If the internet suddenly shut down tomorrow...

I would feel bummed out, because I've had some great conversations and read some riveting stuff from GAFers this year. It is encouraging to see vigorous discourse across the website. People can voice their opinions but attacks against other users are moderated accordingly.

I think the end result is a place where we can passionately disagree in one thread but find common ground in another, as long as we're not attacking one another. Things aren't taken too seriously. People are allowed to make their case and clarify what they meant.

People are allowed to apologize without being crucified.

This is a semi-veiled "thanks" thread, I guess. Thanks for working hard to make a good community where people can voice their shitty opinion and argue in its favor without being banned for wrongthink. Upon reflection, we must admit to ourselves how rare a thing that is nowadays.

The financial disasters which would occur in mere seconds would be incredible to watch (if there was a way to watch without the internet).

I've also gained a lot from the internet. This site has changed my mind more than once.

Really the thing I'd miss most would be my video games I play with my friends and can party chat with in game. The internet is/can be a great tool, but man I won't lie that the idea of alot of this mess (not here, just in general) and social media going away maybe the human race can get back to actually getting along on a personal level and not hide behind a keyboard.

The world would be better off. My own concentration would increase by a factor of 200x (until I find something else to waste all my time on)

Well, I'd be glad I still hadn't got rid of all my old porn dvds, vhs tapes and magazines because hooooo boy would they gain value fast! People would have to get into bush and perm though if they'd be able to enjoy most of what I got though.

Sometimes I think about pulling the plug so I can develop the ability for deeper contemplation. The information overload and choice paralysis that comes with having access to an unlimited number of resources is a hard thing to deal with – it just makes clear thinking much more difficult.
I've got so many books, and I can't even commit to one long enough to see it to the end, because the web and its myriad of distractions always gets in the way.

If the internet shut down tomorrow I'd celebrate the anniversary of that event every year.
Pretty much this. I also wouldn't be able to waste all the money I'm going to spend on video games this week.

You aren't the only one. So many books still left to read and I waste my time on the internet instead.

Isn’t it amazing how reliant we are on the internet for things?

I wouldn't suffer much. I'd playing any games which wouldn't require internet. I'd miss GAF but it would be a glee watching this SJW thing fading away because social media would no longer be active. Basically if you wanted to meet some new people you should leave your home and meet people in real life and discuss something real good with them or trying to talk some shit and hoping to not get punched in return just because you decided to go full retarded.

There would be no social justice warriors and people would actually have to sit and Hear other people’s views

Would also help in introducing basic social skills like walking past someone and saying hello instead of checking Facebook while you walk

The internets are a window to the fucken world son. Fucken endless library of everything boy. See what's happening in Laos with a single click. Check out the pyramids through some dude's gopro. Go underwater in the fucken Pacific ocean see some crazy shit. Just spread them tabs apart. Take a peak.

I BLESSED THE RAINS DOWN IN AFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFRICAA

Imagine all of the regret people will have about streaming their porn instead of downloading it. And I will be sitting here laughing at those pornless people, HAHAHAHAHAHA, while my terabytes & terabytes of porn sits safely on external HDDs.

Love this new era (no pun intended) of the forum! Agreeing or disagreeing, this community rocks.

I'd be in the gym 24/7. Actually i wouldn't, their entire membership system would be broken, couldn't tap in. Also no more money, global banking systems would be dead, your money gone.

Mad Max time.

so it's not nice
If the internet shut down tomorrow, I would be unfazed. Not because I have no deep connections with people online (GAF alone makes for a good lot of connections I have to the net, including the Discord) but because knowing that the internet can breed such good moments I would have resolve that it is not only a bad place. I can pretty much continue my life knowing that some of the best lads I know are people I've never seen before, and that would be pretty satisfying enough for me to just pack up my router and move on. It's how I feel about death -- unless it came from something horrible like [terminal] cancer or some debilitating form of malaise, I'm simply happy someone else got to live a thorough and long life, as not many in the world do.

With that said, I would maybe start to feel bad for those who rely on the fap-tastic material in the butt and tits threads...

I'd have to increase my interaction with real people.... what a horrible thought. I have enough of that as it is.
Thankfully the chance of the internet shutting down is virtually zero.
