Yea Champ is pretty much a huge wad it would be one thing if this was another persona or something but its not its the MK community and they have no problem showing up to their events. That was not intended as a call to arms for the MK guys it was Champ shooting his big mouth off.

After the first major or two if Champ gets bodied hes going to start shitting all over the game.

EDIT Actualy Im wrong, after the first major he's going to bitch all the playtesters got in-depth early acess, after the second then the game will magically be shit.

Believe it or not, but Champ is not a bad person. He does what he does as a means to egg people on and show up for shit involving their own game. He did it before with persona. He said he would never play that game because the prize pots are chump change since it isn't big enough. That's him daring the P4 community to grow in size and become something more than that game people cared about for a couple months. Honestly? This is no different. I don't know about the MK community, but the capcom one essentially gets it's drive through competition. Shit talking and things like that drives their players to continue to be better and the crowd loves them for it.

Seeing as how you took the bait and got upset (which is what he wanted, by the way. For you to be all "We'll show that asshole") you might as well do it. If not to prove him wrong, than because it would make this game stronger and that would make this scene stronger.

We already do show up and support our game. That's why we're back at EVO for the 3rd year in a row. We don't need F Champ to motivate us to play. So don't worry. We will show up and body him. Then in 2 years when all those Capcom guys have long sinced moved on we'll still be playing this and MK9 as well.

The FGC rags on eachother all the time. It's just normal for this community and almost always not serious. That's what I mean by don't take too much offense to it.

The MK community is not "shit on constantly". That is just a straight up wrong perception. Is MK as popular as the Capcom games? No. There are legitimate reasons for that which have nothing to do with the FGC though. Namely its hyper-violence/aesthetic/style is very polarizing and not something desirable by all. Obviously that will never change because that is what makes Mortal Kombat Mortal Kombat but it is always going to be something that holds it back from reaching greater popularity around the world.

MK is obviously not dead though. It's at EVO again this year, the community behind it is strong. You know this. Where are people from the community (and I don't mean stream monsters who troll every game) saying it's a dead game or a shit game or whatever your perceive to be sleights against the community?

And at the end of the day Injustice is not a Mortal Kombat game. It is an all new thing that no single game community can claim ownership to. I think that NRS has been right in all these interviews saying this has the potential to pull in and appeal to the entire FGC. All the elements are there. So yes, the MK community taking offense to a player from the Capcom community wanting to play their game and saying he is going to be the champ (like he says with all the games he plays, and recently can actually back that up) is pretty foolish and childish.

This game is for the entire FGC. Even beyond that, this game is for everyone that likes these DC characters. It doesn't belong to anyone.

FChamp just did Injustice the biggest favor, community-wise. Right after that you heard Gootecks tell Hector Sanchez "FChamp just made your day, huh?". Left to their own devices people are just going to play SF4 and Marvel3 over and over. Injustice needs this kind of hype to kickstart a bigger community than MK has.

Well DC rebooted their universe after flashpoint so you might want to start there. Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Batman are some of the better books of the relaunch. Justice League started poorly, but has gotten much better recently. Flash is alright to.

If you're looking for pre New52 stuff check out Geoff Johns Flash and Green Lantern along with Grant Morrisons JLA, Batman and All-Star Superman.

Edit: But really just find something that looks interesting and just start reading. Use Wikipedia to help fill in any gaps. If a book is good it won't really matter if you haven't read everything before it. Every comic is some one's first.

As for flashpoint, The series details an altered DC Universe in which only Barry Allen, Kid Flash and Booster Gold seem to be aware of significant differences between the regular timeline and the altered one, including Cyborg's place as the quintessential hero, Superman's apparent detention by the government and a Thomas Wayne version of Batman who spends "his days running Wayne Casinos."

It is the precursor to the New 52. You ultimately don't need to read it to enter the new 52 and could simply start there if that is what you choose to do. My advice for you if you go into the New 52 is to sample everything you can get your hands on. You never know what you end up liking. Give everything at least 3 issues to determine if you'd like to continue it or not.

I was on the fence about this game. Didn't really like the animations or the art style. After seeing the PAX stream and some more game play I think I might pick this up. I bought MK9 and loved the story mode but never got into the game. Marvel kept my attention more than MK. I'm interested in Catwoman, GL, and GA.

I only recently started reading DC comics myself. The current Batman series by Scott Snyder is fantastic, as is the first arc of Batman & Robin. Justice League is also pretty good.

No news and I doubt it will happen since we are pretty close to release now. (And the MK demo got datamined hard and NRS probably wants to avoid that)
