Fucking Kotaku is what happen to Vice after it was sold. Click bait, articles showered in current social climate and how that relates to video games. Catering to people that don't or won't even play said video games to make them feel included.
This woman Ash, who will let you know how she feels about a video game not accepting a demographic or how they got a black person wrong in said video game. She can't go with out writing one article that states something along the lines of this...
"And, ho boy, my attention starved, 14-year-old Black ass going to a predominantly white school would have killed Sin several times over for some tenderness, affection, and love."
She made a article out of being aroused by a video game, simple barebones of it. Most of her articles are clickbait along with "dear diary" entries but no one tells her, "No, leave this shit to your personal writing"
why hasn't this thread gotten gilded already?!
Bo_Hazem you slacking bro.
When I read this thread, I think that sex is very much a taboo. But of course, I may be wrong.I wouldn't consider sex being taboo in 2021 America. Some people just appreciate modesty. Porn has been defended by the courts and whatnot. Look at the stuff that is in music videos and on TV award shows. My wife was watching True Blood a few months back, my god, I couldn't believe the stuff that was on there. I'm not a prude by any means, just had no idea how sexualized that show is.
Yet I don't see what is embarrassing about the article. I think that many comments making fun like children are actually embarrassing, and that is the behaviour I'd like to see called uponI think that maybe bullied is too harsh a term here, but otherwise I don't think he is wrong. Bullying is an extreme form of social pressure. The other extreme is approving of poor behavior rather than giving it the laugh and shame that it deserves. Making fun of someone for odd or embarrassing behavior is what is called good social pressure. It's become negatively perceived today, but it's actually a crucial part of development and maturing. Most if not all of us learned not to do certain things or exhibit certain behaviors when our classmates laughed at us for it.
I feel like a lot of this hyper-sexualized stuff that makes its way into lyrics and writing is fine for an adult audience but not necessarily good for consumption to a general audience. Her article would be right at home in a Playboy. On that website... it all just depends on what kind of attention they're seeking I guess.
Yes many things are taboo, like the casting couch, supposedly public knowledge yet taboo. This is how stuff like incest becomes known in a family and kept as known yet taboo subject of discussion. When I read this thread, I think that sex is very much a taboo. But of course, I may be wrong.

I will throw away any decency and any nuance now, but anyone who really endorses bullying should get hit in the face with a stone. It's an idea that is not justifiable, no matter how picturesque it is portrayed.I think that maybe bullied is too harsh a term here, but otherwise I don't think he is wrong.

A little shaming and laughing is fine, but that doesn't automatically correlate to bullying. I am not taking my gloves off, whatever that means, I'm just saying that you guys are fucking absurd to even think about endorsing this shit. If you don't equate schoolmates laughing and teasing in an acceptable manner with bullying, then what's your point to begin with?So that's it, you're taking the gloves off? I think it's inaccurate to equate schoolmates laughing at someone or even teasing them with bullying.
...are many effects of bullying. The recent Blizzard accusations are an example of bullying at toxic workplaces. Would both you correlate that to a little shaming and laughing as well? There are plenty instances where this happens. You can't just put a blind eye here and justify it with "well, little fellow, it sucks that you get beaten, get spit on and ridiculed on a daily basis, but hey, just need to learn some basic cultural norms and learn how to fit in."suicide, shootings, and extremism
A worse form of bullying doesn't justify "good ol' fashioned" bullying.today's modern 24/7 social media bullying.
Of course there are different levels of bullying. Some is healthy and is natural as part of evolution. Too much is unhealthy. Your apparent position that all forms of negative social pressure are bad is harmful to the psychological development of kids. Learning how to deal with adversity is part of growing up. Not learning this leads to way worse outcomes later in life as evidence by all statistics today.A little shaming and laughing is fine, but that doesn't automatically correlate to bullying. To be honest, I wish both of guys getting bullied, and I am not talking about this sugarcoated version of bullying you apparently have in your mind where it's just about a few cheap shots and laughing at weird ideas.
I meant more a watch list for sexual predators but sureFor a brain transplant?!
I just differentiate between what you consider bullying and what actually is and should be considered bullying:Of course there are different levels of bullying. Some is healthy and is natural as part of evolution. Too much is unhealthy. Your apparent position that all forms of negative social pressure are bad is harmful to the psychological development of kids. Learning how to deal with adversity is part of growing up. Not learning this leads to way worse outcomes later in life as evidence by all statistics today.
Also your last sentence seems to me that you wish that I would be bullied in order to conform to your position that bullying is bad. So is bullying good to show that bullying is bad? Therefore by your own logic bullying is good.
- Direct bullyingrefers to harming others by directly getting at them. It is done by one or a group of pupils repeatedly against some children at school. These children:
- Are threatened or blackmailed or have their things stolen
- Are insulted or get called nasty names
- Have nasty tricks played on them/are subject to ridicule
- Are hit, shoved around or beaten up
- Relational bullying refers to damage relationships between friends and destroy status in groups to hurt or upset someone. Over and over again some children at school:
- Get deliberately left out of get-togethers, parties, trips or groups
- Have others ignore them, not wanting to be their friend anymore, or not wanting them around in their group
- Have nasty lies, rumours or stories told about them
- Cyberbullyingis when someone tries to upset and harm a person using electronic means (eg, mobile phones, text messages, instant messaging, blogs, websites (eg, Facebook, YouTube) or emails)
- Have their private email, instant mail or text messages forwarded to someone else or have them posted where others can see them
- Have rumours spread about them online
- Get threatening or aggressive emails, instant messages or text messages
- Have embarrassing pictures posted online without their permission
Bullying is the systematic abuse of power and is defined as aggressive behaviour or intentional harm-doing by peers that is carried out repeatedly and involves an imbalance of power. Being bullied is still often wrongly considered as a ‘normal rite of passage’.
Bullied students typicaly lose confidence in themselves. They can develop physical symptoms such as headaches, stomach pains or sleeping problems.
The bullies are more likely violent and at risk to commit crimes later in life. The people who witness the bullying tend to keep quiet and do nothing because they are afraid to be the next victim of bullies.
Childhood bullying has serious effects on health, resulting in substantial costs for individuals, their families and society at large. In the USA, it has been estimated that preventing high school bullying results in lifetime cost benefits of over $1.4 million per individual.85 In the UK alone, over 16 000 young people aged 11–15 are estimated to be absent from state school with bullying as the main reason, and 78 000 are absent where bullying is one of the reasons given for absence.86 Many bullied children suffer in silence, and are reluctant to tell their parents or teachers about their experiences, for fear of reprisals or because of shame.87 Up to 50% of children say they would rarely, or never, tell their parents, while between 35% and 60% would not tell their teacher.11
Considering this evidence of the ill effects of being bullied and the fact that children will have spent much more time with their peers than their parents by the time they reach 18 years of age, it is more than surprising that childhood bullying is not at the forefront as a major public health concern.8
You really don't need turn around what I actually mean. No bullying is not good, even in this scenario, however, if you had experienced some bullying, and again not this sugar coated version, you would perhaps get a broader and more nuanced perspective and see that it's not beneficial. Also your last sentence seems to me that you wish that I would be bullied in order to conform to your position that bullying is bad. So is bullying good to show that bullying is bad? Therefore by your own logic bullying is good.

I love how she openly backhanded Kotaku but wouldn't even have the exposer she has currently without being a part of them. This is an actual quote from that article you linked:
"I had convinced myself that I was so poor in skill and talent that Kotaku was going to be the only place I’d ever work and that someone would have to peel me off the walls to get me to leave."
So I guess even the employees there realize what a dumpster fire of an outlet it is?????

If you haven't watched the parody movie CB4 about gangsta rap in the early 90's you should, it's got some good laughs. What the hell is even that? "I'm resigning! There is a life lesson that this new generation of idiots really need to learn:
NOBODY GIVES A SHIT ABOUT YOU, WHO YOU ARE, WHAT YOU'VE DONE, OR WHAT YOU WANT TO DO. SO STOP THINKING YOU'RE SO DAMN SPECIAL. NOBODY CARES.
Okay, thank you. Move along,
