Resident Evil uses a huge capacity cartridge to store all the PSX media, including all the FMVs in good quality. It plays it safe for an M rated game, though, so green blood until you change it.
8.0 Graphics
The game looks really good on the DS, and in some places it looks even better than the PlayStation game. Animation is still robotic and stiff, but that adds to the B-movie cheese.
8.0 Sound
Love it or hate it, the horrendous voice acting is back in full force on the DS. But the audio quality of that and the moody music and sound effects is stunningly good.
6.5 Gameplay
Even if it's a fun and fulfilling classic, the camera system still clunks up the action something fierce, something that's not as forgivable this time around.
6.5 Lasting Appeal
The game can still be completed in a few hours if you know your stuff, but at least it's extended with unlockables for the multiplayer, and there's a new mode after the main one's over.

8.0 PresentationSo, for the most part, Resident Evil: Deadly Silence is a great conversion of Resident Evil that tweaks a bit here and tightens a bit there. What was good about the PlayStation version is still good here on a smaller scale, and the added elements do a decent job enhancing the experience and shaking things up for those who've experienced the game a hundred times before. But, honestly, it's hard to ignore all the little quirks in gameplay and presentation that were a bit easier to disregard in the earlier days of 3D adventuring, so if we look at it as a new title instead of a revival, well, it's not a whole lot better than a good but flawed game design.
