Interesting, that marks a decline compared to both DW4 and SW's first week sales. Not to say I think the series' popularity is waning per se, but it seems like it has definitely leveled off.

Whenever Team Ninja releases a game, the Xbox outsells the Cube. Imagine if the company could release more than 4 games. :p

Hardware data tomorrow.

So, Namco Museum never showed up in the top 10 dailies, but is here now? Also, decent showing by Another Code, but I think some folks might have been expecting much more.

I don't think it outsold anything when Ninja Gaiden was released.

Assault managed to beat out Star Fox 64's 1st week, hopefully it can hold on as long as that game did (though I'm expecting sales more in line with Adventures overall).

DW5 is about 200k behind DW4 and 100k behind SW. I guess the series is slowing after climaxing at DW4. Pretty great sales still though, if fact everything did decently this time. Well, except Namco Museum... I wonder if Namco will port it DS now that's it's never going to make targets (150k)? :p

I think part of DW5 hit can be attributed that many people thought DW4 was somewhat of a disappointment. Same reason why MGS3 took a hit in sales in NA because of people being disappointed in MGS2. Like MGS3, it looks like DW5 has gone all out in the sequel to provide something above and beyond expectations.

DW2 to DW3 was a big jump

DW3 to DW4 was pretty much a cash in. Empires was a nice addition but it was too late. A very good game, but DW3 is still considered the better game on a whole by fans.

DW4 to DW5 is a sizeable jump again

Does Dynasty Warriors hold the record in the number of sequels, semi-sequels/expansions and spin-offs on a single console?

Hmm, I dunno. Paging Jarrod with the Battle newtwork games! Wasn't there a battle network 3.5 or 4.5??? :lol

DW2
DW3
DW3:XL
DW4
DW4:XL
DW4: Empires
DW5

I guess if you want to count them (though I would consider them two seperate series)

Samurai Warriors
Samurai Warriors: XL

Koei won't put out a new Dynasty Warriors game next February, but I bet Samurai Warriors 2 comes out next February. They'll save Dynasty Warriors 6 for PS3 in February 2007! :D

Go read what you originally said.

I'm not going to dig up all the numbers to show your wrong but here's what I could find in a couple of seconds.

Release of Ninja Gaiden:

March 8-14, 2004
Game Boy Advance SP - 43,826
PlayStation 2 - 42,448
GameCube - 13,171
Game Boy Advance - 3,924
Xbox - 1,142
Wonder Swan Crystal - 372
PSone - 356

Xbox didn't outsell the Cube so what you originally said was wrong.

It was a generalization, and a correct one. Those games have had a profound impact on Japanese sales of the Xbox, such as they are.
