke the local multiplayer part of the game on PS5 when Epic implemented their online/server services. The game now can't distinguish between different PlayStation profiles locally and think the other players are the same as player one, giving everyone the same points after a race no matter their result, and showing the same name. And that is if the game isn't crashing after a race and you have to restart the game to continue the championship.

Devs never bothered to fix that last time I tried.

This should be illegal tbh.

Unless there's some sort of way to keep using older versions.

Horizon Chase 2 is on sale for $9.99 on Xbox

Never got the chance to buy the first but Horizon Chase Turbo is fun if you want quick arcade fun that runs on a potato.

Had fun with that game, even though the suspend of the mode where you race every track in one go did only work temporarily. Sitting down for a couple of hours was too much to ask, imho, and when the progress disappears after I don't know what time; I never finished that.
But why does a game disappear that does not license anything? Some cars are ripoffs of certain brands, but not actually using names, and the music was original for the game. Iirc.
Strange.

This really stings. Horizon Chase Turbo is probably my favorite Lotus spiritual successor. I don't understand the reason for the delisting since they had only one local composer working on the soundtrack and the game lacking any licensed stuff. Maybe the acquisiton by Epic in 2022 had a clause about their older games?

We'll still have the sequel, sure, but it's a different game trying to recreate classic racing titles from a different (later) era.
