This thread is not about starting a witch hunt, or trying to find those people to expose them.
It's pretty obvious that Neogaf has been infiltrated by viral marketers, people paid by pr companies to pimp games and pretend to be superfans, and its been the case for years, heck, one of those clowns even outed himself in a thread by posting a screenshot of his resume this week; his posting history showed that he only posted about sony stuff, upcoming ps3 games, sony blog updates and etc. What's weird is that nothing has been done about him at all.
I think it's really, REALLY terrible; Viral Marketers should be eliminated on sight. They simply poison threads with fake positive impressions, and let's be honest, gaffers are a special breed of gamers, we dont rely on commericial reviews, we rely on each other for impressions. If those marketers start infiltrating us, then we can't even trust each other anymore.
I understand the need for promotion, but faking users like that is very low. It feels like bottom-level marketing, like the kind of shit you see on porn sites.
We do get some hilirious cases like the guy who tried to pimp the new line of beyblade toys (wtf), but it was harmless.. But seeing that dude's posting history and seeing that he was pretending to be a regular joe REALLY pissed me off.
How do you feel about this phenomenon? Like I said, let's not degenerate into accusations, name callings, etc. These people are hired by pr companies to post and pretend; regular gaffers, the gaf staff and Evilore have nothing to do with them.
