From his facebook, includes Devil Third Online, and done because he wants to work with more talented western people.

Makes sense imo, just surprised at it happening (studios aren't cheap).
Good luck to him, not an easy task to work/collaborate between different studios!

Edit from the website:
Valhalla Games Studios International Ltd., together with its subsidiaries mainly based in Japan and Korea, is an emerging global entertainment software and content creation company primarily engaged in the creation, development, co-development and operation of high quality interactive entertainment software in the form of video games, mobile applications and arcade machine content.

Edit 2:
Will be in Vancouver.
Long messages from Itagaki and the CEO on the website.

They also apparently have their own engine now:

We own a top world-level gaming engine, RUNE (Real Ultimate Ninja Engine) system, which is our own intellectual property. This engine enables us to greatly reduce the time and money costs for the development of high-quality games.

Wonder if it's some weird UE3 fork from Devil's Third or even off that Darksiders engine from once upon a time.

Edit: Devil's Third Online is also expected to come out in North America in May with a beta in April.

Why would they go with their own engine when there are far cheaper and better options available. Seems like a lot of wasted dev effort.

Knowing that Itagaki is continuing to expand horizons, and he's in Vancouver, makes me so happy.

I'm in Van and I'd totally take up that opportunity.

How do they even have the money for that?

Casino minigames.
More seriously, he's probably surrounder bybreally good businessmen, and likely still has the benefit of the doubt as DT was in development hell for a very long time.

The information page on the RUNE engine is kind of strange. Really sounds designed around MMOs, and while they say it's suited for action games I get the feeling it's a pretty oversized tool for that purpose.

Itagaki's message is as insightful as always, though. Looking forward to seeing what they can do.

I actually played Devil's Third and while not atrocious the story is bad, the performance dips all over the place, and the gameplay is lack luster.
With all the engine issues they had with it they should've just gone with an easy engine to work with like UE4 instead of spending so much to actually make an engine

Devil's Third ultimately ran on UE3, and that was after it was running on at least one other engine made by another studio. Perhaps Itagaki feels that they're better off doing all of their own work.

It's exciting to see that The Devil's Third on PC is definitely coming to the States. Beta testing in April, can't wait! I like the core gameplay, even though it's messy as hell!

After how long Devils Third took and how well it performed who the fuck is investing in this guy.

He's the man who made the two best action games of all time. Devils Third was garbage, but that maybe wasn't entirely his fault. He'll get one or two more chances. And he deserves them.

He needs to make an action game though.

Confused as to where the money is coming from. I would have assumed Valhalla would be dead after what happened with Devil's Third, but who knows.

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.

Devil's Third was a hit. Haven't you seen the resale prices it's in high demand.
