As far as consoles are concerned they might as well be exclusives. Being on PC doesn't make Forza Horizon 5 available on PS5 obviously so what does it really matter for console gamers?

Not really for console gamers seeing as most would never switch to pc. But the opportunity of bringing in new console buyers who only have a pc will mostly die down.

In the end pc players wont have no need for any other platform ,while probably also having better versions of said games.

As long as your Xbox and PC are on the same network, you can play all of your PC games AND your entire Xbox console library right on your PC. It's incredibly useful.

XBOX hardware sales did eventually drop though especially when their games start releasing on day one. That’s not the only reason they dropped, but it definitely contributed. There’s a reason Microsoft conveniently started to hide their hardware sales.

Yeah exactly.

People keep bringing up Xbox as some sort of proof that PC support will be fine and won’t affect hardware sales.

You mean the company that’s 3rd place in both hardware and software sales? That’s the proof you’re using that Sony’s business will be as successful as it in now? LMFAO. You wouldn’t get pass a first hearing in a court case with that kind of evidence.

Sony’s recent financial report shows they absolutely do not need to put anything on PC. Their console business is the most profitable in the market.

It’s $100 more than a series s and the s would require a $140 expansion card to have a similar storage experience.

Well... 120 bucks I can get a yearly membership of Game Pass. And it is not mandatory have 1TB of disk storage. Anyone can live with 5 to 10 games installed on a console. That being said, the amount of money that you will save just not buying games can make the investment on additional disk space worth if a person really needs have more than 5 to 10 games installed.

Again. I'm one of the people that really despise Game Pass. Damn! I even hate getting digital games. But Sony is making Microsoft's service looks really interesting to me.

Sony doesn’t realize what a huge PS5 sales collapse is going happen from doing this. What a bunch of idiots these new executives are.

All this 2 years later talk was a bunch of lying bullshit like I said.
So if you only own a PS5 you will deny yourself playing a perfectly enjoyable version of a game cause a better version of said game exist elsewhere?

dont you think sony, you know, analyse all this stuff before these decisions? look at what layden said. they have been having these ideas for years now. which goes to show how full of shit forum fanboys are as they framed it all as jim ryans decisions when it wasnt true. if sony are going ahead with this, than they obviously think they can make even more money then they are now. do you think its a good business move to let microsoft have the PC market to themselves? how is it bad if sony can grow their ip even further?

I wont. First game bored tf out of me. I even set the difficulty to story so I could just run through it but it honestly felt like a chore to play. I leveled up to 34/ 35 and just never could get back into it.

So much for porting their games 3 years later. Eventually they will hurt their console sales. Exclusive games are a big part of what makes you pick one console over the other.
This was a complete falsification made up by pro-Sony gamers. It assumes that when the game was first created, they always had plans to release to the PC. When Sony made HZD, they hadn't decided yet to port their game to PC. This decision (to port all the games) came recently and execution was done immediately (i.e. the porting process). All the graphics pipelines will be repurposed for the PC from here on out. It makes no sense to sit on a fully ported game for years just to appease the masses.

As a pc game owner, this wont change my mind to buy ps5.

There are games which i like to play on consoles exclusively, even if they are on pc.

Plus playing on big tv is better, compared to my pc all day.

first two reasons and completely legit..

But what’s stopping you for connecting a ox to your tv?

That's not true. Nintendo easily beats Playstation at profits. When talking about profit margin, it's actually miles ahead.

Sony should just go all in. I don't see why this is a bad thing. Besides, then it gets rid of all the BC woes. Imagine if we could still download Vagrant Story, Valkyrie Profile, the Suikoden games, the original Silent Hills, Metal Gears, etc etc etc. You know, stuff that is in danger of being completely lost to time because Sony just doesn't give a :lollipop_poop:

Again, do people like games, or do you like platforms? I like games, so why wouldn't we want more people to be able to experience them on their platform of choice?

Their hardware cost $500. Equivalent hardware to play their games in the PS5 settings are at least 3x times the same price from scratch. So, yeah, people will always have the incentive.
True. And as of now, ps5 loading times are not possible on pc. The 3d headphones audio and dualsense are nice features too

We will see day one PS exclusives launch on PC eventually, too much money there to ignore.

You mean 30% of every Sony published game that people buy on PC instead of Playstation going to Valve instead of Sony themselves?

It's one thing to start selling on PC as soon as the game's sales become irrelevant on console. It's completely different to cannibalize console sales, eventually leading to Sony's industry-leading software attach ratio going down as well.
Microsoft is doing it because not only do they sell a lot less consoles, they sell a lot less games per console sold, and they have a publishing platform with windows store.

I own a PC with a 6900XT and 5900X that is >2x faster than a PS5 in playing games, so I'd be happy to sell my PS5 to just use the PC forward.
I'm just not that naive to believe Sony is willing to kill their console software business.

Thing is people can use their current graphics card to play next gen games, by just using mid or low setting
What setting did you use for your profile picture? Looks somewhere between high and ultra graphics, with a hint of real-time raytracing.

Console gamers needn't worry about the timelines of PC versions of exclusives. Some good reasons why people play consoles over PC are still there. More software sales are great for Sony. God of War could sell another 5 to 10 million copies on PC when it releases. That would be hundreds of millions of dollars more for Sony to sink into another investment, acquisition, or project. Sony has made it clear that for now their intention is to treat PlayStation consoles as their first priority. That may change in the future but only if Sony is confident that doing so won't backfire on them. Besides, these are placeholder dates with games that haven't even been announced and release schedules that don't make any sense.

Bryank75 Bryank75 is always a good sport about this stuff. Definitely miss him.

Holy shit.......just realized how much steam he's going to unleash on NeoGAF....

im not ready rob riggle GIF by Holiday Inn Express

He's definitely a good sport. Last time he got banned, back when we had a ban thread, I vouched for his return. And I'll do it again in a heartbeat. He's passionate about what he loves, and I can't do anything but respect that. We all have something we are super passionate about, and I'm not gonna kink shame anyone for what they truly love.

I'm ready for it. November 16th, here we go!

Xbox revenue has been on the up non stop for several years now. Looks like their strategy is working and Sony knows it. Hence them realeasing their games on PC too.

But by all means, please explain why both MS and Sony aren’t running their businesses correctly. I’m all ears.

There is another thread about this topic:

As I said there, the list is very suspicious because according to it MS would publish over a dozen big AAA games in 2022, RE4 remake instead of getting delayed due to covid would be released a quarter before its original target date (or whoever wrote the list didn't know that Q4 FY2022 means Jan-March 2023).

According to the list there are different studios like Netherrealm, PlayGround Games, Ninja Theory or Tango who would release 2 games separated only by a few months. And well, some of these MS games listed for 2022 or 2023 in the list some months ago accoding to their devs were in early stages of development. And according to the list Sony releasing a lot of games very early in PC, sounds suspicious.

And there is a "Resident Evil Outbreak" that has been copied like many other games from the leaked Capcom schedule, without knowing that the leaker wrongfully translated it as Biohazard Outbreak when the real translation was Biohazard Outrage.

He's definitely a good sport. Last time he got banned, back when we had a ban thread, I vouched for his return. And I'll do it again in a heartbeat. You can connect your pc to a big tv !
You can connect your phone to your tv too, but that wont make gaming pleasant.

I want controller/console/tv experience.

There is special feeling to it, which you cant get it, using pc connecting to a tv.

I'd make a pubic poll, just to get him back. But I'm sure that would backfire on me somehow. Wish his ban wasn't so long, he's missed so much news in the past few days, and he would have a interesting/funny take on all of it.

Makes sense to have games come to PC in smaller time gaps. The gaps for current PC ports are large only because they just started porting. But even Days Gone at 2 years is small.

Got to strike when the iron is hot and get PC gamers buying PS games before they get too old and forgotten.

I agree.

PC connecting to a TV has downsides too. What if I (or someone else) wants to watch TV at the same time?

The way I have my set up, I surf on my work and personal laptops and off to the side a little ways down, I have my big screen TV I have on sports channels all day.

Funny how things seem to be turning out just like I said they would. This was Jim's plan all along. It's also funny how Jim says "X" thing about the "competition" only to follow in the competition's footsteps one at time. Slowly but surely. He's a total corporate head to the bone. They only thing he won't do anytime soon is a gamepass version for PlayStation.

Sony pays for timed-exclusives for 1+ year but they release their own games a couple of months later? If I was Square I would be pissed and ask for double the price 🤣

Offtopic but I'm actually selling my PS5. Not because the exclusives are coming to PC but because I haven't really played with it lately... like I bought a shitton of games like Hades, Dark Pictures Anthology, Guardians of The Galaxy & GHost of Tsushima.

I haven't played any of these. I just bought them and stared at them. I felt like I wasted a SHITTON of money on them.. ( maybe this is something else entirely not related to gaming, maybe I need therapy lol)

Anyway, I might just stick with my PC from now on. Hopefully HFW does come to PC because otherwise I won't be getting a PS5 until they release a Slim version

Completely done with consoles for now be it Series X or PS5. Exclusives are not gonna cut it anymore for me.

I remember not liking Xbox games going to PC but then I got over it eventually

I still see Halo, Gears, Forza, Hellblade 2, etc as Xbox exclusives today so I would probably be the same with Playstation/PC titles but there are others that will just switch to PC

What kind of dumb statement is this shit? 3rd place is now 1st in pc, and smarter with their business. They know consoles wont attract too many people in the future.

There is something called attention retention. People have low attention span. If they are unsatisfied with their console experience, they will go to somewhere. Its why TVs are losing to YouTube. You can get the exact information you need, and can find whatever shit you are looking for.

As for your "PS REPORT", there is something called MTX. I doubt you know that shit though. You know, that thing which made epic tons of money, from that free game? That thing makes tons of money for sony. The amount of money Sony is getting from these games, is much bigger than their 1st party game sales. And because Sony has 120m ps4, there alot of users who spend money on mtx.

Here is simple math. 20m users spend 10$ on any f2p game battle pass for 1 month. Sony gets 3$. 3x20=$60m that is $60m from f2p battle pass games. That is $720m a year from those f2p games. This isnt counting all dlc, game sales, and other shit sales. That is the benifit of getting bigger player base. This is something you kids ignore alot.

Sony is home to 3rd party games. Its highest exclusive game they sold is spiderman and god of war. That is 1/5th,1/6th of their player base. Spderman is iconic super hero. God of war existed for long time. Now compare those stats to switch games. AC on switch sold 32.63m as of april. That is 1 year, on 86m console. You know those franchise, which I mentioned for playstation? Spiderman was 2018, and god of war was 2017. Both saw price decrease, which AC didnt. It sold that much for 60$.

Sony main bread and butter is 3rd party games. Their exclusive being on pc wont hurt them. Same for Xbox.

Funny story, Xbox was so shit, that is sold 55m consoles, despite having shit exclusives. Because people played it for 3rd party games. Same as how they do for their ps4, and now doing it for ps5.

DLC, MTX, and GAME SALES gives these companies 30% cut from those games. There are more than 1 thousand games on those consoles. That is alot of money, which they wont lose, because its not their games. Its 3rd party games, which exists on other console, and pc.

Sony putting their games on pc, means extra money for them.

Bottom line, both consoles wont get hurt if they sold their games on pc. Their money maker is those 3rd party games. Once those games are gone, both consoles will lose alot of money.

If there's no reason for PC ports, why did Sony execs open up a Playstation PC studio, buy Nixxes known for porting, and have already released PS games on PC? (With more on the way)

Most people are EXTREMELY price sensitive for this kind of thing. Console gamers aren't going to start flocking to PCs with 1k video cards, piecemeal hardware builds, and a clunky Windows OS. These people want to push a button and have fun. PC gaming is great for those that enjoy it. For PC gamers, messing with the hardware IS part of the fun. But it's definitely not for console fans.

The idea that one set of gamers is going to "switch sides" is ridiculous, and shows a complete lack of understanding of what attracts both sides. PC gaming is not going to take over consoles, and vice versa. Which is why putting your games on PC is fine. There is a market for both, and there will continue to be a market for both.

If your competitor is getting tons of money from steam, you will do it in a heart beat.

MS broadcasted their day1 games to the world at e3, that they were doing gamepass day1, steam, their pc client, and their console.

How much money do you think MS is making from these?

That is what is what sony is looking at it now. If sony doesnt do day1 pc now, they will let Xbox take them over. Especially with Xbox having strong line up, and Bethesda, biggest pc publisher.

You have no clue about what you're talking.

And I really don't think this is happening.
It’s the only reason I buy Playstation consoles. The Sony published exclusives. It’s almost exclusively what I play. With the off unique title like Cuphead.

BUT I doubt they’ll have games year one on PC. I buy games at full price digitally, even if I dont play them. Bought Crash Racing just for when people come over. I would easily switch to Epic games if Sony really cuts the PC porting under a year.

1. We have yet to see if Xbox has the stronger lineup as we haven't seen gameplay from most of the announced titles
2. There's risk and reward at play here. By doing day and date, you're devaluing your brand for a few more million

Personally, I don't think it's a good idea
