So Hot Ryu is a thing now. Daddy has taken the world by storm.

Does anyone else think that this could be a watershed moment for equal inclusion of eye candy? Capcom have dabbled with this kind of thing before (mostly Chris in RE) but never this forwardly and with their most significant character.

Maybe now the floodgates have opened we are entering a brave new world of videogame fanservice? Discuss.

[edit] For the people questioning 'Hot Ryu' instead of 'Hobo Ryu' or 'bearded Ryu', the name is in reference to his given name among people with an interest in this sort of thing.

What makes him hot Ryu? He's had costumes before with no shirt. Is it the beard? Do beards just make someone hot now? As someone with a beard in the summer it can definitely get hot.

If every character I found attractive was a significant event then there would be no such thing as one because it would be a common occurrence.

This really should have been his default look. He looks amazing, and really I like the idea that he decided to grow a beard after all this time. Just gives him a more aged and experienced appearance.

that SFV's design is decidedly trying to make Ryu hotter,

in SF4, he's a thick and muscled guy due to training and a life of battles, but it's uneventful.

the pictures in OP are exactly what you'd find in gay porn cartoon/anime sites, only they are official designs.

It's just the art style change.

Look at all these costumes from SFIV (Sagat base, obv). They'd look better to anyone in the SFV aesthetic.

There's a looooot of shirtless + pantsless males in SFIV. The only issue in terms of fan service is that the art style was not kind to it.

More over, they all look a little silly. Hot Ryu is played pretty straight. Well, er, you know what I mean

Until he blows kisses to the screen, I'm not impressed.

He doesn't seem significantly hotter than previous Ryus. The beard is OK, but I'd like his pants to be shorter and maybe he could be more flirty. He looks too dangerous to be an invitingly hot guy.

And they are mostly dlc

Street fighter 4 Straight dude version - 60 bucks
Street Fighter 4 non straight dude version - 70 dolars

And yet, plenty of people seem to think this guy is hot stuff with that skin

He looks good, I just don't see what the big deal is. Besides the beard, what's so different?

If the debate is the question above, then the answer is no. His main characterization is not "sexy", he just has a beard that is sexy.
