I kind of want a Wii U because it doesn't have so many good games.

This may seem like bad reasoning, but hear me out.

1. Makes it easier to decide what to play next.

2. Less temptation to buy lots of games that just fill your backlog.

3. Hopefully the few games you do have will be enjoyed more because you wont be trying to finish it fast in order to move on to the next game.

4. Nintendo releases games that can be refreshing in a sea of shooter sequels.

I'm sorry but that makes no sense.

instead of getting a wii u, get some self-control.

You should go talk to a homeless person and tell him that its good that he cant afford anything because that way he really gets to enjoy a cheeseburger when he gets to eat one.

Which games are you considering to get for it? If they really interest you then I'd say go for it.

Just buy Monster Hunter Tri U.

Right, I would rather have one game I enjoy and put time into, than 10 games I play for 5-6 hours each and never touch again.

Other pluses:

- Off TV Play for when the GF wants to watch TV
- Cheapest system (although PS4 is probably best value)
- No online subscription costs

If thats what it takes to get a Wii U into your house you should do it.

I've had mine for months now and I like it. Tons of great stuff on the horizon and no DRM/used games/anti consumer crap to deal with.

On similar logic, I love the first two years of any console because the libraries are so small that essentially every owner has played the same games. The sense of shared experience is pretty neat.

I have a better option. Send me all your money. That way you don't have to get ANY games! If you send me more than $70, I'll also ship you Wonderful 101 for free :)

You're not going to find wisdom 'round these here parts ;-)

If that's what works for you go for it, though why you would think you'd find any kind comments around here beyond scoffing, disgust and sarcasm is beyond my reach.

I will always buy Nintendo consoles because I love playing Nintendo games and the occassional third party offering doing something neat.

That said, Nintendo consoles became a mandatory second console for me three generations ago. It's not my primary console and I don't play it the most but there's always times when I'm very glad I've owned one and I'm sure the WiiU will be the same. I've had alot of fun with it so far and a whole bunch of great games look to be coming soon. I'm very excited about The Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, Super Mario World 3D, Mario Kart, X, Smash Bros, and whatever else is on the horizon.

I should preface that I have a good gaming PC and have consistently kept an up to date gaming PC since 1998 or so.

The only problem with Wii U is that games like Mario 3D world should have been a launch title.

I think that's the first thing I said when I saw the footage. Where the heck was this last year?!?

The only problem with the Wii U is that it is almost too good.

I suppose you could replace GeOW 2 with Wii U.

can someone explain the original use of "only problem with gears is its almost too good" from (ryan I think) on 1up show?

I remember him saying but cant remember what the hell he meant. Did he mean because it spoils other games you try and play after?

Mars
Little Inferno and Bit Trip Runner 2

Those two should not be the best games I've played on that system.

I want to love my Wii U. I turn it on, every couple of days, just to see if maybe I missed something. Maybe something came out I didn't know about. Anything. It never does.

This.

1. Yup it's easier to decide what to play next until there's nothing left to be played

2. Of course there is less temptation (for now) You'll be frustrated in the future if there's nothing left to be played

3. Yup you won't rush finishing the games you have since once you finish them there's nothing left to be played

EDIT: Just my opinion bro. but it's your choice. All you need is some discipline or self control

If you don't want to play shooters on other consoles, you don't have to. It doesn't take much brainpower to skip Gears, Halo, Killzone, and Uncharted and find the stuff below the surface.

I think what he means is that on WiiU, since they don't sell there anyway, it's more likely that games of other kinds are the majority on the platform.

with that said

0/10 for the whole thing, sorry OP

The Wii U also has its share of shooters. ZombiU, Splinter Cell, and Black Ops to name off the top of my head.

This is why I game purely on the Phantom. Phantom Entertainment won e3 if you ask me by showing nothing at all, now I don't need to make any choices at all.

yeah I was somewhat interested in getting a Wii U at some point, especially for X though Deus Ex interested me (though now its no longer exclusive) and for the lego undercover. Original price seemed too expensive for me though.

Now the PS4 price is announced at $399, the official price of Wii U now seems not just overpriced but waaay overpriced when this PS4 launches. At only $50 less that just seems crazy, given its the premium set is the one I would want.

Personally, my target is $200 at this point though that could change if Nintendo could get other JRPG exclusives like X. Seems unlikely at this point though.
