Jeremy Clarkson: "I’m going to do another car show"

People do love to mock the hot meal thing, but while it doesn't excuse his actions, I could see that reasonably adding to his frustration. A man in his mid-50's, run ragged filming all day, can't even come back to a proper meal when that's something the producer was supposed to take care of. Learning now about all the crap he was trying to deal with at the time, again it doesn't excuse his actions, but it does explain why he snapped, reasonably so.

In addition to that, I remember reading somewhere that this was just another fuckup in a long line of many fuckups by this particular producer, which irritated Clarkson.

No it doesn't, going through some shit is never an excuse to put hands on somebody.

top gear will not be the same without clarkson , but lets hope he can make it work with other presenters even though he onlygot his self to blame

Clarkson the Gawwwd.

Whatever he makes will be what I'm watching instead of top gear from now on.

Hopefully new top gear crashes and burns so the two boys end up working with Jeremy again.

Did I miss some news where Hammond and May said they are no longer going to leave Top Gear to join Jeremy's new project? I thought at first they kept implying they'd stay with each other.

They will both join him. May is going crazy with boredom.

As far as I have read nothing has changed, last news was a source saying the below according to the Mirror...

BBC bosses are desperately trying to get Richard Hammond and James May to motor ahead with Top Gear after Jeremy Clarkson’s sacking.

The station has launched a charm offensive in a bid to keep the presenters, who chiefs think would encourage fans to stick with the embattled show.

Clarkson was the main man on Top Gear before he was axed over a clash with his producer. Now bosses are begging May and Hammond to take the wheel.

A source said: “Richard is a TV presenter and this could be his chance to become top dog – he’s been on the show a bit longer than James. That is a big opportunity to pass over.”

Sorry you need to have the results. Cancer is no laughing matter and a life changing condition. The doctor could be sued for causing undue stress by false diagnosis.

Bullshit. Good doctors communicate with their patients.

If the doctor knows that there's a big likelihood that it's a form of cancer, he or she will divulge that possibility to the patient. What do you expect them to do, put on a face of sunshine and rainbows only to drop the cancer bomb on an unsuspecting patient later when his suspicions are confirmed by the lab work?

I just can't see the 3 breaking up.

I'm glad he's making another show, which always seemed inevitable anyway. Judging by those quotes, though, he doesn't seem to show any remorse for what he did. He gives some reasons for being unhappy, and then says the BBC took his baby from him, even though he's fully responsible for the course of events. It's not like the BBC haven't been lenient with him after multiple charges.

But whatever. He's a great presenter and has a great sense of humour and has a passion for motors. I'm just happy that it's other people that have to deal with him off-camera.

My immediate reaction to hearing this...

The link above seems a bit revealing. He recently did his annual action hosting and mentioned how Top Gear would be back "somewhere else, or maybe even not somewhere else".

BBC might have gotten really cold feet about the whole situation and loosing one of their biggest earners.

Upper Cog coming to BBC 2016

Hard to believe that´s it all over. Damn, these guys have been with me since the early 00s. My fiancee jokes that our children are being raised by three middle aged men on television. since the show is being broadcasted on BBC round the clock...

While there is no defending the fact that he punched a producer over something stupid, if in the span of a year I was attacked by an angry mob while filming, getting divorced from my second wife while my first wife was getting involved over it in the media, and just found out a few days earlier that I may or may not have cancer, I would probably not act like a rational person over something that might seem trivial to a normal person.

What should have been done by the BBC instead of comparing him to a pedophile, firing him, and then not telling him so he finds out about it in the newspaper, they should have suspended him for at least an entire series/year, make him go to counseling, give him time to get his personal issues sorted out and THEN talk about coming back.

I got banned for saying the same exact thing. I never argued he shouldn't be punished, I just questioned the punishment.
Anyway, I completely agree with you there. I thought the punishment hurt everybody, in the end, not just Clarkson, so it still is highly questionable.

That's exactly the kind of segment I hope never to see again.

These comments... Who forced you to watch this?

I don't think many are defending what Clarkson did or outraged that he got fired for it. At the end of the day yes he did something wrong and he paid for it. What some are questioning is how over the top some people were against him, it literally was like he had done something to them. Just because he acted like a idiot in the media spotlight doesn't mean he doesn't deserve a chance to move on.

This, so much. People were in fucking hysterics. Sure, people who wanted him to get away without punishment are equally bad, but you really got the impression this guy had just taken a huge dump into their soup - most of them even stated they hate the show. Well, then why even care? Do you watch Teletubbies to complain about the absence of dialogue too?

On topic, I love how so many people in this thread have less of an empathic ability than the fucking mars robot. Sure, fracassing the guy shouldn't happen, but as anyone knows with the least bit of psychological knowledge, it can happen because either one of those events is enough to make a full grown man spiral out of his own control.

But then you have people write stuff along the lines of "He should have followed Emotional Charge Emergency Protocol 132! Serves him right, divorce & cancer scare shouldn't keep you from proper working procedure at any time!"
(Yeah I'm still hung up on the robot thing)

Those types of moment's are arguably what Top Gear is all about. It's 20% cars, 80% humor. Personally, my favourite part of the show was the Vietnam special. I'm assuming you didn't like that either? What exactly is your problem with a section like that?

The specials and challenges are indeed some of my favorite segments... right up to the point where they go all A-Team crazy with their cars (or try way too hard to script 'funny' situations). Way too over the top and ridiculous imho. I think the show is at its best when it has three friends (with an encyclopedic knowledge of cars) just driving around and messing around (a bit) but generally just talking cars. Preferably as off-the-cuff as possible.

I love cars. Sort of 'being in on' these road trips through beautiful areas with a bunch of mates and a few very special cars is more than enough to entertain. Also, the episodes that seemed to rely far less on heavy scripting (like the Polar special, which was just about getting to that one point) are a lot more funny than the ones where they keep trying to forcibly insert a bunch of lame jokes (like the india special, or that hovervan / ambulance type nonsense).

You should try fifth gear or top gear USA.
