So...

The other day:

Me: "been playing FallOut 4 for a few days non-stop now, lets take a little break"
My other me: "Maybe play a little bit of... Destiny: The Taken King?"
Me: "Why not"

Today: "Is Monday already? How? Why? What the beep happened with my weekend?"

Crap, Destiny is my drug, I become hypnotized playing it, absorbed... my friends come visit and I cant even pay much attention... the gameplay is INSANELY good. Best shooter ever.

----------------------------------------

Now I am back into real life.

- Slain looks amazing. Will get.

- Akuatica lost my interest after the dev changed release dates so many times.

- Spacewhale looks fun.

Destiny is... a confusing game I think. I haven't played TTK but I've sunk a fair amount of time into it otherwise.

There's a lot of high quality content - Raids and PvP in particular show a lot of care - but there's so much filler. I always thought Strikes were a missed opportunity - should have been way more diverse and interesting.

Anyway - laptop is arriving today!

Yes Destiny can be confusing, a lot, newcomers and old players alike. I played a lot early last year (in bed after surgery, had all the time I needed), collected everything and I had to learn everything again this time, all my stuff is worthless, exotic weapons useless (already have a legendary auto rifle better than SUROS lol). Taken King is what the game should have been from the start. So many places to explore, different factions and races to fight, discover, wonder, raids, PvP, graphics are incredible, music too, the lore they created, etc... and played with friends, is... the best shooter ever. Half-Life, Quake, MW2, Black, none can compete with that. IMO of course.

The Valhalla Cats's game will be launched the next week, the 12th of November.

The Purring Quest - PC

I quote myself to say that Valhalla Cat's Purring Quest have been released the past week. I meet the team last month and are a really cool people, I hope the sales of the game goes well.

With each update, Somerville looks better and better. Props to his creator, Olsen, for his work.
Eastward looks amazing too, how cool and colorful pixelated backgrounds!

Eastward looks fucking amazing. Damn, i want that.

Hope it doesn't disappear like some games from TIGSource do. Still salty about that great looking one about aliens that had incredible animations. It was inspired by Another World i think? Can't remember the name.

Somerville? The developer has a background in animation (did work on Age of Ultron) so it has great animations, it's sci fi with aliens, and it's a cinematic platformer

Eastward looks great and being inspired by Earthbound is a good thing in my books. Hopefully the game isn't ... well, lets say "weird", like that Lisa game, though.

I keep meaning to check it out, then get distracted. The team behind Only If has a new game in development. They have been teasing screenshots with a demo coming within a month.

Interesting. I wrote a big piece about Only If after talking to one of the guys involved in making it. It had some... problems but there were some cool ideas in there. I'd be down to see what they do next.

Only If really seems to be a very polarizing game for the most part. I loved it. The dev even acknowledged that the game has some problems, and that's why he has kept it free. He wasn't comfortable charging for something he didn't feel was a completed vision, even though it is a fully playable experience as is. He released a very early alpha of another game on GameJolt, but work was stopped on it to go with this new one. The new game has thematic levels, which should be really interesting considering what I've read about some sections of Only If. Looking forward to this one a lot.

So my laptop came. Late. Has a dead pixel on the screen, won't update graphics drivers and the disc tray keeps opening on its own.

Super.

Damn, that sucks

That's why you need an iPad. So in the meantime, you can play Transistor and other indies

I have my phone! On there I have Fallout Shelter and... nothing else!

I'm gonna buy from Amazon today and go next day delivery I think - just an expensive hassle.

Need some good recommendations to pass the time? Sorcery series and 80 Days offer a hefty amount of gameplay and are pretty fantastic, play great on iPhone. The Sequence is a tricky puzzler, less complex than SpaceChem but with a similar concept

I'm a bit into Transistor. Just got Red up to level 5. Man the combat system is extremely clever. It's so fun to just mess around with different combinations of skills.

Also playing Super Meat Boy on Vita right now. I never played any other version before. I know they changed up the soundtrack and everyone is saying it straight up sucks, but I completely disagree. It's pretty rad so far imo. I understand people being attached to the old soundtrack, but saying it's shit is just hyperbole. Well, I mostly see that comment made in reaction to the forest level soundtrack, which I could see sounding pretty jank as a replacement. Many of the other tracks are good though.

Is it worth getting 80 Days on Steam now? Is that the "definitive" version or has that content been added to the iOS version?

Or is the joy of playing on phone better than doing so on PC?

I haven't even played SMB on Vita yet - I've got it downloaded though. I'm still sore that the Dustforce Vita port was ballsed up - I prefer it to SMB.

Firewatch is releasing on February 6th.

Yes. I am happy.

I just realized that Paint It Back is available on PC. It's an excellent Picross clone. The neat thing about the PC version is that it includes puzzles that are larger than 20 squares so it can actually get tough.

The UI is still clearly designed for touch input but its only a little annoying when looking for new puzzles to play. The puzzles themselves play perfectly.

Both versions have the same content. The PC version is nice because of 60+ FPS while the mobile versions are limited to 30.

I think I still prefer it on mobile, though. Visual novels work better when portable and the interface works better with touch.

Hey More_Badass, I'm the guy behind PaperBlade, and I just wanted to drop a big thank you for mentioning/including my project in this thread!

I took a LONG hiatus from PB during last year (from GAF too, that's why I have only just seen this topic), and started it over a couple months ago. There will be way more substantial stuff to share, in the upcoming months. Thanks again for checking it out! :)

Picked up Hard West, had been on the fence but the ACG review sold me on it. Will post some impressions later. Has anyone else here played it?
