I found a vagina in Watch Dogs 2 and Sony suspended me (Update: Ban lifted)

Witcher 1 from the distant year of 2007 had full female nudity (no male though), and I don't remember there being much of a fuss over that.

Rated R movies don't even show the female genitalia in such graphic detail. This is straight up pornographic.

Maybe by US standards. Europe isn't as easily shocked.

I think all you can accurately see are labia majora, actually.

Seriously though, this is ridiculous. I'm all for artistic integrity in games, and apparently they have penises in the game too, but exactly what purpose does it serve? Kids have plenty of wank bank material without needing vag in their games, which makes it seem like some dev slipped it in for the lulz.

Edit: ok slipping it in pun aside, if all these vids of nudists roaming around are watchdogs too, then the upskirt shot is meaningless. They are in your face with the nudity... Sony just doesnt want it on PS feeds apparently.

Oversight by ESRB maybe, unless this still falls within the M rating.
Accuracy and realism? Fine with me.

Detail doesn't make something porn. Medical diagrams are extremely detailed, they're not porn. Pornography is intended to titillate, that has very little to do with detail.

Why is the vagina fully textured? Why are the panties crotchless?

There is no reason for this to exist other than to titillate.

Ubi, if you don't censor this, I promise I will buy the PC Gold Edition. Games need more 4k ultra textured vaginas.

We’re writing to inform you that your Sony Entertainment Network account has been temporarily suspended.

We’ve made this decision based on your online activity in Live from PlayStation on 14-11-2016.

Content of an adult or sexual nature is against our Code of Conduct.

The suspension will last 1 week and will be lifted on 21-11-2016. You won’t be able to access online multiplayer, PlayStation Store and other network features until the suspension is over.

We take the decision to suspend an account very seriously, and we only do so after one of our moderators has carefully analysed the situation. PlayStation Support therefore cannot overturn this moderation decision.

We ask all our players to act decently, respectfully and with consideration for us and other players while using PlayStation Network. To make sure you understand the behaviour we expect from our community, please review the Code of Conduct here before returning to PlayStation Network. Please be aware that any further breaches of the Code of Conduct may result in a longer suspension or even a permanent ban.

Yours sincerely,

SIEE Moderation
It's simple, OP. Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you're allowed to.

You are ridiculous. You're basically saying that no game should have "content of an adult or sexual nature".

I'm ridiculous now? Well I think it's YOU that is ridiculous sir.

Anyway, it's stupid that Sony are fine with a polygonal vagina being in the game but don't dare let the outside world see that there's a polygonal vagina or what? It's stupid.

That makes no sense.

You can walk round your own house with your cock hanging out, doesn't mean you can walk down the street with in hanging out too.

Except it's not in the street is it. It's all part of the same service.

Introduce better filtering or an age gate. Suspending people is overkill.

It is "in the street",there is a question mark over how the share system works with mature content, and potentially anyone (even those with parentally restricted accounts) can see it , hence the issue.

Then they should fix it and not punish consumers for sharing something that they're fine with being in the game.

P.S It's not in the street it's not a real tangible thing it's a service.

Evidently prostitutes wear crotchless panties (going by a comment in the thread). Seems they're going for accuracy.

In my experience, it's not just prostitutes that wear them though..haha. :)

As an Americian, I apologize to the rest of the world for the stupidity of our reaction to the human body. Neither the male or female anatomy in the game bother me.

You agreed to abide by the TOS of the system, which includes not sharing (potentially) offensive material, if you don't, you get banned, it's that simple.

The game is rated 18, the share system isn't.

But what is offensive material? Why some Joe Random don't get slap on the wrist for sharing mass shootings and murder via PSN, something he just pulled off in GTAV and was so cool? Drawing a line at virtual genitalia is just laughable at this point.

If the TOS says you have to do ten jumping jacks before you turn on the system or connect to PSN, that doesn't make it sensible.

The problem is not the adults playing the game but the tons of kids that got it. Yep it's not UBI fault and parents should be awared about what their kids play.

If an adult thinks is weird/extrange/etc seeing that on a videogame just imagine how a kid would react.

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
No, it's not. The game has an M rating, meaning mature. Its content is not for everyone. I'm glad that there are games with mature content. That doesn't mean I'd subject children to it.

Note that if you use your PlayStation camera to broadcast your penis, they'll ban you, too.

Then Sony should improve their share system, say disable the feature on Mature/AO titles, or add a gate to warn player about screenshots from mature game, or force Ubisoft to issue a censor patch or anything.

I don't think that's good enough. It's anti-consumer, just because the system is flawed then that doesn't mean you can suspend people in place of a better way of dealing with screenshots from a rated game. Should we suspend someone who posts something violent from a game just because a child might see it?

I don't even understand what the repercussions for the wider world are for posting a hilarious polygonal vagina anyway. Who does it harm? Maybe the kids can stay off PSN and we as adults can continue sharing video game genitals and headshots without fear of reprisal.

That's up to the platform holder to decide.

And frankly makes Sony look quite stupid. Getting all bothered about virtual genitalia, but mass murder is good to go in unrated sharing system. Makes no sense how one is somehow ruining our kids while another isn't.

Brings up whole discussion that maybe Sony really should develop that system further and have games that aren't rated E being gated away. System has age gate settings enabled then => stuff over E rating doesn't pop up into shared feeds.

If kids are actually playing W_D2 then banning user for sharing picture of vagina won't stop these said kids from seeing it themselves in-game.

Guys, PSN doesn't stand for Police State Network.

Or do you want Nintendo's Miiverse solution, where we don't have screenshots for MGS3, but RE Mercenaries (PAL)? That's the "fix" some of you are howling for.

To be blunt, it's tough, the TOS is pretty broad, so you could potentially get banned for a number of things.

As for what harm it does, nothing to me, but I guess that if the share system isn't age gated, and even mature content gets pushed to everyone, then there is an issue.

How Sony deal with that issue is up to them, like I said, we all agree to the TOS when we sign up, so even if you think it's not sensible, you still have to abide by it, or risk getting a ban.

I think America takes more offense to this than other countries. While we accept violence, other countries seem to except nudity a lot more than the US. Since Ubisoft is kind of French, I am sure they thought this was not a big issue. Just my thought.

That doesn't change the discussion, we know it's the TOS, I'm saying it's ridiculous and flawed.
