I don't understand what is the point of life.

What makes you jump out of bed every morning and continue enjoying life?

How did you get to where you are today? Did you endure any hardships? Do you enjoy what you do for a living?

How do you cope with feeling miserable?

I'm having trouble seeing where my life will go from here as on some days, I don't see the point of living any more.

There isn't a point, just try and have fun until it's all over. Think of it the other way, none of this or us matter at all in the bigger scale of things, so why get worked up over anything?

There is no point to life. I guess you could say technically the only point is continue living until you cannot anymore. But literally besides that its pointless.

Your a human though. Human life is different in the sense that your conscious and have emotions. So just do what makes you happy. Fuck everything else.

Second thread like this today. My life is interesting. I've been all over the world and have a new 2 month old baby. I'll post more later but one of the most basic instincts of life is to pass on it's genes.

More importantly, you need to call someone if you're feeling suicidal. Call me if need be. PM me.

Be careful to not word how you really feel, OP. Based on some of what you said at the end there, the thread could be locked with a mod bot posting a generic message about calling a anti suicide hotline. It's neogaf policy now.

Just to see what new things lie ahead. Today I did fuck up an d thought one of my finals was due at midnight. It was 40% of my grade, so I failed the class. To cope I took a nap.

Also, you only have limited time on Earth, why not maximize your enjoyment and experience as many things as possible.

Just think of how awesome it is that the universe somehow created a little memory box called humanity (and other creatures).

It may be depressing that it ends, but it's still kinda nice.

That's not awesome. That's a joke.

It's like if I give you a present for Christmas just to take it away. Might as well just not give it to begin with.

The point of life is finding the answer to your first question. You have one life and no one said it's an easy one but that's why you have to push aside the negative and make the most out of it.

Honestly I have had a lot of time to reflect. I don't think I care much anymore. I feel very depressed lately.

There is no point, except to experience the journey. Better make it a good one.

There isn't a point, just try and have fun until it's all over. Think of it the other way, none of this or us matter at all in the bigger scale of things, so why get worked up over anything?

I've tried to think of it that way, but what is this journey you talk about?

Just think of how awesome it is that the universe somehow created a little memory box called humanity (and other creatures).

Meh. Maybe, but in the end, we all end up in the same state.

There is no point to life. I guess you could say technically the only point is continue living until you cannot anymore. But literally besides that its pointless.

Your a human though. Human life is different in the sense that your conscious and have emotions. So just do what makes you happy. Fuck everything else.

Isn't that narcissistic and selfish?
My life is interesting. I've been all over the world and have a new 2 month old baby. I'll post more later but one of the most basic instincts of life is to pass on it's genes.

I see.

For someone who hasn't achieved that, congrats.

Well, there's no point in dying either, except that choice is permanent and unfixable. So don't do that.

You mean no point in suicide.

Be careful to not word how you really feel, OP. Based on some of what you said at the end there, the thread could be locked with a mod bot posting a generic message about calling a anti suicide hotline. It's neogaf policy now.

Ah. Thanks for the heads up.

Just think I don't really have anything to offer for this world.

Life seems like I either work for someone else's dream or I start my own business when I don't have any good ideas, which will lead to failure.

Just to see what new things lie ahead. Today I did fuck up an d thought one of my finals was due at midnight. It was 40% of my grade, so I failed the class. To cope I took a nap.

Grades don't matter.

Socializing matters.

I learned that the hard way.

our star, the sun was created. it shined its light on earth for a long time. through that energy, all life on earth was created. our limited consciousness was created. to experience the light and all that occurs under the light. to experience itself

Hey maybe before we die cool shit will happen. AI, Augmentation, Nuclear Fusion, Mars Mission, Life Extension, Blowing Up the Moon. We probably won't get to use any of it for ourselves, but the next generations might, maybe!

What makes you jump out of bed every morning and continue enjoying life?
My lover, friends, current and future professions, and hobbies.

How did you get to where you are today? Did you endure any hardships? Do you enjoy what you do for a living?
Rigorous hardwork, yes there were hardships, I wouldn't choose to do anything else for a living.

How do you cope with feeling miserable?
One of the best parts of having a large amount of friends is having a large amount of people to confide in. Or drawing my sorrows away. Or playing video games, many things to do that helps with feeling positive.

I'm having trouble seeing where my life will go from here as on some days, I don't see the point of living any more.
You're overthinking it, enjoy it to the fullest. You seemingly only get one chance. There is so much to enjoy, especially in this age where we have the internet.

I do it for the upvotes.

Reddit and YouTube?

Have fun, live it to the fullest. Don't worry too much, enjoy it each and every day and say FUCK IT from time to time.

How do you do that personally?

The point of life is whatever you want it to be. You know what you want out of life, if you really think about it. Go for it!

I really don't, and it depresses me.

What do you suggest for someone who is lost to do for the meanwhile?

Honestly I have had a lot of time to reflect. I don't think I care much anymore. I feel very depressed lately.

I don't know either hence I created this thread.

That's for you to decide. Cool, isn't it?

How did you decide yourself?

Do you like your job?

Do you like your social life?

I don't have many friends, and I think I fucked up my college experience by not networking well.

Should I start over life?

There's no point. Just try to enjoy the ride however you can.

Do you enjoy what you do for a living?

What is your social life like?

The purpose is the pursuit of pleasure. The world is a massive playground. What blockades you may find in one place can be easily overcome in another.

What do you mean by that?

Easy, just have fun

Eh. You better be careful with jobs that require drug testing.

To shoot dna at each other

Do you have kids?

I have a crippling fear of death that keeps me awake at night, but lately I've found a coping mechanism in always looking for a way to make myself laugh, or discovering a new food to enjoy, or ignoring the idea that the universe will end one day. To be fair, the fact that I must die and that ultimately the earth will stop existing one day sends me into a panic attack and cold sweat, but if I avoid thinking about it it makes it somewhat easier.

Your best bet is to keep finding new reasons to live and to enjoy the time you have been gifted. Plan to visit a place you've never experienced before, or get out of your comfort zone and do something you've never done before like skydiving, or learn a new skill such as drawing or playing an instrument. Find new freshness in life.

Life is like Disneyland, you may not have been able to do everything you wanted in one day, but the stuff you did do made the trip worthwhile. I remember someone on Reddit posting something like that two years ago or so, and it really stuck with me.

Sure some people don't believe there is a point to life. To living it. We're nought but matter in a cause & effect universe without true free will.
On the other hand, some people believe wholeheartedly that life, the universe, everything has a point.
When someone says life has no meaning, they haven't held their dying child in their hands.
Think of all those things that little child could have experienced. And didn't.
From the littlest things
Having ice cream. Feeling the wind.
To the biggest.
To having a child. To losing a father.
If life didn't have a point, if we didn't matter to someone, nobody nowhere would ever feel miserable.

I see.

For someone who hasn't achieved that, congrats.

Thanks.

Where are you from? How old are you?

I've been to places where I've seen people in situations where I thank God I wasn't born in their situation. No matter how shitty things get with myself, I always know it could be worse. It doesn't immediately fix the situation, but it puts things into perspective.

Finding a reason to live can be easy for most folks; start a family, career, religion, etc. It can be hard for others though when it seems like things are out of their grasp. I knew a guy who was depressed in college because of how insignificant we were in the universe and how humanity will be nothing but a blip in the long history of it. I had to tell him that we as a species are blessed with life. The chances of us getting to where we are today is slim to none. A great deal of "circumstances" had to occur for him to be in front of me being depressed.

OP, you may not have found the point of living your life, but that doesn't mean you'll never find it. If you're healthy, you'll have a long life to live. You'll have plenty of time to figure out your purpose.

Feel the same way man. Trying to find purpose in anything seems futile.

Human relations are so tiring and difficult to maintain, so much easier to just let them fade.

Life goals require so much work and the pay off never seems good enough.

Just maintaining the status quo is an amazing accomplishment.

I mean that if you are unable to be happy in one place or situation, changing it can make all the difference. Staying in a rut is going to keep you in a rut. Every time I've moved locations or jobs or relationships it has made significant improvements to my life. Even now where I don't make much money what I've learned has become invaluable to me.

Even something as simple as traveling gives massive changes in perspective.

There isn't a point which sucks. Just ride it out until the end and try to enjoy the small things. Getting too caught up in the negatives of life will always keep a person down.

Not much point really. But what's the alternative, death? No thanks.
There are still a lot of things that I enjoy doing in life. I realize that a lot of people are depressed and do not experience enjoyment out of anything anymore. And I feel for them.
