If PSVR2 launched with HL: Alyx, RE8 and Astro Bot 2, would it be enough to convince you to get one on day 1?

I’ll buy one anyway, but those 3 titles are all the more sweeter.
We need Bioshock VR, Deadspace VR, SotC VR, The Last Guardian VR and Alien Isolation VR too. Please 🤞

As of now not, because there isn't a VR device for consoles with enough horsepower and proper controls. But with PSVR2 in the market, Valve will want to port it to get a profit for the investment they did for their game, and Sony will want some ports of the main PC VR games that weren't possible on PSVR1. So it's higly possible that Alyx will end being released on PSVR2.

PS4 to PS5 BC is granted, and I assume PSVR2 will be BC with PSVR1 to avoid having to start from scratch and to have a good catalog.

I assume they'll manage it to adapt the headtracking system on a OS level (even if internally works differently, at the end the game just gets a head position and rotation), and same goes for the DS4 controls (not sure but I'd bet that these games were playable with DS4, so controls could be adapted to DualSense). Hell, I even think they can translate the dildo controls to the new controller unless it lacks buttons.
But PSVR goes against Valves VR philosophy: It's a closed system with no hardware choice. Then you also leave behind the creative side of the game since consoles don't have mods by the nature of being a closed system.

I'm not saying it can't happen, but I wouldn't count on it.

Valve philosophy is to make money, the other is just PR stuff. They said the same in the past about consoles but after that they released Orange Box and so on.

Cancun, Mexico.
To those who answered no: What other games besides those mentioned in the OT would it take for you to get PSVR2?

If valve's philosophy was to make money we would be playing half life 10 at this point. They are swimming in money from the community market and 30% steam cut.

If they port it is because they want to not because they need money

Half Life Alyx by itself would be MORE than enough to convince me.

However without Half life and just Astro Bot 2 and RE8 instead well then I'd probably hold off and it wouldn't be a day 1.

Ill probably buy it day one.. PSVR is a blast, Hope they can fix it's shortcomings and also let you side load your own VR video stuff, with the power of PS5, I can only imagine how awesome the games will look in the headset next.

To me games weren't the problem with PSVR. More than enough content. Just hoping it's made easy to jump in and out of. Even better if they have some type of wireless attachment or option. Gladly pay for no wires.

Alyx is a PC exclusive game, it wont come to any console, let alone sony's. But why arent you playing the game on the cheaper quest 2, if its a game that would make you play more money for a worse product which sony's will be

Doesn't Oculus still require you to log in with a Facebook account? Unless they've changed that, the whole product is dead to me on principle.

Edit - secondly, it's way more money to get Alyx running on a Quest 2, since you'll need a powerful PC machine in addition to the headset. I have a PS5, and I'm not going to invest in a gaming PC right now (I do game a great deal on my Mac, but it's a machine I bought for work and I play retro & lower end games; I'll never spend a couple grand on a purely fun machine--which is all a windows PC could ever be for me).

You had me at astrobot. The others are just a bonus. Seriously, the first game and the PS5 pack in were that good.

The Quest 2 is wireless if you want a high-end experience as far as i know. Doesn't it need to be wired into a cpu for such an experience, if so, people should calling it wireless in comparison to what we hope the PSVR2 experience provides.

Valve makes way more money with Steam that with making games. So Valve decides to focus on their store instead of in making games.
But if Sony offers them free money that if desired doesn't require extra work for them because someone else handles the port, they would likely accept.

Now that i'm thinking about it, the primary way of playing will be advertised as wired but I dont see why it cant have an additional wireless functionality. The PS5 supports Wifi 6 so this would be a perfect scenario for this. Obviously youre going to have a little bit more input lag than playing wired so playing wireless shouldnt be fully advertised, but I dont see why they cant have this as an option. Playing wired would still be the "preferred" way of playing and wireless somewhat optional at your own risk the same way the Quest 2 does with AirLink

and what high end experiences would be that? PS2-looking games with raytracing, 4K textures and more light, particle FX?

psvr has been in a hiatus for about 2 years now - and you can tell that offer of higher grade gaming content diminished because of that.

Yes, but only if the hardware is superior to the quest 2. (Resolution, ipd, oled would be nice.....) And it can't be more than $399 u.s.

Oh and i hope the next psvr includes a mechanical adjustable ipd. Software ipd just doesnt work, for me i can use the psvr fine, but for whatever reason i bought a rift s in late 2019 and i was constantly getting bad heads , its as if the picture was slightly off, and so ended up giving away my rift-s, and now wont buy any oculus device especially with it being tied into facebook

It’s not necessarily the games that will be the biggest selling point to me as I know they’ll come, it’s the tech. I hardly used the original as it was such a farce and looked horrendous in terms of wires etc. Biggest initial selling point for me will be the setup and impact of the setup.

As much as I liked the PSVR rev 2, I've put so little hours on it apart from Astros and blood and blood and truth there isn't much worth playing.

this is the kind of game I want on psvr2:

and VI for sure. Too bad Microsoft bought them, but that didn't stop them from releasing Doom 3 for psvr just a month or so ago...

I'm yet to be sold on VR and can't think of any game that could change my mind.

VR in general, nope. Not until VR makers can:

1. Make it for $100

2. Make it super small and wireless so I dont have a brick plunked on my head

3. Full budget games, not $20 demos

$100? For a 4k display with two lenses and a battery and two gamepads?

Quest 2 is already an amazing deal for 300$ with a standalone processor and internal memory

Nah buying a VR headset that only works on one console is a waste of money. better off investing in a PC setup.
With Jimmy Boy at the reins, I'm pretty sure this thing is going to connect to SteamVR. If it doesn't I'd be very surprised. After all, all it needs is one USB-C port to connect to. And if it does, this thing will sell really well. I already have a VR compatible laptop and a PS5 so I'm ready and waiting for this to be a reality!

My guess is it's coming wired stock and will have an adaptor that plugs into it to go wireless if that's what you're after. The reason being is having a more mass-market price available at launch. A wireless receiver and extra battery pack inside will just add cost that they can negate in a base model.
