We are always interested in getting to know more people with the same hobby. If you share our love for Indies, let us know! We talk about anything Indie, want to talk about the mess that DoubleFine is leaving behind? The depth(s) of Dwarf Fortress? Need recommendations? This is the right spot to ask! We'd also love to read more impressions :)

| 3.5 Quick Note about Formatting |
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you want to suggest a game that has recently released or that looks interesting, but hasnt released yet, please follow the following formatting structure so the post is picked up by Toma-Bot:
Released games:
TITLE - PRICE (PLAT)
LINK
DESCRIPTION TEXT
Not yet released games:
TITLE - PLAT
LINK
DESCRIPTION TEXT
Copy the appropriate content and add the proper information for the black writing. Please only include 1 link and 1 image. I tried making it a bit failsafe, so it should be able to deal with 2 links or images as well, but 1 is safer.
If the game is free, then put "Free" as the price, otherwise please use $ or € for the price. You can also include more than one game per post (like the Screenshot saturday posts), but please stick to the above format for every entry.
If someone posts a non-proper formatted post, I'd appreciate if you could repost the game with the same info in the proper format.
I noticed there are a few noteworthy, and relatively unknown, projects that deserve a shoutout here because I feel that they share a common interest with the people in this thread. I talked to the guy from Pixabyte and MetaVendetta and both are very enthusiastic about the things they love and figured you might appreciate the shoutout as well. If you enjoy anything here or want to give feedback, let these guys know via their websites or also here in this thread. If you appreciate something, let people know. A heads up can sometimes very valuable.
So many free games are out there and so many are just really good games that a large majority of people will never play. From developers with large portfolios of freeware games, to free alphas and betas, to the hundreds and hundreds of entries for game jams such as Seven Day Roguelike, Seven Day FPS, Ludum Dare, and others, to the talented work of Digipen students, there's just an astounding amount of quality free games to play and enjoy that this thread tries to uncover.
Found it! Kingdom: New Lands. Apparently out since 9th of August.
ss_a47feaf983b58fc4901d356015e86dc93b4a990b.600x338.jpg
It is about exploration, discovery, survival and that awesome feeling that you get, when you figure something out, on your own. When multiple pieces all of a sudden come together to form a whole – a basis for a new strategy or an understanding how something in the world of Kingdom: New Lands truly works.
It is about tenacity and overcoming obstacles – even when they seem to be unsurmountable. Pulling through, against all odds. Rebuilding and recovering. And that huge internal high-five when you succeed.
It is about figuring out how best to manage your little Kingdom and tie everything together in a fashion where the game doesn’t play you – you play the game.
It’s also beautiful, tranquil, melancholy, frantic, stressful and wonderful. It delivers a spectrum of emotions that combine into a unique experience.
It's a minimalist strategy game where you need to discover the rules of how the world behaves before you can rule effectively. It's also a little bit whimsical, it's pretty, and it can be frustrating but it won't hold your hand.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/496300/
Gonna smuggle that into the thread.
I played the original Kingdom. The art style is so goddamned good. The reflections in the water! The UI (or lack of one) is great too.
I never managed to last for long though. Got invaded only a few days in every time, wasn't sure how to prepare for it.
Nice.
I recommend The House Abandon. Free, and it'll only take about an hour. Really fun though.
I was surprised to see who the devs were because I only knew them from their mobile games
But then I read that the founder and lead dev worked on Alien Isolation and other Creative Assembly games, it all made sense
Considering that they call this version a prototype, I hope that means they plan on expanding the concept
Told in the manner of a fable read to a child, the game has two levels of reading: the story of Pankapu, epic and naïve in the dream-world, and the one about Jaha’rell's life, in the real-world, dark and tragic. To be released on September 21.
This one is going to be released a day before Virginia. There is an old demo on the website.
Also The Bunker is for Sep 20.
Just learned about this, the next game from the devs of The Curious Expedition
The Curious Case - 2017 (PC, Mac, Linux)
cc_mood_1.png
http://maschinen-mensch.com/press/sheet.php?p=the_curious_case
The Curious Case is a generative crime story game set in the Roaring Twenties of Berlin. As a chief inspector of the homicide department, the player's goal is to solve numerous murder cases. The gameplay consists of investigating crime scenes, interrogating people, combining clues and traveling to various locations all across Berlin to eventually find enough evidence to identify and convict the murderer in a trial at court. Each crime case is taking place in Berlin during the time of the first German democracy. The political system has broken apart and on the streets armed forces of extremist left and right wing parties fight for superiority. The third largest city of the world is caught in between existential angst and the buzzing lights of the night. In the center of this intense and varied setting the player seeks to uncover a hidden web of entanglements and crimes.
Also to note (hopefully): I'm hesitating between Sept. 30th and Oct. 18th to release Honey, but it should be one of those two, barring unexpected setbacks! The graphics are amazing.
Morning Men is an episodic story driven RPG inspired by the golden age of science fiction. The game has a strong visual style with elements of contemporary moving comics with colours and motifs reminiscent of Moebius. The characters in Morning Men look like a mash-up between Wizards (1977) and The Fifth Element (1997). To be released on Nov 22.
The less you know about the game when you try it, the better.
Edit: Looking over this all, it is quite obvious that PC is being used as Windows PC and not a general term for PC which could be Windows/Mac/Linux. After having Windows PCs since 1994, I've just assumed PC meant Windows. I've also ignored Mac as I've never had one. But now looking specifically for Mac games, I've found that to not be the case. Seems even Valve uses it that way. It's funny what can be missed if you're not looking.
ctrl+f and couldn't find anything, here's a cool looking one I heard about on one of the PAX panels a couple days ago:
Karma. Incarnation 1 (Sept)
20140601043054-astral_gif_v01.gif
Trailer
http://operationrainfall.com/2016/09/06/pax-west-impressions-karma-incarnation-1/
You control a lumpy little protagonist named Pip, who has been thrust into a strange world where karma and moral decisions hold weight and affect the outcomes of everything you do. For example, do you want to eat that strange creature over there? Go for it, but doing so might keep you from progressing past a gate that judges you for that decision. You quickly learn you can interact with almost anything in your environment, as well as using items to help proceed. The truly fascinating game mechanic, however, is your astral sight.
Once this is activated, you can see things that aren’t normally visible, which can lead to some ingenious solutions to otherwise basic puzzles. Another thing different about Karma is that there is no dialogue, or at least nothing in english. When Pip communicates with others, it is in a gibberish monster dialect. However, you will see thought bubbles with artistic representations of what they are thinking about as they talk, which helps you figure out what’s happening.
This kinda weird is my favorite type of point and click, shades of Neverhood with lack of intelligible dialogue, all the logic being derived from the world's inhabitants and learning the ins and outs of the alien ecology as you progress. Love discovering potential gems like this to find out their release is so near.
Have you played Samorost 3? You might like that
1) N++ - How could this not be my favorite? N was my childhood platformer, and this is the result of a decade of polish and refinement on this already great foundation. A must-play indie effort that should be held up alongside titles like Super Meat Boy and Spelunky HD
2) Overland - An ever-tightening noose of a tactical roguelike. There is no salvation, only survival and escape, so every move counts in this isometric post-apocalyptic roadtrip
3) Streets of Rogue - A fun blend of roguelite shooter and light immersive sim, with a surprisingly amount of variety and depth. Each class plays different, and the complexity of systems allows for a lot of strategies and playstyles at the quick condensed pace of an action roguelite
4) Reigns - A clever distillation of kingdom management, with long-form events and objectives, charming art, and an addictive dripfeed of new cards and events.
5) Four Sided Fantasy - A smart puzzle platformer that wringes consistently clever challenges from the concept of a wrapping screen, complemented by a vibrant aesthetic and interesting uses of the side-scrolling camera.
6) Okhlos - Need to play more of this, but it seems to be fun although excessively hectic arcade-y RTS. Like Anarcute, it's fun to control an unstoppable mob and the Greek theme and pixel art aesthetic is engaging
7) Cognizance - Another slick game from Daniel Linssen. Combining your means of movement with manipulating the machinery of the level itself is a clever concept
8) Flatshot - A minimalist shmup that requires a nice bit of on-the-fly skill and strategy to defeat each boss pattern. Parry, charge shot, bullet shield, dodge and weave?
Thanks for the thread, OP!
I played through The Turing Test recently and can attest to the fact that it's an absolutely amazing game. Easily the Portal 3 that we never got.
Things from this list that I'm interested in and looking forward to:
- Event[0]
- Luna City
- The Fall of Lazarus
- Venineth
Supercontinent LTD also looks great, will be trying that out.
