I just finished watching the film and I can't stop smiling. This was like the perfect Video Game film. FPS a genre that I adore and this movie is just brilliant as it felt like a Video Game.

If you have the chance to see it, go and see it!

More_Badass knows how to explain it
It's great. A fun nonstop thrill ride of wild over-the-top action, with great practical stunts and choreography, and probably will end up being the hardest R-rated action movie of 2016 in terms of gory chaos. It's even more of a videogame movie than Edge of Tomorrow was.

I've actually heard decent things about this flick, which is honestly surprising.

I just hope there is some gratuitous FPS sex.

Almost talked my wife into going to see it this past weekend.
Then she read some article comparing it to FPS games and it was a no go.
(My wife is not a gamer).
I really want to see it myself. I am a very big fan of both mediums.

If the movie starts with

You are standing in an open field west of a white house, with a boarded front door. There is a small mailbox here.

I'll go see it.

I'm gonna be honest bro it looks really bad.

It reminds me of that movie Gamer.

You know how reviews tout movies like The Raid or Mad Max as non-stop action? Well, Hardcore Henry laughs at those claims. This is a 90 minute adrenaline rush of chaos, with a few moments of calm in-between and a ridiculous story to tie it all together.

The action was over-the-top violent and crazy, the kind of stuff that fans of Crank and Shoot-Em-Up would probably love, and the first-person perspective really ups the intensity of the fights, chases, and shootouts. And it is gory, like between Dredd and a Saw movie level of violence. The way these action sequences are shot, plus the practical nature of the stunts, I'd love to see the behind-the-scenes. It's all very impressive

The movie is very videogame-y, even more so than Edge of Tomorrow. Like there are times when the hero literally gets markers on a map to go to, with "objectives" there. But really it's all so they can just go from one action scene to the next. It's silly, cyberpunk-y, and only ever gives you a few minutes to catch your breath

I didn't get any motion sickness or a headache, but my eyes did feel kind of exhausted by the end.
This movie was fantastic! On par with The Raid or Kingsman or Fury Road in how fucking cool the action was.

I'd line up for a sequel in an instant. So fun, so inventive.
Just got out of the theater AND HOLY SHIT. I haven't enjoyed an action movie this much since Shoot 'em Up. It's definitely up there with the greats of movie going experiences, IMO. There was a surprising amount of plot as well. Jimmy is without a doubt one of my favorite fictional characters ever.

One of the things that really didn't come across in the trailers is the Sam Raimi/Evil dead quality to the violence. It's just brilliant and the pacing is dead perfect. It's a wonderful flick. I have to encourage anyone who loves the likes of Evil Dead and Shoot 'me Up to absolutely give this a shot. It's magical.
Enjoyed the hell out of this. Me and my brother were the only two people in the screening and we had a riot.

There's very little plot or characterisation, just 90 minutes of over-the-top violence and crazy stuntwork that should please most action buffs. It's "Crank" on crank.
Saw it last week. It was really fun. I hope you all will dig it, it's a hell of a ride.
just got back, fucking crazy movie. Go see it!
This movie is basically Crank 3: FPS Edition. Loved it.
She decided not to go. I relayed what the others said, and she watched the trailer; blood and guts isn't really her thing so she stayed home. I gave her the option to come, but she made the call not to. Which was probably a good call, as it would have been the bloodiest film she's seen.

I had a blast, though. Some of the close up violence was too much for me, but it was usually well telegraphed (particularly knife work), so I looked away a few times.

The movie knew exactly what it was an leaned the fuck into it. It was basically a FPS in film form. Quick time event chases, a sniper mission, a stealth mission, an apartment complex shoot out, mini-bosses, dual wielding, an actual boss level, complete with
ability upgrades and freaking platforming to reach the boss in order to hit the weak spot
.

Copely was amazing in this, hilarious and empathetic character. The action was almost non-stop and handled well, an while the story was thin, it was exactly enough to support the film they were making and did its job without bogging anything down.

My only real critiques are, sometimes the edits were jarring. From first person, long takes or cleverly hidden edits are the way to go, but they often skipped around in the middle of an action scene like it was a shot with a regular camera. It made some of the scenes harder to follow as it felt like we were teleporting around rather than watching things unfold. That really came to a head in the final sequence with so much going on, and such heavy editing, it was nearly impossible to follow for large stretches.

Otherwise, yeah. Damn fun movie.

I personally loved it, all the characters were pretty decently thought out, and had a specific purpose to drive the plot forward just enough to keep feeding you mindless action (Which is kind of what the whole movie is about). And some of the deaths were too outrageous not to laugh, hah.

Im honestly curious about the concept, i wanna see if it can hold an entire movie, movie could be bad but i wanna know if it is bad because the gimmick or despite it.

Yeah I'm really keen to see it for some dumb schlocky fun with some of my friends. Problem is it doesn't have a release date for Australia yet :/

Despite it I think. A cynic would say the first person aspect is a gimmick, which isn't wrong. But is a gimmick such a bad thing for a movie to have? Still though, the movie was average at best.

I had to leave the theater a couple times to take a breather and let my head settle due to the intense shaky-cam action. It was really messing with my motion sickness, and I even popped a Dramamine an hour before it started. I'm sure that helped a little bit.

However, what I saw I enjoyed immensely. I do suggest not sitting close to the screen though.

I'll give it another shot when it comes out on Blu-Ray.

It was way funnier than I was expecting. Sharlto Copley was great in this.

First person view took a few minutes to get used to, but once in - it was pretty cool.

My first thought seeing the trailer was that it looked like it should have been a video game. From appearances it looks like just a first person violence- and power-fantasy. Based on the praise, I'm guessing I'm not wrong. :P

So I mean. If you're the kind of person who really gets into God of War, maybe...

I'll check it out if it comes to Netflix to see how well the first person gimmick stretches into the film medium. Props to them for trying it, even if the movie itself seems really schlocky.

I wish I could find a lower res version and add QTE button prompts

Yet it looks so stupid.
Because videogames are often such high watermarks for adroit storytelling.

I haven't seen it yet, but I'm sure it'll hold my attention in a "wow, how did they even shoot these scenes?" kind of way, if nothing else. I'm sure the story's nothing to write home about, but from a logistics and choreography standpoint there's some mind-blowing stuff on display.

It looked to me like it could be some stupid fun. Sadly I don't have money to go see it right now; maybe I'll rent the bluray release.

I saw it last night and felt like I had already seen all the good parts in the trailer. It wasn't bad, it wasn't good, it just kinda was.

Shoot 'Em Up is still my favorite "Video Game: The Action Movie".

I remember Constantine has like a second of what could be a Third Person top down videogame sequence.

I thought it was great.

I wonder how they did this movie though, cant be some dude with a Go pro cant it?

It's a Go Pro mounted to a head mount on the stuntmen.

The Rotten Tomatoes reviews had me down, then i realized most of the splats were from old folks.

Definitely want to check this movie out. Looks ridiculously fun

It's more like "If you love FPS games with gratuitously over-the-top QTEs and bullet time sequences".

The guy looks like a ghetto version of Neo who has no idea wtf is going on while the whole Matrix is glitching.

Y'know, the stuff I've just written actually makes me want to see this movie even more.

The best thing about the movie for me was the soundtrack, and the weakest part was the villain.

That villain was so fucking weird. Easily one of the weirdest villains in any movie I've ever seen, and not in a good way. He was just weird, he wasn't particularly menacing.

Sorry psychic albino dude, you sucked. Thankfully, Sharlto Copley's performance is as good as the antagonist's is bad.

To be honest I was interested until it was compared to Dredd and Saw when it comes to gore. Really can't stand gore like that. Still, good to know that before I made the mistake of seeing it. Sounds like a good movie, just not for me.
