We are always interested in getting to know more people with the same hobby. If you share our love for Indies, let us know! We talk about anything Indie, want to talk about the mess that DoubleFine is leaving behind? The depth(s) of Dwarf Fortress? Need recommendations? This is the right spot to ask! We'd also love to read more impressions :)

| 3.5 Quick Note about Formatting |
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you want to suggest a game that has recently released or that looks interesting, but hasnt released yet, please follow the following formatting structure so the post is picked up by Toma-Bot:
Released games:
TITLE - PRICE (PLAT)
LINK
DESCRIPTION TEXT
Not yet released games:
TITLE - PLAT
LINK
DESCRIPTION TEXT
Copy the appropriate content and add the proper information for the black writing. Please only include 1 link and 1 image. I tried making it a bit failsafe, so it should be able to deal with 2 links or images as well, but 1 is safer.
If the game is free, then put "Free" as the price, otherwise please use $ or € for the price. You can also include more than one game per post (like the Screenshot saturday posts), but please stick to the above format for every entry.
If someone posts a non-proper formatted post, I'd appreciate if you could repost the game with the same info in the proper format.
I noticed there are a few noteworthy, and relatively unknown, projects that deserve a shoutout here because I feel that they share a common interest with the people in this thread. I talked to the guy from Pixabyte and MetaVendetta and both are very enthusiastic about the things they love and figured you might appreciate the shoutout as well. If you enjoy anything here or want to give feedback, let these guys know via their websites or also here in this thread. If you appreciate something, let people know. A heads up can sometimes very valuable.
Speaking of which: Do we want to do a GOTY thread again?
Last year it took quite a long time to finish it, and I was writing quite a few of the entries. Unfortunately, I havent played many of the Indie contenders from the second half of the year, so I might not be able to help out in that regard.
Do we still want to do it, even if it takes longer?
Good work as usual Toma :D
As usual only possible with the help of the other Indie thread regulars. Thanks everyone and especially Baddy for the continuous efforts. <3
On a different note, anyone remember Independent by Design? They just shipped the books. Really looking forward to look into my copy!
I wouldn't mind taking over or assisting more if you need more help with it. Or we could just keep the voting among the regulars in the thread here.
I wouldn't mind taking over or assisting more if you need more help with it. Or we could just keep the voting among the regulars in the thread here.
The issue was less the voting and more the writing of the texts after the voting. If more people from here agree, I'd say we should still do it, but I wanted to ask what you guys think first. ;)
Turns out despite not remembering this at all, I must have backed Songbringer at some point because humble have just sent me a key. Awesome.
I'm so jealous. The dual wielding and other VR gameplay additions look like gamechangers. It's the first game I've seen where I feel VR truly evolves and adds to the game in a meaningful way
I think you meant :
Look good thought I'm still unhappy about the VR version being a separate release and oculus exclusive at first. The trailer also doesn't show any locomotion, I hope it's still there and not teleport only.
Y'all better grab Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun. I was interested in it before, but RPS's incredibly positive review ("awakens a genre that has been in deep hibernation for more than a decade...a game I think I prefer to both Commandos 2 and Desperados") and the awesome demo sold me on it. The devs were struggling with exposure and reviews, so I hope it finds its audience. Everyone tried the demo in the other thread loved it
Shadow Tactics is a hardcore tactical stealth game set in Japan around the Edo period. A new Shogun seizes power over Japan and enforces nationwide peace. In his battle against conspiracy and rebellion, he recruits five specialists with extraordinary skills for assassination, sabotage and espionage.
A hardcore commandos friend of mine recently told me about it, so I guess they informed their "main audience" somehow, but yeah, curious if they can keep up a lengthy and varied campaign.
Excited for Shadow Tactics. Hoping it's not too ridiculously tough and stressful
I hope its ridiculously tough and stressful, but I am sure they thought of useful difficulty modes. :D
Commandos-playing-middle-school me also would have hoped that, but soul-crushed-by-election-full-time-game-dev-with-2-kids-including-a-newborn me kinda just wants to chill
Totally understandable, I wasnt particularly set on the highest difficulties usually, but I recently played Pillars of Eternity on the highest difficulty and it was one of the most rewarding gaming experiences I had in the past few years. Really amazing when a game actually makes you think again.
I ruined that game for myself by picking the dumb bard-like class for my main character because I never learn D:
This is kind of how I feel now about any games steeped in post-apocalyptic dystopias, or games where you're playing a dictator. Reality is too dark and maybe that stuff is too close to home. Post-election I just have lost all interest in that kind of experience.
Yeah, opening up Steam a few days after the election and seeing TYRANNY -- SOMETIMES EVIL WINS, it was like "whoa, Steam/Obsidian, too soon".
Shame, because it would be right up my alley if I could bring myself to play it
You should play The Last Guardian if you have a PS4. A tale of friendship and teamwork to close out the year
No mention of Astroneer? I think it comes out in Early Access this month.
Should be this month. It sounds like they might be waiting for Microsoft cert so they can release both versions together which sucks PC has to be held back if that's the case but that's business.
I'm curious how much there is in the EA release.
Last week, they said release date was coming in a matter of days
Has anyone played Genital Jousting? Looks like a fun, inexpensive, party game.
Well, I bought it anyway. I saw it mentioned in last month's thread, but nothing about the gameplay.
I snagged it along with Overcooked, pumped to try these out Friday. Will report back.
Crowdfunding in 2017 will be starting off with a bang with two amazing campaigns: the next game from the devs of Stasis, Beautiful Desolation (January 24th), and the next game from Failbetter, Sunless Skies (February 1st)
I haven't backed anything since June, so I'll really really looking forward to those
