Next year's E3 should be pretty solid then.

New Fable from Playground
Obsidian's new big IP(s) / Pillars 3
Maybe a new big InXile rpg

Forwards compatibility with controllers along with the obvious BC/game pass is also solid.

And MS, buy Crate, just do it.

Outside of Wasteland 3, X019 had nothing for me personally. In general, a good 7.0/10 show but for me, probably a generous 5.0/10. Simply nothing there for me.

On the positive side which I was expecting to be the case anyway, E3 2020 should showcase InXile's next gen title, Ninja Theory's next gen single player game by the Hellblade team and Playground's next gen action RPG. Also expecting Gears Tactics to be at E3 2020 and be a cross gen launch title for XBOX 4/Xbox One. Along with Halo Infinite, Microsoft's E3 2020 is already looking way better on paper so barring a massive fuck up, they should give me a few games im interested in.

Spencer’s given great interviews for four years or so, while the division has floundered. I don’t want to hear any more, it’s time to show me the goods. The time for talk has passed.
Spencer will forever keep on talking. That's part of his job.

Announce the next-gen games before the console? That seems like an odd decision. Sony's not doing that.
He's been talking for years. And years have gone by without Xbox improving their exclusive game problem. So, yeah, they need to prove they improved their games, not just their PR spokesman.

If you want to focus on Japanese content, then give us a Blue Dragon Remaster and sequel and Lost odyssey remaster and sequel. Do this and I'll know you're serious.

But, it won't happen. Only very briefly was the xbox fanbase interested in TB tactical games.

Microsoft just announced a crap-ton of Exclusive games for this generation. While not all of them are good, they're still games. But lets be clear, Spencer has only been in his Executive role for 2 years and has been acquiring studios during that time with his newly acquired budget in that role. It typically takes 3-5 years to develop a AAA game from the ground up. So, in the end, what were you expecting? Why put all your cards on the table at the end of a generation? He could have forced those studios to make the games ASAP which would have ended badly. Instead he's allowing them time to perfect their games, which is simply good management.

Let's not forget GamePass Xbox & PC, Cross-Play, Cross-Buy, PC + Xbox Exclusives, and xCloud were all created in this time frame and has set up the foundation for the future.

But they said those games will work on all consoles in the Xbox family, even the S (according to the Booty), so it's not really announcing "next-gen" games, right?

For the record, I don't mind the wait. They will announce them when they are ready to.

So, in the end, what were you expecting?
There is nothing, it's Xbox.

To be honest though I can't help but think that it drives some people mental to have access to Xbox info on a regular basis (which has been the case since early 360) yet their console of choice is effectively drip fed information sometimes going months before hearing anything new to look forward to

So he's added even more Xbox monthly subscription fees/services and has moved Xbox One's best "console exclusives" to also be on Switch, making them no longer even that?

2020 could be the year of Microsoft...

The 2020's could be the decade of Xbox!

You might not like what they're doing, but it's working, so.

"Working" in what context exactly? Care to elaborate?
I think he's referring to Phil's comment the other day that was basically "we still refuse to release actual numbers but we are doing 'extremely well' - just trust me".

Either that or he is referring to my Switch comment and means Microsoft is making more money selling their games on PC and other consoles. That doesn't exactly instill confidence for me to buy the next box.

"Wait till E3" has been something I've heard from MS and its fans every year since 2015. I can't gin up a lot of enthusiasm at this point.

I like Spencer but in fairness, he's getting ready to enter only his third year as the lead executive in charge for Xbox. Since 2018, I have been saying that it's all about next gen for the Xbox brand. E3 2020 will make or break the brand in terms of it bouncing back to Xbox 360 levels or just the same as this gen.

One thing Spencer should do no matter what is to stop talking and doing interviews. He repeats the same stuff every interview which is why I stopped watching his interviews as it's just a waste of my time. Outside of Jim Ryan recently, you never hear anything from Sony execs and Nintendo execs talking is even less. Then, you look at who's dominating this generation and well, it's the two companies that are letting their games doing the talking for them.

Most people aren't worried at all, whereas with MS it's been all talk, no substance since mid last-gen.

Phil Spencer was supposed to be the savior, but he hasn't done anything worthwhile besides PR and buying a handfull of studios which have to prove themselves under MS' banner over the course of multiple games.

Do you think games magically materialize at the snap of a finger? As an xbox user I'm not fully satisfied with their output, but it's unfair to say that he hasn't done anything worthwhile. Buying studios in huge and it shows they are committed to making games.

Ofcourse it takes time, but everything is mostly PR.
They have something to proof, as a consumer everyone has every right to be sceptic at this point given MS' trackrecord.

They have a long way to go and probably won't make up next-gen.
Next-gen will be make-it-or-break it for xbox.

I don't even doubt Spencer personally, I'm just going to assume that his hands are tied and he is forced to say stuff to keep people happy.

If you think that Xbox is in the same place as it was when the original xbone launched then you're being willfully obtuse

Play Anywhere
GamePass
Backwards compatibility (and forwards on future controllers)
xCloud
Scorpio (and a return to powerful hardware in general looking at Series X)
All the acquisitions

He’s done a great job turning around what was a very shitty product. Takes time, not something you can do overnight. Not sure where PR comes into play here, these are all real things with real results.

All those things except xCloud are reactionary and I wouldn't credit that to Spencer to the point of him saving Xbox. It was forced catching up.

By suggesting that Spencer is purely a PR mouthpiece.

The XSX is is baby, if Xbox flops this Gen its entirely on him
But XSX isn't out yet.
Also, what does that have to do with your random comment about how I supposedly think Xbox is in the same position as with the launch of OG Xbox?

If Spencer said anything new in this interview, let us know. I can't be bothered to listen. He gives a lot of interviews where he says pretty much the same thing.

He was brought in to replace someone who was shitcanned for tanking the product. Of course what he’s done has been reactionary. Hell, everything most companies do is reactionary. No one is ahead of the curve 100% of the time.

Doesn’t change the fact that they’re great initiatives that have strengthened the brand compared to where it was. And have nothing to do with PR fluff.

Don Mattrick is used as a scapegoat for Xbox as a whole. The truth is he still has had far more success leading Xbox during the 360 days (following the original Xbox which sold almost nothing), than Phil Spencer ever has.

Funny, how Xbox fans never complained about Don Mattrick until after he left and Spencer came on.

Spencer is better at speaking. That's it. The Xbox library hasn't gotten better since he took over. It has actually continued to go downhill. The guy is a Snake Oil salesman.

MS has been reactionary. I wonder how much say Spencer actually has.
Like how he said Lockhart was dead and suddenly it seems to be alive after all.

I think he sold Nadella a bill of goods, probably got Phil to retirement age without getting canned. Time will tell if this all works out on the services front, I have my doubts.

Anything Phil speaks about other than games I kind just roll my eyes about.

Plastic: No thank you
Services: Most probably no thank you
Middleman: No thank you
Games: Maybe if they release them on my platform of choice and are step up from where they have been quality and interesting wise.
