Anyone know what's going on with A.N.N.E? http://annegame.com/

The official website doesn't look like it's been updated for awhile yet the developer(I think it's just one guy) is soliciting pre-orders to help fund development after a successful 2013 Kickstarter campaign that managed to make him over $100,000.

Kickstarter link here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1445624543/anne

EDIT: His latest update appears to be from November 30, 2016 where he claims they're about 8 weeks away from alpha and he "hopes" to start beta access in April/May 2017. And reading through the updates it seems that he may have hired some extra help/team members.

According to the Kickstarter, the game was originally supposed to come out in 2013.

Seems to be a lot of red flags to me. Hope it turns out o.k. for those of you who backed it.

The Kickstarter was in 2013. It was never coming out in 2014. Three, four years for a single person project is not odd by any means. Plus, the game was playable at TGS this year

Seems to be doing fine

He's way overbudget but he has gotten some government funding (he's Canadian) and recently hired employees to help so my understanding is that financially the project is fine right now.

Anyone here play regularly on PS4 (especially Rocket League or Overwatch)? Been getting into online multiplayer recently, and since I never really did online before, I don't have any GAFfers as friends on consoles.

Not really sure where to post this, but I figured the fine folks here may enjoy this particularly good itch.io game I ran across in one of Rami Ismail's tweets today. Only takes 5-10 minutes to play and I think is worth it. Found out afterwards it was made by Nicky Case who might be known to some people around here.

This is genius! Gonna make a thread for it.

It is true!

a game about news cycles, vicious cycles, infinite cycles

We become what we behold - Free (Browser)

That didn't really work for me i'm afraid. I predicted the final message in like the first 10% of playtime and when the remaining 90% is just that message looped rather then it evolved, reinforced or subverted it just makes the final piece feel a little flat overall. Their is still a certain charm to it though, I really like the title.

I cannot believe the release date (or at least the year) of Miegakure still has not been announced.

Toma

Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...

I am playing regularly on PS4, but mostly not online games. Still nice to have people for rankings and such. Whats your psn handle?

I am currently kneedeep in Let it die btw, its a hardcore roguelite, so go take a look at it. ;p Fantastic game, if anyone wants some impressions, just let me know. :)

So any thoughts on an Indie GOTY thread? I wouldn't mind doing one, since I'm already doing the mobile one and can just copy and paste the thread format and all that. I don't think we have to do the crazy huge 50 game list of the others, Toma. Those were great, but let's be honest, that many pictures and so much text, I imagine not many read through all of it.

A more condensed ten favorites and then shorter blurbs and screenshots for like ten or twenty honorable mentions could work well IMO

I think GAF appreciates those lists. And either way, I already had an indie GOTY list and wouldnt want it to go to waste :p

After a lot of silence, forma.8 is on its way.

LONG TIME NO SPEAK.

Though what actually happened was I couldn't log onto GAF at work because I forgot my password so could never post. Then never checked GAF at home because I was such a sleepy idiot.

Yes - GOTY would go down well, but a shorter one this time. Last year I really struggled to order stuff, but also to think of enough games I'd put enough time into to qualify.

I certainly would be glad to vote and assist in a goty thread. So many cool stuff out this year it would be interesting in seeing the results.

Especially if we could get more people voting as well. I'd be interested to see what indies have permeated into "mainstream" thinking thanks to exposure on PS4 etc

Your friend Bouba is working over-time again, but it's not any job she enjoys doing. Who would, though. Making Word templates for clients who prefer low-cost office solutions over fresh and creative designs is not exactly the glamorous life one would imagine for a designer trying to make a living in Berlin.

Just learned that gaffer Lo_Fi, who you probably know from Four-Sided Fantasy or as the level designer of the Digipen game Perspective, joined the team working on Museum of Simulation Technology

Talk about a perfect fit. Perspective is still one of the most unique games to use perspective as a mechanic, so I'm so excited to see what he can do with Museum's puzzles

I remembered that game existed the other day. The only word out of that team was that Polygon 8 minute demo they posted early this year/late last. You would have thought based on how viral that thing got that they would have a dedicated PR guy keeping the hype, and public awareness, up.

2017 should be a good year too. And I am only showing below games which are already listed on Steam.

Birthdays, Hand of Fate 2, and Mount and Blade 2 if it makes it out next year are maybe my 3 most anticipated games of 2017 right now. Zelda and robot dinosaur PS4 game I never remember the dumb name of are probably next.

Really surprised to see Hitman that high up, but good to hear it turned out well :)
Blood Money is the game that made a fan of stealth games, so the series is kind of special to me. It coming back so strongly after Absolution gives it some extra weight for me

Hey Toma and More_Badass, can I just utter a big "thank you" for a year of Indie threads like these? They're absolutely awesome and some of the best - and most needed and educational - content on Gaf for sure. Fantastic work you two.

Maybe this is not the best place to ask but I'd love to see a top 10 (or even a top 25) Indie games in 2016 from each of you (unless you already did these in another thread, in which case: cheers!). Heck, even more awesome would be two separate lists, one for the more well-known "mainstream" games (i.e. for the Insides, The Witnesses and Stardew Valleys of this world) and one for more obscure, smaller and overlooked stuff. I definitely consider you two to be authorities on these games so I'm sure your lists would count for something. No obligations of course, just a thought.

Anyway, Merry Christmas (if you're into that)! Here's to another great year for Indie gaming!

Mercy Christmas indie GAF. Anyone opened any good indie themed gifts yet? One of my lovely friends gifted me Orwell so I look forward into digging into it.

Eurogamer reviewed Stephen's Sausage Roll: Essential

It's a shame to see such a respected site reduced to hipster-cred clickbait like this. They could easily have dedicated Christmas to re-reviewing the obviously essential Uncharted 4 and everyone would have been happy. But no, they had to get cute, just like RPS with that abomination of a GOTY pick.

Really blows my mind reading posts like this when they aren't sarcastic

A promising tidbit of news from the dev of Hong Kong Massacre
Yeah, sorry for lacking updates, hopefully it will change soon. Got a lot of stuff to show.

New STEALER update. Dev finished working on a different project, so he's back to Stealer now
