I thought Wonder Woman was supposed to be "the good DCU movie"

I thought it was by far the best of the mainstream DC movies (the Marvel like ones not things like Joker).
It made good use of the time period, and the fish out of water stuff worked well because Steve was so war weary that it worked on an emotional level more than a "it's for washing your backside, right?" type thing.
The action scenes seemed fine to me - they at least made visual sense for the most part.
Also the role helped mask Gadots less than impressive acting, kinda like the Terminator role was a perfect fit for Arnie.

It wasn't terrible so by DCU standards that's already pretty decent.
It's a serviceable superhero movie that kept me entertained for a couple of hours. I'd put it on the same tier as Man of Steel and Aquaman.

BVS, Justice League, WW88 and Suicide Squad were all actively terrible though, so it's not like the bar is very high.

And I guess Shazam was in some "meh" tier in between

But have you seen Missouri women? Never assume you’ve reached bottom until you’ve driven through Missouri
You may be on to something. I drove by it and kept on driving to the next state.

I don't remember anything before Captain Kirk showed up, but I enjoyed the rest. The villains were highly amusing. I really like this WW1 atmosphere.

The first WW movie was definitely bad, still don't understand what people see in that movie. Gadot can't act for shit, the plot was boring, Ares was the goofiest looking villain ever, WW's outfit is so dumb, and all the slow motion action looked hilariously bad.

DCEU ranked:

  1. Aquaman
  2. Shazam
  3. Wonder Woman
  4. Man of Steel
  5. BvS Ultimate
  6. WW84
  7. Birds of Prey
  8. Suicide Squad
  9. Justice League
I watched Shazam two days ago, and it shits from the top of Mount Everest on EVERY OTHER DC movie (and a lot of Marvel ones as well), imo.

* it's light hearted and has its heart at the right place
* nice and unique origin story
* family values being displayed in a great and endearing way
* that crippled boy is an amazing side kick. Plus the other family members are well portrayed and have their own character, each one of them.
* jokes that actually work and not cringy nerdish memberberry crap
* action scenes have weight and are well done (not too keen on stopping people or buses falling mid air, though. But well, that's superhero movie physics.)

This felt like a really nice and goofy fun 80ies movie in its approach to characterizing the hero.

Aquaman is barely low to mid tier Marvel good compared to this, imo.

Shazam and Joker are the only two really great movies with DC characters in it.

Wonder woman/aqua man are about the same for me, around captain marvel levels. Good is relative. If the rest of your films are really bad, when you put one out that matches the second worst MCU instalment, it's going to look good by comparison.

Just about all of these new dc movies have been kinda average. Man of steel seemed epic at times but their portrayal of superman was just wrong. Suicide Squad had a lot of fun moments but a suicide squad being escorted by soldiers is just weird. Should have been more like a fast and the furious movies but with lots more deaths. Aquaman's world honestly felt kinda like black panther's where you show a lot of stuff but it is only surface level. Wonder woman honestly just felt like a solid movie not great just solid. Doesn't really do anything that blows me away. Been inching my way slowly to finish this new wonder woman movie but it is so boring.
Like why was she struggling so much to take down those guys in the beginning of the movie. Just one hour left to go . Like is she only Captain America level strong in this movie?

edit: Finally finished the ww1984 and that was some weird super hero movie.

I watched Man of Steel again recently, and boy was I wrong in disliking that movie.

The story was serviceable, it bridges man to superman transition well, but the action scenes. Goddamn, I had forgotten how well they were made with that music score.

MoSteel was more than nice to me.

Watch the first Captain America movie directly after Wonder Woman.

A bit too Captain America, but I think that's the only reason it was ok
WW84 on the other hand is laughable
DC movie's died with The Dark Knight Rises
Joker was good though

It certainly is highly overrated and I never got the hype myself. The movie is ok, not really bad but nothing outstanding either. And WW84 is just bad and as Patty Jenkins co-wrote that one too, I don't have much hope for WW3 or Rogue Squadron. Monster was excellent but I'm starting to feel like she's a "One-Hit-Wonder".

It's alright. I preferred it to most of the superhero movies that have come out. Most of them honestly just don't appeal to me, I never got the Avengers hype. Not going to bother with 84 judging by the reviews.

The first movie was good. Marvel good. I watched it twice.

The second movie is so bad. I can’t believe how they wasted money on this. It looks very expensive, but it’s trash.

So I watched this last night for full this time and actually had a better reception to it even during the controversial scenes and it wasn’t that bad at all...

Wonder Woman 1984 is awful though...
