That's definitely not normal, the prompt should disappear once the installation is done correctly. Did you have a notice regarding administrator rights during install? Did your antivirus act up? If all else fails, you can manually install directx from your installation folder, in the "redist" subdirectory (dxwebsetup.exe)!

Either way, the new update should help (disabling screenflashes will now also affect the pulse effect which is the one apparently giving you trouble here)!

Ah, I forgot that since mine is remapped somewhere else! Using any other key for screenshotting doesn't display any extra info on my end - as I said, F12 is also a universal debug key for NW and possibly causes problems with the overlay, I'm not sure there's anything I can do with it. Could you please try with another screenshot shortcut key, see if the issue is still there?

Thanks! :)

Tried your suggestions. Trying to install DirectX from the folder and I got the same message saying I already have a newer version installed, it's DX11. Disabling the screenflashes worked, though the game reverted it to enabled when I fought
Little Sun in the dream
. I remapped the screenshot key to F10 still get the border on the screenshot as well the fps counter.

Put more time into Totally Accurate Battle Simulator, and I'm very glad that the dev will be taking his time with it. It has a lot of potential. Clustertruck looks like it'll be a big success so TABS will definitely benefit from that
In times of survival games and tycoons/sims it's amazing to see how a game as basic as Clustertruck can create such a huge amount of hype pre-release. Not sure why - probably simply because of "lol jumping on exploding trucks"? Still, interesting. :D

TABS on the other hand has that YouTube humor that will help it get really popular, too.

It looks like one of those game that takes such a simple mechanic and just wrings every possibility from it. You're not jumping on crashing exploding trucks. You're jumping on crashing exploding trucks as the environment crumbles around you, as levels shift and change, as massive physics-based objects crush and roll through the stages, all while using special truck-based abilities to pull off Tony Hawk-style combos for speedrunning and high scores

It looks insane while also looking like clever game design, the way a good puzzler will explore a mechanic from every angle

Quite a few interesting new games lately. I don't write much in these threads, but I like to read through them. Indie games offer the most interesting new experiences. They might not always turn out as good as you want them, but they have kept me much more interested in the medium, and sometimes you come across a real gem.

Yeah, but sadly this type of game normally gets overlooked by the mass craving for another game with countless stats, upgrades, crafting, managing, farming, ... that's why I'm surprised. And the game already had a massive following even in early alpha without any abilities or huge physics objects. I guess it simply fulfills a player fantasy that nobody knew even existed. :)

Inspired by the wonders of text adventures on the ZX Spectrum, The Legendary Amstrad CPC, and Commodore 64, "The House Abandon" is a modern re-imagining of the text adventure, played in the game, whilst the environment reacts around you.

I have tried The House Abandon. There is a nice
inception concept and jump scare
, but I don't recommend the game: the dialogue option is too constrained and I ended up stuck close to the end of the game in the kitchen because "go to the hall", "go back", "leave the kitchen", etc. would not register and the game only accepted "go back to the hallway". It shows how hard it is to make a good chatbot-based text adventure like event[0].

Also do not go to the itch.io page of the game because it is currently spammed with porn pics.

Public beta of Life of Sundura is coming out this month, 9/29
The base release will allow you to play the Life of Sundura from birth of death. Sundura’s life consists of a great circular migration (pictured above). So the initial release will be made up of the following:

- Circular Current of Debris (that light up your migration path)
- Growth of Sundura
- Birth and Death of Sundura
- Mother/Child Interaction

That’s it. There is a LOT more to the game such as predators, hunting, environments, artificial organisms, etc. But the idea is to start off with a base that has nothing but the most fundamental aspects to the game and then grow from there with continuous feedback. Thus allowing the game to become what it wants to be.

The Bunker seems to be really short if you go by Steam reviews. ~2 hours long. These short movie like games priced at 20€ just don't do it for me. You might say that if a game is good playtime doesn't matter. I don't agree with that. A 2 hour long action platformer might have been worth 40€ back in the day, but today I wouldn't buy it for 20€. I don't even buy movies for 20€.

Event[0] is another game I think is priced too much. Does seem to be a bit longer than The Bunker, but it's about 4 hours long to complete.

I would buy Event[0] at 15€ max and The Bunker at 10€ max.

I would agree with you regarding event[0] if I had not been playing the game for about 9 hours in total, by trying to go (a bit too blindly) for every ending and every achievement. I don't consider the game to be polished enough since I encountered a few infuriating bugs along the way, but it has its charm and I understand the devs felts there was enough content to price it at that point.

You might be interested in Virginia, which is to be sold for $10 on Sep 22, and will last as long as a movie. There is a demo on Steam (which is useful to see if you don't get nauseated).

Is it fun playing it for different endings? Or is it basically the same with very little difference? If there's bugs I might wait a bit on this one and see if they fix it or not.

I have the demo downloaded, but haven't played it yet. I'll get to it, someday!

Very little difference and not that fun, but you get to appreciate some work of the devs which might have passed unnoticed during a first playthrough, like some discussions with the AI that you did not trigger. It did not feel like tedious work, but it is not for everyone.

New game from the creator of The Floor Is Jelly. He also mentions that this is one of two projects he's been working, so I'm hoping the other is single player focused

I should really sit down and finish Sorcery 2.

I don't know what it is about Inkle games but I keep stopping them because I feel like I'm making poor decisions. I don't want to resort to a guide though.

I've always felt they were the kind of games where you should roll with the punches for the best experience. My status at the start of 3...was not very suited for traversing a treacherous wasteland (ie few supplies, little gold, and a mean god as my guide) but I wouldn't want it any other way after my playthrough of 2

Yeah, I agree with this. ..but they're just gamey enough that the YOU FUCKED UP part of my brain keeps me replaying the same chapters. And that's without knowing how much stamina/gold/whatever I actually need to make it through. 80 Days makes me even crazier.

I'll try to shut off that part of my brain next time.

I played the start of Pavilion at TGS. It's a pretty neat concept/gimmick and the art was great, but I'm worried the gimmick could get old very fast.

DVkDz0v.jpg

https://twitter.com/failbettergames

The stars are dying. The stars are the Judgements: the inventors, arbiters and enforcers of the universe's laws - but a revolution has begun, and the stars are being murdered.
This is the Victorian Empire in space - the High Wilderness - a "blistering, wonderful night" among the thrones and domains of the stars. The Empress has abandoned London and led an exodus to the High Wilderness, to carve out a new British Empire. With the Empire being increasingly authoritarian, bohemians, revolutionaries and outcasts - like you - are trying to make a life for themselves on its fringes.
Our influences include: the science fiction of H G Wells and C S Lewis, the planetary romances of Leigh Brackett, Art Nouveau, Event Horizon, trains.

Haha, yeah. I remember how the devs started teasing the game with gifs. Wondering how that turned out.
