Is Konami doing ANYTHING with their Gaming Division?

thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
Without diminishing Konami they left their franchises high and dry because they think only 2D matters.

you speak as if this classic game company was still any relevant

it's been as dead as Atari, Taito and Namco for decades, last great game being MGS4

I don't think owning IP's from the past constitutes a "gaming division." I don't think they employ any developers at this point.

Imagine owning the rights to Castlevania, watching as tons of Castlevania clones sell like mad and then thinking.. let's just let it sit in the vaults for another decade or so.

They've just been doing Football and Baseball games and some AA efforts since MGS V.
In Japan, their adoption of the Switch is starting to bear fruit and seeing as they've seen YoY in Entertainment-related revenue in the last five years things are looking good.

Famitsu Physical Sales Konami PSV/PS4/SWI:
2014: 351.977
2015: 625.467
2016: 572.798
2017: 386.667
2018: 647.028
2019: 681.713
2020: 465.002

This year one of the biggest holiday games in Japan will be Momotaro which is basically Japan's Monopoly, last time Nintendo released a game in the Franchise on the 3DS in the holiday of 2016 and the game ended up with over 400K sales, so there is a decent chance they will surpass 1 million sales in Japan for 2020.

Only focusing on AA that they don't invest a ton into, but make big returns. Maybe we will see something MGS related in the future since the game has historically done very well and in Japan and Snake is in Smash Bros.

Isn't it Konami's job to make us care about what they release? After all, in theory it's our money they want, right? Although it's undeniable to say that they have stepped out massively from the AAA gaming market after Kojima left the company so maybe they actually don't care about our money, but I think just the fact that people are asking about them means that people care.
It's their job to make someone care about their work, not necessarily "us". Getting mad at them for not targeting "us" is childish.

Welcome to 2016. Konami is dead and that's a good thing. May they go bankrupt, or at least sell their gaming division.
