IGN's Top 25 PS4 Games

Hard to say, because I would never approach a list like they do since I game on more than a PS4 so that list in itself doesn't make any sense to me, because either I judge PS4 exclusives or I judge all games that I played no matter the device, but rating games that are available on PS4, no matter if they are exclusive or not, is something I personally wouldn't have thought about doing.
Also I haven't played all of those games or I played some on different platforms like Metal Gear Solid V, Control, Monster Hunter World, Resident Evil 2, GTA V.

If I had to rank the games they listed it would probably go :

1) The Last of Us Part II (GOTY, GOAT)

2) God of War
3) Bloodborne
3a) Witcher 3
4) Uncharted 4 (TLL doesn't really count. It is a smaller game and more of the same kinda. A big DLC rather)
5) Resident Evil 2 Remake
6) Final Fantasy VII Remake
7) GTA V
8) Red Dead Redemption 2
9) Metal Gear Solid V
10) Control
11) Horizon Zero Dawn

Rest I haven't played/finished.

26) Overwatch

has been asked to post in 'Grounded' mode.
GOW where it is supposed to be, GOTG...crushes all including RDR2, Witcher and GTA which all have terrible gameplay compared to GOW.

RDR2 is too high, Witcher is too high, GTA is too high.

Spider-man and Ghost of Tsushima should be higher than Horizon and Uncharted Lost Legacy....

TLOU2 should be near the bottom of the list and TLOU1 should be near the top.

FFVIIR should be higher too.

Overwatch is a load of shit and has no business being on any 'top list'

Death Stranding should be top 10.
Spider-man and Ghost of Tsushima should be before Horizon Zero Dawn I agree and Death Stranding too IMO

Well yeah, but the whole point of a discussion forum is to discuss it. I don't think anyone's upset, we just think it's a trash list.
Lists generate such terrible discussion though.

I think this should be higher, why did they put this so high ??

It's like, of course everybody is gonna have different rankings and such.....and water is wet.

Pretty bad list, no Nioh/2, no Days Gone, no Death Stranding, and as noted the absence of TLOU1 is a glaring omission.

What's worse whole genres are sidelined; what "interactive movie" type of game are better than Until Dawn or Detroit? What shmups are better than Nex Machina or Resogun? Amongst the smaller, arty titles I'd place Rime and Last Day of June over Edith Finch.

A walking sim? GTA V? Fuck naw. Multiple remakes in there too. This gen has been terrible.
word, the best games this gen have either been indie, remakes or remasters. Very few original games were memorable. The games were generally fun but I forgot them instantly and will most likely never play them again.

Some great games out cause of "quotas" lol

Anyway, PS4 with the best console lineup this gen and still delivering.

4 of the top 5 and 7 of the top 10 are PS4 exclusives. I thought 99% of the best games are multi-platform.

This list looks like it was created by a robot that just trawled Metacritic before spewing out one of the most soulless top X lists I've ever seen.

1.The Witcher needs to be lower on that list, it was good but extremely overrated IMO.
2.Final Fantasy 7 is at least top 5
3.GTAV? No thanks.

Put TLou2 at the top, move Automata way higher and replace that GTA with Tlou1 and this list gets decent.

God of War was sure fun and great, but TLou2 is a more important game.

Ghost > The Witcher 3 >>>>>> RDR2

No Sekiro is a bad joke. No Death Stranding is a travesty.

List is well dodgy. Do they even play games over there at IGN?

21. Resident Evil 4
20. Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Collection
19. Trials of Mana
18. Final Fantasy VII Remake
17. Dragon Quest XI

1. Castlevania Anniversary Collection

... seriously a lot of the games in the IGN list are meh or just okay to me, and Nier: Automata and FFVIIR are way too low for me in that list.

How is the Two Point Hospital port now? Is it stable? I've been waiting for a few patches to finally grab it.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.

I’ve been playing it last March and it was fine with me!

Crazy i think how much the PS4 didnt gave me personally the excitement i was having with my PS3. When i look at that list i understand why. My top games?(well the one i enjoyed playing for a while )

- Bloodborne
- Witcher 3
- Gran Turismo Sports
- CoD MWR
- Dark Souls 3 ( was a bit of a let down compare to everything before for me )
- The Pinball Arcade ( with all WMS tables before the license lost )
- Spelunky
- Fortnite ( when it started. When the map start changing with the meteor, left it )

Was disappointed by God of War, read some bad stuff about TLOU 2 and will wait its 20$ to give it a try, Borderlands 3 suck really hard imo compare to 2 , even sold it after 2 days. Only game im waiting to be at a good price i think i will enjoy is Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes, but these are...remakes.

So total, for exclusive new stuff, the PS4 really gave me good feeling with Bloodborne and Witcher 3. Its perhaps the reason im often looking at my PS4 collecting dust and wondering if i should just sell it ( but i know ill regret it for losing Bloodborne ) It felt a weaker generation for me compare to PS3.

Kingdom hearts 3 over FF VII remake? I’m a huge KH fan but sorry that game was trash in comparison. Also, uncharted lost legacy over 4? Any opinions on this one? I might get the game idk.

Gonna keep it simple and list my Top 5 PS4 games:

5. Ghost of Tsushima
4. Horizon Zero Dawn
3. FFVII: Remake
2. God of War
1. Bloodborne

If Witcher 3 was a PS4 exclusive, it'd be my #1.

Bad list for a bad gen.

Nah this was a pretty damn good gen if you ask me. Don't know what makes you think it was bad.

All the other generations that came before it. Too much focus-tested AAA, not enough breakthrough games or subgenres. Pound for pound, the density of classics is not here. Even indies lost their luster from last generation.

This was the first time in my life I ever felt apathy at the thought of turning on my console or continuing my latest save, and I felt that for a lot of games on these lists. I know some of that might be me getting older, but there's still a lot of new stuff on PC that sink their hooks in me, some of which were console titles that felt much more at home on PC.

If you are going to include GTA 5 then you may as include last of us remastered and put it in 2nd place.

Metal Gear 5 has no business in any Top 25 games list.

Spyro > Ratchet and Clank.

Ratchet and Clank was a decent tie in movie game, but that is just it.

I don't know about top 25, seems a bit much but a top 15 for me would be:

1. Bloodborne
2. Nier Automata
3. God of War
4. Sekiro
5. Horizon
6. Dark Souls 3
7. Uncharted Lost Legacy
8. Final Fantasy XV
9. Alien Isolation
10. Detroit Become Human
11. The Evil Within
12. The Last Guardian
13. Resident Evil VII
14. The Witcher 3
15. Uncharted 4

Haven't played The Last of Us 2, Final Fantasy VII or Ghost of Tsushima. I think they would probably score a place on the list somewhere.

Fair play to them. It's their list and their opinion after all. They obviously have a massively different taste to what I have. I'm the type of guy to have Shovel Knight in my top 5 and I don't even care. Haha.

I would say this gen has been better than last. You bring up too much focus-tested AAA, but I would say that was a bigger problem last gen. At least with this gen we saw a resurgence in genres that didn't get much love last gen, like Survival Horror, Jrpgs, and Srpgs.
