Not my favorite smell but I like the taste when used sparingly or correctly in a dish.

Vinegar based coleslaw > Mayo based coleslaw.

Some use both.

I once worked in a grocery store and someone knocked over a bottle. That smell never completely went away.

They are, everyone has a different amount and arrangement of the various sense receptors. On top of that there's genetic components. Me and about 20%-30% of other people find cilantro tastes of soap.

Whenever I get fish and chips I have no salt and ask for loads of vinegar.....and you know what? It's bloody lovely.

This man/woman knows what he/she is talking about. Fish & Chips, with a side of mussy peas & sprinkled with pepper & malt vinegar, is pure heaven.

I take it from the spread of the replies that Vinegar must be similar to Cilantro in that it's a love it or hate it thing.

I wonder if there's a connection? Love Cilantro and also love Vinegar. Salt and Vinegar chips are amazing imo.

I don't love vinegar but I like what it can do for certain foods.

Balsamic vinegar and good olive oil is the best thing. Also lots of mustards have vinegar thus vinegar is good.
