Oooh, Herald looks neat. Could be kinda clunky if the VN + 3rd person parts don't mesh well, but I like what it's going for.

I guess I'm excited about Wasteland, and that art is brilliant, but I dunno. I'm waiting for Torment to release before I really decide on inXile.
If the Brotherhood's past work is an indication, it will. Have you played Stasis, or seen their other projects Cayne and Beautiful Desolation?

That's 2D though. I hope they can keep the quality high when they have to get it running in a game engine.

Cayne and Beautiful Desolation use a new engine with 3D models and scans and such

Wait, Cayne will have realtime 3D environments? I must not be paying attention to those Kickstarter updates.

edit: Beautiful Desolation still looks like it's using prerendered 2D environments.

BTW, I don't have anything against prerendered stuff! I just think that inXile will push for realtime environments.

Having a quick look at Stasis that certainly is a very, very nicely detailed art style. If it actually reaches that level of quality it'll be amazing.

My top ten are:
- Ruiner
- Thumper
- Aragami
- Manifold Garden
- Hand of Fate 2
- Ghost Song
- Sometimes Always Monsters
- Astroneer
- Desync
- Perception

Ruiner is too violent for my tastes.

Thumper has an amazing list of awards. Somehow, I never cared about that one, but I don't know why. I mean...

I played the demo way back in January and it was so good. I usually don't care for rhythm or music games, but Thumper just drew me in. It's pure spectacle, a audiovisual assault of color and movement and music, and you just get into this flow with the music and gameplay and timing.

And that was at a kiosk in the middle of Best Buy without headphones

This GDC talk is a great overview on the gameplay:

Do we yet know if Thumper is going to get any PC VR support? I know they've been talking up PSVR over the last year or so.

Pulled the Trigger on Metroniomicon since not my folks seem to be playing it. I've only spent 30 minutes playing it but it's fun so far. It's essentially Feep's Before the Echo (in that it's amplitude with abilities) combined with the party mechanics of Final Fantasy Theatrhythm. Gameplaywise so far it's resulted in the best of both worlds where you're having to make decision on what abilities to use like in BtE combined with the RPG progression and party building of Theatrhythm. I'll need to play a lot more to see how it opens up though I think it's worth looking into if you enjoy rhythm games without blockbuster soundtracks.

The only other indie game I've played last month that hasn't been mentioned here is Rogue Wizards. It's a super casual roguelike with a cool visual style where dungeon tiles fall from the sky as they move into your line of sight and fall out of existence when they leave it. Mechanically it's an average roguelike with you choosing between ranged/melee weapons that have a variety of status effects with the only really combat depth coming from your use of magic; there are 6 elements and 3 spells for each that have a decent variety of utility between them. Unfortunately the enemy/boss variety isn't that great, so far I've been able to beat all of the bosses with the same tactics and the dungeons all seem very samey. Outside of dungeon's you're slowly building up a town; you'll find an NPC in each story dungeon who adds a new building and you upgrade certain building with money/items you pick up on runs. It's a pretty decent podcast game in that the grinding's fun/easy, but it's completely bereft of the strategy/tension you can find in other recent roguelikes like Dungeonmans.

I know Baddy thought super highly of Oxenfree - which is on sale on Steam for about £3.50.

Also I finished Inside last night - what a cracker of a game that was!
