Puerto Rico is still currently taking refugees from the smaller islands that took the full brunt of Irma a week ago. There's still people in PR without power or water as a result from Irma too.

Those smaller island are in no shape to take another major Hurricane, and PR itself will be in crisis mode if the NHC models stay true.

Right now everyone is still in recovery mode, but are potentially faced with category 4 winds less than a week from now. Please pray or hope for these smaller islands.

People in the mainland often forget that PR and the USVI are US territories and full of American citizens (its sad that this is the only way we often get people to pay attention to this area).

I want to see us (Puerto Rico) dodge this one. We were extremely lucky with Irma, and most early models on that one always suggested a shift to the north and so it happened. Now with Maria ALL models predict that it will enter Puerto Rico on Wednesday evening as a Cat 3, staying in the area for a good 12 hours. I expect to be without power for at least a month. ¡Esto se jodió (this is fucked up!)!

This is just fucking insane, hoping for the best for these already battered islands and communities.

Fuuuuuuuuuck, I still don't have electricity and now this, guess I'll go buy more water and candles...

Please be safe. This path is awfully cruel

If this thing hits as hard as it's projected to, I really don't know what's going to be left of the Virgin Islands (US and others). Which absolutely sucks. I've been to St Thomas a couple times, and I've met nothing but nice people and I really like it there.

My old man in Puerto Rico still has issues with electricity and water thanks to Irma. The island along with the rest of the caribbean sure as hell doesn't need to deal with this shit again. Fuck off Maria.

has calmed down a bit.
St. Croix here. Our airport is a big staging area for supplies to st. Thomas and the other islands. We took in patients from those islands and some are still here. And now we are about to take a direct hit. This is such terrible news.

Yeah... A couple weeks ago Macau and HK got absolutely battered by Typhoon Hato (it was the first Signal 10 hoisted in 20 years), only to be slammed by Pakhar a week later. Macau looked like a warzone outside the casinos, the local PLA garrison was deployed for the first time to help with the cleanup.

This year is one for the books, as far as extreme storms are concerned. The US establishment can deny climate change all it wants, but the bills and lives are racking up. Nature doesn't care much about political divides and election cycles.

Wondering if some family would want to head out to our home to ride the storm out, but I can hear chainsaws right now still on cleanup duty.

Damn Maria formed fast. Lee behind it formed early and is predicted to fizzle out. Maria sorta just popped out of nowhere. GL PR

I whinny my fervor lowly, for his length is not as great as those of the Hylian war stallions

The forecast that far out is not a foregone conclusion.

But it's not looking good, certainly make what preparations you can (again).

Yep, this is Hurricane George part 2. I got electricity back a couple of days ago and I'm just enjoying the days with electricity until we're dark for at least a month. One problem is that since Irma left a lot of trees on the streets there's a lot of debris out there that can potentially be dangerous.

So, here we go again.

We were already prepared for Irma. Got a good stock of supplies and water for a week. Hopefully it won't be that bad but I'm fearful for the worst.

Welp, see you guys next year. Probably gonna lose power for a couple of months starting Wednesday morning. Hopefully not, but let's be real. Worst part is I was really enjoying Metroid Samus Returns... Can I beat it before the blackout? The world may never know.

How is it? I guess that's a stupid question. I'm just sorta hoping you say "eh its not as bad, don't worry, you won't lose your last semester at uni"

I'm in Martinique, north of St Lucia, and the wind is scary. But it's likely nothing compared to what Dominica must be experiencing. They really are screwed :(

EDIT : Right now the rain is becoming insanely heavy.

These intensifications...

My mother is in St. Thomas and might experience back-to-back Category 5 hurricanes.

Good thing the resort where she works at is built like a rock.

Relatively calm with some light showers, we had a few landslides but no fatalities so far. Had power and water the entire day

Damn. Stay safe friend. Hope you and yours get through this all right.

Huh, I guess thats because of the small size of the eye which the extreme winds circle. I'm glad it's okay in St. Lucia. Hope it stays that way

Well, after tomorrow I may not be here for some time so... Fuck. I love hurricanes but never a Cat 5. I was just dining at a local restaurant, a wood structure, and I was having a conversation with the owner. He isn't planning on doing anything just waiting for whatever happens to his business. Sucks.
