So yeah... I'm addicted to Maximum The Hormone latest album - Bu-ikikaesu!!
Too many good singles like Koi no Megalover which I can't seem get that screaming vocalist out of my head lol. And UverWorld's Endscape is good....

The only japanese music I enjoy are some japanese electronic acts:

nobukazu takemura
takagi masakatsu
aoki takamasa
tsujiko noriko
takako minekawa
kazumasa hashimoto
ryoji ikeda
miho hatori
jazztronik

I'm really like Maaya Sakimoto right now and her 30 minutes night flight album. The first song is very catchy.

I also like ROUND TABLE featuring Nino. In particular their Nino album which has Puzzle ~Extra Hot Mix on it.

Yeah, the added instrument tunes is way better than the original one.

I wanted to listen to rei harakami a while ago but could never find any of his stuff. How do you like the new cornelius album?

Buffalo Daughter, Towa Tei, Kyoto Jazz Massive, NUJABES, GAGLE, Fantastic Plastic Machine, United Future Organization, Yukimi Nagano, and DJ Krush should also be added to this list as well.

Hehe, actually I like the original version. I'm more fond of trumpets than I am of guitars. That's just me, though.

They've got me haunting a family in Texas.

Pretty much what he said.

Add to my list:

Piana
YMO
Sakamoto Ryuichi
Blue Hearts
Unicorns
Boris
Towa Tei
And I also have a secret live for early Luna Sea.

Also, if anyone is interested...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVjTNb2J32g
is a friend of mine in a J-HipHop group

and

http://www.mf247.jp/mfevent/movie_page_3.html
the top video there (Psysalia) is another friend of mine who just had his first video release. If you can put up with 2 minutes of them introducing themselves, I'd be interested to hear what people think of their song.

I'm a big fan of the genre. I like a lot of stuff from L'arc~en~Ciel, a few songs from Nana Kitade, a few songs from Utada Hikaru, and countless anime OPs and EDs from countless artists I can't even begin to list. I spend the majority of my day listening to AnimeBW Radio, which is my little radio station that plays a lot of anime/videogame music. So yeah... [/shameless plug]

I haven't bought the new cornelius album yet or listened to it. Thanks for reminding me.

The Rei Harakami Lust album is just great.

I was walking through shibuya last weekend, and some karaoke place was showing videos of some hip hop group that was popular in the early 2000's. I forgot their name. I also kind of like Rip Slyme. I just like that Japanese hip hop is not about punching bitches and earning your cred but is more light hearted and fun.

Oh yeah, and Sakamoto Ryuichi! kind of like a Japanese version of Michael Hedges or George Winston :)

Yokota Susumu is good too. I have a album from the Ryukyu Underground which I like: they sing okinawan style where they lilt there voice.

And the Yoshida Bros. are okay (the music in the Wii ad from the US) They're cute too!

Doot doot....my current playlist is filled with:

Maaya Sakamoto

Crystal Kay

Rie Fu

Yui

Rip Slyme

Porno Graffiti

pjberri

Crotchety Old Man
Everything I like has been covered by starchild, tnw and ten5ive9ine already. In fact, I'm listening to Boris right now, and I've been listening to 28 by Aoki Takamasa + Tujiko Noriko a lot lately.

Sakamoto Ryuichi

Can't believe I forgot this one. He's probably one of the most influential japanese electronic musicians. I guess I should also add Sketch Show to this listen then.

I didn't know they were japanese. For some reason ( I guess the name ) I always assumed they were german or something.

Can't believe I forgot these guys, too. A lot of their music is hit or miss IMO, but their good songs are great.

Forgot to add Guitar Wolf to my list

Was never a fan of guitar wolf (wild zero was hilarious, though), but still, Bass Wolf RIP.

Don't know a lot about japanese punk/rock/garaage, but i suppose i should add teengenerates and melt banana to the list.

Shikao Suga has been on my regular rotation since I first heard his work in the OP credits to Boogiepop Phantom. Some of his stuff is pretty hit-or-miss, but mostly hits for me.

Do As Infinity is also pretty good for rock music... shame they broke up, haven't heard what the vocalist is doing now.

Maaya Sakamoto's work is good, though I thought Yunagi Loop was total crap. Her stuff with Yoko Kanno producing was really dynamite, though. Haven't heard the new album, though.

Namie Amuro is good as a Japanese version of Beyonce.

There's more I could add, I just can't think of it right now.

DAI sucked, the vocalist tomiko van has two solo albums out now. both are snoozefests.

my friend bought all the Stance Punk CDs when he went to Japan, then he came back and realized he actually hated them and gave them all to me, I only really like a few of their songs (only 3), but I really like the The Blue Hearts.

on top of various artists and bands named already in this thread, I really like Supercar.

Some people I know are really high on Miyavi and Dir en Grey. But after hearing quite a bit of both, Dir en Grey is apparently Japanese for "Korn", and Miyavi seems to be some guy just randomly making noise on a guitar. I don't see the draw of either.

edit - Malice Mizer has a song or two I like, but what's up with that Mana band... they sound like a band doing bad Castlevania covers.

Utada Hikaru was my First Love.

But after that, I got into Korean music so I forgot about Japanese music aside from some songs from anime. BTW, who did the ending song for Denno Coil?

They both suck, so they're comparable. Screaming ass garbage.

L'arc en ciel are my all time favourite band. I love every single song (although ready steady go is starting to annoy me due to the sheer popularity of it amongst anime fans) but never the less, i was, at their Yokosuka concert, was a bit pissed because i waited with a bunch of girls to get tickets, as they wanted some aswell. But no tickets came :( So i just picked up as much swag as i can from the concert stall.

Hail, peons, for I have come as ambassador from the great and bountiful Blueberry Butt Explosion
Primarily I listen to stuff like Hikki and some older J-Rock bands, but recently I`ve gotten into TMR`s new band, Abingdon Boys School. I`m reeeeaaaallllyyy liking them, especially Howling (which appears as the OP for Darker than Black), and Nephilim (Which appears in Folks Soul).

I also love me some ジン. You can check out a lot of their videos on Youtube.

Yeah, she has a shitload of remixes. She's the most remixed artist in music history:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remix#Trivia said:
Ayumi Hamasaki is the most remixed artist ever, with over 1200 official remixes.

I have almost all of them, plus some unofficial ones. Getting a hold of every single one is no easy task :(

But besides that fact, even, she has released a lot of original material anyway. She's about to release her 41st single!

DS455
