i have a good PC, and money for one console, either a Switch or PS4

Gay porn is where it's at.
never owned any of the two, have zero interest in PS5 since PS4 is way cheaper here and the console still got a few years left in it plus huge backlog, the switch is also very tempting and it would be my first Nintendo console since the NES actually, i have no needs for xbox really since i have PC

both consoles have games i am interested in, so the choice is hard, i need help

It depends what kind of games you like. I'd go PS4, but you dont seem that bothered about graphics so Switch also has great games.
I believe most Playstation games are ccoming to PC over the next few years, so maybe Switch.
Only you know what kind of games you like.

PS4. Switch can be emulated depending on your specs. Switch HW is crap and tends to break (Joycon drift) besides Nintendo games are expensive, while you can have sony exclusives really cheap on sale.

Hmm, kind of a hard choice indeed.

I would say get the Switch. PS4 has a massive library. My PS4 collection will probably be bigger than my Switch collection, in the end, but this is in part because I'm getting games for it that also came out for PC. If I had a PC, my PS4 collection would be 1/3rd of the size it is now whereas I can't think of many Switch games that I'd trim out. If you haven't played Nintendo since NES, then Switch's library will feel genuinely distinct from what you'll get on PS4 (and PC).

Need more info on your tastes.
Going off absolutely nothing at all, I'd say Switch. Breath of the Wild is game of the generation for me, but there's not much else that I absolutely love on it.
There's allot of overlap between PS4 and PC releases, but Bloodborne and Persona 5 Royal are some strong exclusives.
What do you like?

This actually isn't that hard at all. Both the Switch and PS4 have great exclusives, just get the one that has more exclusives you want to play.

Get a PS5, why waste $400 on a PS4 right now when you could play enhanced ps4 games & PS5 games by getting the PS5

As for the switch, I would wait it out to see if Nintendo announces the Pro in the next 6 month

Same situation and I chose Switch, OP.
Nice to get off the couch/chair a bit more but is portability a factor for you?
You might be one of the target markets for 3D All-Stars too - probably not a bad way to catch up.

Yuzu is impressive but has a looong way to go yet.

Nintendo Switch. It has some of the greatest games ever made, including the NES and SNES ones if you get Nintendo Online (which you'll want to get, it's pretty inexpensive).

You NEED:

Zelda Breath of the Wild
Super Mario Odyssey
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Super Smash Bros Ultimate
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2 (if you like JRPGs)
Fire Emblem Three Houses (if you like Strategy RPGs)

I have both and i prefer PS4. Huge amount of great exclusives.

Nintendo Switch is cool but considering it was released in 2017, it should had a better library by now. I see as a secondary platform.

The dominant console for the mature gamer with some casual offerings, or the true casual console.

The question comes down to age and tastes. I see a lot of the same old "no gameplay - movie, movie" nonsense being thrown around. Poor fellas haven't felt the light in years. Meanwhile God of War will probably be concensus GAF Game of the Generation and TLOU II, despite the concerted campaign to knock it down a peg, will win GOTY. Ahh the feeling of salt... bitter taste.

I have both, PS4. I've played maybe 5 games on my Switch since I got it 2+ years ago? And maybe 80+ titles on my PS4?

Really depends if Nintendo games are a must play for you or not. There’s not really another company out there quite like them whereas I think it’s easier to get something sorta similar on PC to the Sony exclusives.

To me, PC/Switch will most likely get you the broadest spectrum of games.

Plus the portability factor of the Switch is huge to me.

If you don’t mind waiting, regular PS4s will be silly cheap in about a year or so simply because the PS5 makes them completely obsolete with full backwards compatibility. They’ll just be extra boxes taking up space.

Tough choice. It's honestly close enough for me that is just flip a coin. So many great exclusives on both.

I'd guess I lean towards PS4, because eventually you'll get to emulate a lot of Nintendo titles. BotW especially runs great on Cemu. But it does have some really fantastic titles too that shouldn't be missed, Luigi's Mansion 3, Mario Odyssey, Animal Crossing, etc... Also being able to travel with the thing can be a great distraction on a long car ride or plane.

That said, there are some stellar titles on PlayStation that deserve at least a once over. Ghost of Tsushima, God of War, Spiderman, The Last if Us, Bloodborne. My only problem with the PS4, and it's especially terrible if you are a PC gamer is that those games all run at 30fps and you'll constantly have it in the back of your mind how much better they'd be at 60fps. I'd even say some of those great games would be better played on PS5 at 60 fps or to wait for an eventual PC port.

Again though tough choice. Flip a coin.

that's a really tough choice...if you have 100% control/access to a tv during the pandemic, PS4...otherwise, Switch

you really can't go wrong

edit: too late, good choice

Wait. Get a PS5 digital or Switch (next upgrade). Patience will pay off in the long run on this purchase.

If you value handheld mode and Nintendo first party games a lot, get Switch.

If you don't care about handheld mode and like a more robust library of third party games get PS4.

Depends on your taste.

If I were you, and I had a good PC. I'd go with Switch because it delivers a different experience.

I came to say this - I have 2 gaming PCs with VR etc and a Switch. The Switch came after years of being PC only. The Switch now gets all my gaming time.

I think the Switch, despite reports of joystick drift, is the perfect compliment to a PC. It provides a separate experience both in its first party library and it's approach to hardware, in which it does things a PC never will do. Good choice, OP.

I think PS4 is more value for money, you get the big mainstream games and the great B-tier Japanese stuff like Gravity Rush 2 or Aegis Rim.

I have maybe 5 or 6 Switch games, only because they are Switch exclusive (stuff like Daemon X Machina, Astral Chain, Octopath Traveler), otherwise I would not even have bought the damn thing.

I think you should get a switch because I am a masochist and enjoy that old school retro feel that comes from running inferior previous generation hardware :(
