Well it's not really surprising if you consider how long the 360 has been out in Japan. Also if you buy a 360 in Japan, chances are high that you're a hardcore gamer anwyay.

When you consider that certain games (e.g. Blue Dragon, Trusty Bell) prompted some hardcore gamers to purchase the new game combined with a used system before selling the system back, it's not as surprising. It'll be very interesting to hear first-hand reports of the used PS3 market a week or two after FFXIII's release.
