PSP is having a very nice showing this year at TGS 2006. One of the most important games is Jeanne D'arc (LEVEL 5). IGN has some hands on and some screens:

Jeanne d'Arc is a luscious and complex Strategy RPG for PSP, easily standing out as one of the best titles here at the show for the portable.

Jeanne d'Arc's visual style sings on the PSP, using a plethora of color and lighting and effects and texture details to bring the world to life. The game is fully 3D, but at a glance, its cel-shaded character models could almost pass for sprites. Players have full control over the camera in the game's turn-based battle sequences, zooming and rotating the play field to get a good look at every move possible before deciding.

Sigh - since Sony is publishing this in Japan, why can't they bring this over to the US (and Brave Story) for a pre-Xmas release. I dunno is worse - not having a lot of great RPGs, or having them, but having them not be brought over to the US anytime soon.

yeah.. personally i don't think Square Enix's efforts on DS have been all that great yet either. Though Children of Mana looks very promising.

But if Crisis Core is as good as it looks, it'll be a fair tradeoff IMO.

Level 5 has kinda become what Square use to be. They but pump out one good RPG/Strategy after the next, and all of them are very well thought out. At this point, you can pretty much assume the game will be good just because its Level 5.

Okay, I'll be the first sourpuss to jump in and moan about visuals for the game not being much of an indicator of anything. Just looks like a sharper version of any SRPG. Will pay attention when I start hearing about how the well diversified charater classes have lots of interesting and well balanced customization options, or how challenging the maps are or whatever.
