Why? It looks bad and that's a fact.
The animations, the enemies, the level design, the art direction... it all just looks bland and soulless.
Saying that Godfall looks incredible its the equivalent of saying "Crackdown 3 looks hot" in the months leading up to it's launch.
No one said it looks "incredible". I said it looks polished (obviously considering it will be a launch game) and fun. Don't try to put words in other people's mouths in order to validate your opinion.
You know this game is a multiplatform game and also coming to Xbox, don't you? So maybe people just don't like what they saw.
Why would you need to be an Xbox fanboy if you dislike this game?
The game so far is PS5 and Epic store exclusive. There's nothing that indicates that it will come to XsX or Steam. Maybe in a year or two but who knows. These are both reasons for some people to unbury their war hatchets.
I'm not saying that everyone should like it,hell even i (as i said before) i was indiffirent to the game before yesterday's presentation.
But on the other hand i also see a lot of unjustified hatred and a lot of the criticisms are just generalizations ("looks more boring than sukishima","combat looks floaty","looks gamey and forgettable" etc)
Honestly the weakest defence, if all you've got to counter genuine criticism is "they must be fanboys of Xbox" then you have the critical thinking skills of a brick and I feel sorry for you. Hyperbole? Sure, but it would be nice to come here every once in a while and have genuine conversations and not just the same boring warring.
Look at my above post regarding "genuine criticism".
On the topic of the game itself, I echo the sentiment of others that I was actually more interested prior to seeing this. It is, for me personally, anti-Halo:Inf right now, in that I liked what I saw of the Halo gameplay but though it looked graphically rough; this is the complete opposite. Nice graphics, but the combat looked a bit jank and shallow as fuck. How anyone can look at that boss (or miniboss?) at the end and think that looks like fun gameplay is beyond me. And they claim they took inspiration from MHW? Please.
What was so wrong with that boss to the extend that it made you think "it's jank and shallow as fuck"? I'm not saying it's going to win any awards but you seem quite hyperbolic.
Fuck all weight to the hits, the same three or four basic-ass combos spammed for the whole demonstration, half the time it's a mob of three or four enemies literally standing around waiting to get hit next.
The poor AI is the only valid crticism i can agree with but lets not forget the game is still in development and these may be early mobs. Also they had so much to show i really doubt these were all the combos eacj weapon class had. Seems unfair to me to make criticisms of things we wish they had shown rather than the things they actually showed.
Also the weight of the hit animations feels fine to me depending on what weapon it's being used. This is one of the most common complains i hear a lot of people throwing it around and 9 out of 10 they are completely wrong. It reminds me when some people were saying the same crap for games like Nioh and Code Vein when both games actually had more than enough weight to their hit animations (obviously depending on what weapon was being used).
The concept of the game sounds great, melee-focused Destiny? Sign me up, but unless they can polish the animations and show a bit more depth to the combat I'm out.
Animations are fine to me the only thing they need to improve (based on what they have shown so far) is the AI IMO.
