How many here want Microsoft to leave console gaming and why?

In many threads since the Xbones reveal, especially in the #xboxonenodrm thread, there have been many users saying they want Microsoft to leave console gaming for good. Sure it's not exactly shocking that some would feel that way, but as far as competition goes leaving the console space to just Sony and Nintendo doesn't seem like a smart idea, well to me anyway. I'd go so far to say that Sony's superfans should be happy MS is around because without them I believe the PS4 would be entirely different and ps+ may not exist as it is.

Anyway enough of my babble, what do you think?
Do you want MS to fail so horribly they exit the console space, and if you do why?

You may dislike them and their console but why the hell would you want them to leave? It creates a competitive market. Competition = Good for consumers.

Tunnel vision, fanboyism

Refusing to acknowledge that PSN would not be in the state it is if MS had not lit a fire under their ass with LIVE, etc..

Not only do I want Microsoft to stay in the console business I want them to thrive and continue to give Sony some healthy competition.

Leave? No. I want the competition. Competition is good. I just want them to start thinking more about their consumers and less about their wallets. I have no problem with them making a profit, but they really need to realize who it is that makes them that profit in the first place

I don't want them to leave console gaming. Console gaming needs to be a competitive market. I might not agree with the direction they are seemingly taking with the Xbone but I don't want them to abandon the market or get driven out of it because of their direction. If it comes to that they should change direction.

No, I largely agree with their vision and feel that it is the best thing for console gaming to remain vibrant. I just wish the specs were better but exclusive games will be good enough for me. My main 'console' from now until the day I die is the PC.

I don't want to see them fail - just would rather them make a product I want!

Fail on a smaller scale much funnier, see Xbone conference.

If they keep the anti consumers practices I want them to fail so horribly they close shop in all their operations.
Why because that would send a crystal clear message that this kind of shit doesn't fly.
I'll take less competition over no customer rights any day of the week.

Is that so hard to understand?

If we hadn't this close race between Sony and MS this gen, I doubt we would have seen so many excellent PS3 titles as we did. The only thing I think that needs to happen is MS getting a slap on the wrist.

Edit: A big one!

No one should want them to leave. We should want someone in charge who actually considers Sony their competition, not Apple or Google. This is why they're out of touch in the games market, they don't even care to address it.

This. I want that scrappy gaming focused, launch 360 company back, minus the rushed hardware and paid multiplayer.

And I want competition, not collusion.

I think everyone wants that, I just don't think it will sell well in today's market

Why should we want that? Competition is always better than monopoly.

Problem is... Microsoft always want monopoly, not only on gaming.

And we all know Microsoft never put customers first...

That why I don't want to see them winning big on gaming.

They don't need to leave. Competition is a good thing. Horrible anti-consumer practices are not. It's unfortunate that Microsoft's corporate mission statement is to screw the customer as much as possible. That's what needs to change.

If not for Microsoft, online play and OS on consoles wouldn't be what it is today. We'd be at Wii U levels right now. But Live pushed Sony to make PSN much better and feature-rich. This will be even more apparent with PS4.

It'd be cool if they were to give two shits about their operating system and gaming on it. They don't need to leave the console space to do that, though.

If they keep going down this path of entertainment first and games second with the Xbox, I think they will do more harm than good in the console industry. We'll see what they bring to the table come E3 though.

This is obviously true in the general sense, but whenever someone argues this I can't help but think of how fucking good PS1 and PS2 were. The lack of serious competition didn't stop them from having a shitload of good games. It guaranteed it.

Maybe I'm more of a one-console future guy than I thought. Which is not to say I necessarily want MS out of the game. I don't care much for what they've brought to the table, though. I could easily live without them in the console space.

If it weren't for 360 we wouldn't be getting a badass powerful Mark Cerny designed PS4. We'd be getting some weak ass shit with some arcane bizarre architecture. And Sony would probably get cross-game chat around 2036.

The competition is essential. Nintendo is always off doing weird lastgen stuff these days so they sure as fuck aren't going to provide it.

Every Sony fanboy: be really fucking grateful for Microsoft because they are making the company that you worship get their goddamn shit together.

I don't want anyone out of the market.

It's normal that I don't like some companies, but it's not fair to the people who likes them.

Why can't we all just get along? =P

I want both console to sell well.

/hate

Amen, I want both consoles to be awesome and sell well and have awesome exclusives that force both to keep one uping them selves.

I'll be buying both as lets be honest, the money for these comapnies IS NOT in buying the system, they either break even or lose money on that. The money is in us buying games and services with the systems. If they do stupid things like DRM that annoys me, or games that suck and look bad, I wont be buying many games, and they'll make no money off me. Who ever gives me the best gaming experiance gets the majority of my money. So have at it!
