So A couple of days ago I was at my cousin's wedding. The best man, who was the groom's older brother gave this speech. It got a fair amount of laughs from the crowd (even though I'm sure most of the audience didn't get a lot of it) and the gamers were pretty close to losing it. I've changed the names and a comma usually means a pause in this speech. I think these words are a testament to how much gaming is starting to permeate our culture.

Wow,
After 26 years of sibling rivalry, you can see that my brother has finally figured out who the best man really is.
I mean this, this here is a Triumph
.Im even going to making a note here : HUGE SUCCESS. Even with well thought out words, Its hard to overstate my satisfaction
In my mind and I am sure a few others, I want you to know I consider this marriage Epic
or Purple for some of you in the crowd. I know this will stand the test of time,
just as Link did with Zelda,
or Jim Raynor did with Sarah Kerrigan (before the war) .
If you know anything about my brother, you know that he likes video games. Daniel was never very social in the contexts of going out, and playing baseball, or competing in track and field. He never really liked the idea of sunlight, or fresh air, or RL as we like to call it. This is known as Real Life for the rest of you.
Daniel would spend hours and hours in the basement
.sitting on a squeaky bunk bed on the cold concrete floor and usually a small jug of chocolate milk with some sour kids or a large bag of chocolate m&ms as his sustenance of choice. After enough time he even got the name Basement Troll
Some might look down on Daniel for spending so much time in front of a screen, some might say 13 hours of video games in a day is too much. I disagree, I sat beside him playing these very games for all these countless hours. From Nintendo to Super Nintendo, N64 and Game Cube up to Wii Daniel devoted his life to helping Mario save the Princess. There was no stopping him, he swam through oceans littered with squids and fish, trudged through deserts infested by dancing cacti. He has killed countless turtles and battled Bowser more times than I can count. I didnt know it then, But I know it now. My Brother was practicing for This Very Day I am very happy to know that my brother found his Princess, and she is not in another castle!
Daniel, I wish you and Heather all the best now and forever. As you go through life together, always love each other, respect each other and be there for each other. Never forget to say "I'm sorry" when you mess up and never go to bed angry. Separately, you're both wonderful people, but together you take life to a new level. I love you both. Congratulations!
