I see NeoGAF has started with skins/backgrounds ads

This met me when I logged in today:

I've nothing against it, I was just a bit surprised since I've really only seen generic ads through Google Ads/Adsense before, and not something as specific as a Guild Wars 2 thing. Perhaps I'm late to this, but I cannot remember seeing it before.

Also, with the recent changes to Flash/NPAPI and such, could we see NeoGAF moving from Flash to perhaps HTML5 for at least more specific ads as the Guild Wars one? Less Flash the better I think.

Been seeing them for a while and I'm 100% ok with it. Looks great, unobtrusive, and clearly targeted to gamers. I wouldn't even mind sponsored topics.

At least it stays still when you scroll, I can't stand the ads that move and slow the whole page down.

Those have been going on for awhile now. As long as they don't appear on the actual topic boards or break up threads with ads placed in between posts I don't mind

Please don't. There's no reason for them. The whole forum is full of advertisements for games under the guise of threads. We don't need ones popping up that are actually paid for by the devs. We already get threads like this occasionally and no one posts in them unless they like the game, in which case there's usually already an OT for it.

Just stick to the full page ads on the index and the header and footer ads on each page. If you need to, put an ad after the OP for people who are logged out like some other forums do.

Also, the ad I'm getting is superior to yours. It's for the Alienware Alpha. A product I'm actually interested in unlike the ad in the OP.
