Dual gpu with a side of secret sauce confirmed
There is no Dual GPU, no Power of the Cloud, no Secret Sauce.

Mark Cerny detailed the PS5’s clear performance advantages with regards to the SSD and moving data around the system. I can understand some having difficulty deciphering this. But NX Gamer did a great job putting it into layman’s terms.

These performances advantages are understood by devs and they will have already benchmarked PS5 width their upcoming titles.

Let’s be clear. XSX’s (approx) 15% GPU advantage will, theoretically, allow them to push 15% higher resolutions. We’ll have to see how hard forthcoming games push the GPU’s. Furthermore, many devs may opt for dynamic resolutions to ensure there are no performance drops.

Let’s also be clear and state PS5’s (approx) 100% SSD throughput advantage cannot be matched by XSX. Of course to fully maximise this a game will need to be designed from the ground-up around PS5.

Ya.

And Jason Schreier was one of the so-called insiders claiming PS5 had more TF than it actually did. He basically only fessed up the morning of the Cerny presentation hinting PS5 wouldn't be powerful as expected. Where was this secret info the past year?

I wouldn't believe all this damage control the past 72 hours.

If you do, it'll be you believing the past 12 months "PS5 is12-13tf" all over again.

That's funny because Jason refuted claiming any of that with proof. Where's yours?

PS5 is beastly, just a bit less beastly than XSX. Best to just get both platforms. XSX for all multiplates and Xbox eclusives and PS5 for the sony exclusives
Oh, I'm definitely getting both regardless. Sony is still king of first party and I'm sure they'll have these games looking incredible and punching out of their league. But, I do wish it was more on par with the Series X. Multiplats will definitely be on the Series X. Hopefully Microsoft knocks it out of the park first party wise this upcoming gen. They have the studios now.

Unfortunately for you, this would have been a great point if this were Sony's marketing team making these comments.
To be fair cerny/sony was somewhat disingenuous, he downplays total compute performance and makes out high clockspeeds are better then they really are, the way he says things like "everything rises with high tides" is a attempt to make the PS5 hardware seem better then it actually is.

Yeah it will come with a:

Have you ever thought that SONY worked on the cooling solution this time? No one has a clue what it looks like or how it’s cooling the hardware inside so before saying it’ll be a fire hazard because of the high GPU clocks let the consoles come out first before crying on the internet.

I think both PS5 and XboxX are both going to be wonderful machines, however the way certain gaming websites are trying there best to try and change the conversation about power to try give PS5 a significant advantage is hilarious to me

What is this? why they would be unable to talk about it when there are tons of devs already working on it and they even announced the specs and why would they let people think that PS5 is weaker?

I call bullshit by Shreier, he is the king of this kind of esoteric nonsense which leads to unjustified hype.

I'd hope it's true just to keep the roller coaster ride going, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Don't be so defensive, it's an obvious joke which it seems you can't handle.

I don't recall Mark Cerny being associated with the marketing team at Sony, but if that's what you took away from Mark Cerny's explanation on his design philosophy well then that's unfortunate. You missed out on a lot.

I don’t think it’s anything new that they haven’t said already, I think it’s more about people’s interpretation of what has already been presented and explaining better, with real demos. For example, I just watched the Cerny talk again and a few things caught my attention that I didn’t catch the fist time:
- The I/O unit: the I/O complex is doing the equivalent of 10-12 Zen2 cores just on its own. Microsofts decompressor is equivalent of 5
- PS5 SSD is linked via PCI-e 4.0, no mention of PCI-e 4.0 anywhere in the stuff Microsoft released so far so I can only assume it’s using PCI-e 3(this is conjecture on my part)
- Backward compatibility, PS5 was built with backwards compatibility as one of the design principles. It should in theory be compatible with all PS4 games except a small percentage that might need patching to work with high frequencies. The 100 games they mention is simply games they’ve TESTED and can affirm that they do indeed work without any modification, as will the majority.
- PS5 WILL be quiet. This is a very interesting part, so traditionally they would have the frequencis of the GPU/CPU be fixed and then vary the power consumption based on the workload. For PS5 they are always providing maximum power but they vary frequencies based on the workload. So in theory, if power is constant, then heat produced will be constant and therefore if you design a cooling solution based on these parameters it will always be effective regardless of the workload. This also means that boost frequencies do not mean what they traditionally mean in PC, PS5 WILL be running at those frequencies most of the time.

I am calling it now......

Knack 3 included free PHYSICAL PACK IN RELEASE not some digital download code.

Sony really doesn't have to disclose anything yet which is great. They are going into it the reigning kings and they can announce whatever surprises the day it comes out for all they care and they still won't be able to keep the initial batch in stock.

The road to 200 million units sold-through starts... NOW (faster than 100 million for PS4)

Also Jason Schreier is just some guy with an opinion he should not be somone whos words you take with any authority, he was wrong about both consoles being above 10.7tflops and wrong about both consoles being like an rtx 2080 power wise.
He said both were aiming for being above Stadia in flops he never said it was definitive

Jason Schreier is, without question, the most respected journalist in the industry. He has never given out TF figures. He talks about system performance after talks with multiple developers. Both 1st & 3rd Party.

After Cerny’s presentation and numerous videos from the likes of Digital Foundry & NX Gamer. It is clear Schreier was correct all along.

Unfortunately many gamers are ignorant about technology and game development. Today they obsess over TF’s, back in the day it was Bits. Neither of which has much relevance to system performance.

If people don’t want to listen to system architects & developers. They are perfectly entitled to do that. The software will do the talking.

You keep on repeating the same garbage you can’t come up with new material? I don’t give a shit either way because it's a stupid joke only meant to rattle the cages.
Obviously you have to think of better material .

I don't like feeling that I have to preface with this, but I honestly don't give a crap about fanboy wars nor is this some 'dGPU' hopeful bullshit that would completely close every gulf, but it does seem interesting that a guy with known well placed industry sources is saying Sony has been sandbagging it so far and the PS5 is superior in aspects that haven't been communicated yet:

"The stuff I'm hearing from developers is very different from what I'm seeing in Sony's marketing strategy,"

"I'm getting texts and DMs from developers being like, this is such a shame, the PS5 is so superior in all these other ways that they're not actually able to message right now, or can't talk about right now. I heard from at least three different people, since the Cerny thing, that the PS5 is actually the superior piece of hardware in a lot of different ways despite what we're seeing in these spec sheets."

Article with quote:

Full pod:

Still think there's a lot more to all of this that will be revealed over time, but I'm almost relieved that the visions are different again, it makes the tech side more interesting!

That’s the same guy that also that the PS5 is the „most exciting HARDWARE in 20 YEARS“. (Not console - HARDWARE!) - right before if the reveal.
Like more exiting than the iPhone, more exciting than the Apple Watch, Nintendo Switch, Oculus Rift.
People were extremely disappointed by the reveal, and not very exicited afterwards.

So, I would take anything he says with a grain of salt.

Sony innovates in all of its industries and works with the people who work in the industries to make the products better for their specific uses, so I have no doubt the devs saying PS5 is truly groundbreaking for the games industry aren't blowing smoke. I like going back to my favourite games from the last 10 years when I get a new GPU to see how they look at higher framerates or resolutions and its great but I also want to see new stuff that I've not seen before like invisible LOD scaling and crazily varied procedural generation of large scale environments.

I think many have said this already but my feeling is the PS5 seems to prioritising new experiences while XSX is refining old ones. If Halo Infinite runs at native 4K@60hz on XSX with RT and other new rendering methods, fantastic! I'll play it! [On my PC most likely though], but if PS5 has an exclusive with the stuff I listed above but it runs at 1080p@30hz I'll be more excited to play the PS5 game.

For me, if games give you a sense of something new then the rest of the "problems" fall to the wayside. Gravity Rush 2 comes to mind where its got so many problems and it many ways the graphics are outdated but I loved that game so much because it felt like something new to me. Same with Just Cause 3 [4 to a lesser extent, mostly because 3 exists though], the wingsuiting is better than the movement in most other open world games that exist so I put up with its "difficiencies".

Stories like this are why I believe in Sony (🧀) :

Right because series X only has a TF advantage, it gets better with the days that passes .

That would be the point of the frustration and the quote, dunno why they're being so slow on the messaging but I'm curious what this means from the three devs on the tech side.
Because they have a ton of games coming out on PS4 still. Once those games are released (and really it may only be until FF7R, since it's 3rd party) they will show us more. MS can blow its wad early because they have nothing until the XSX releases.

And the problem is, it's probably hard to explain these things. It's best to show off the games, while explaining how PS5'S design allows them to do certain things we are seeing.

Reminds me of this:

Man, this is hilarious. It’s like EXACT switched roles from the start of current gen. Haha can’t believe it.
Except this is from devs. Not PR from MS.

Repeat?
Garbage?
Don't give a shit?
I have to?

I'm not repeating anything as it's the first time I've posted that image or made such a joke.
Garbage because you're stupid enough to miss an obvious joke? I even went through the effort to find one that had "systems" written on it.
You don't give a shit, yet couldn't handle a joke but not only that you're trying to say you don't care by showing you do with the responses and the way your message is constructed?
Lastly I don't have to do a damn thing and if I do that's up to me to decide not you or anyone else for that matter - take your frustration elsewhere, perhaps go get some fresh air.
